Morning all, thank you Cathy,Yowzer,Linda and hubby,DCT for your kind words,my mum has improved a bit over the last few days, her GP suggested she take Imodium whilst we are waiting for various tests and results.DD seemed to be feeling better,no vomiting after Wednesday night, then it started again on Friday night, then nothing yesterday but she is feeling light headed and pretty grotty again today,it’s a weird bug, seeming to come and go a bit.Yowzer my Dad seems to be ok thanks but we have kept away whilst my mum and DD have been poorly as scared we pass anything on.
I’m enjoying reading about everyone’s progress, hoping to make some myself this week🤞Our closest friends go to Disneyworld Florida every few years and we are going with them next year for the first time (assuming Covid not still causing so much trouble! ) and they’ve texted this morning to say it’s a year today we travel so that’s an added incentive for me to focus on healthy eating😃 Dawn X

HIIIIIIII there ReBooters! Keep doing it!
ANTIGONE very well done on the 800 cals! I usually can’t quite manage it,but I am keeping to around 1000 cals. Damage limitation! Great that you are reaping the rewards for being so good! Sorry about yr sweet potato shock, but you have the right attitude, knowing that you can average it out later in the week. It took me a long time to change panicky thinking “I’ve blown it” to thinking “I can sort that out “…X
DCT and LINDA! We are three of a kind on EBay! I start typing in my bid at the 20+ sec mark, then when it’s getting down to 10 secs I quickly put in my max bid! Like LINDA said,if sbody else puts in a higher max bid that theyre happy with, good luck to them! I love the thrill of that last minute gamble! And so often as L said, you get the item at well below the max bid you offered!
Makes me wonder tho, what wd we three be like, gambling in a casino!😀😀😀
DCT!Hope you’re having / had lovely time in London ! Where did you go? X
SUEBLUE I ‘m like you, still cautious, still getting online food deliveries ( tho the last couple of weeks I’ve ventured into smarket for things missing from orders..very fast in and out tho! Far too many people no longer taking the very simple steps to keep each other safe. I want to shout “ It hasn’t gone away”.)
I’m glad you’re enjoying yr walking…it feels good to walk and feel energetic while doing so doesnt it! X
LINDA a farm shop! Wd love to have one of those nearby! 💜 X
Well guys I’ve rambled on too long and some of the passengers have fallen asleep because the seats on our coach are so comfy!
Keep going everyone..it will be so worth it when Christmas comes and we’re all in our sparkly party frocks, singing all the festive songs! Everyone will want to kiss us underneath the mistletoe 🙂🙃

Antigone you are doing well keeping to 800 calories. I’m averaging around 1000-1100 on 5 days a week, and keep to 800 calories on 2 days. I may try a week or 2 of 800 calories every day again soon though.
I had a good online shopping experience this week – for the past few months there have been out of stock items, or wrong items delivered, and this week I had 2 beautiful pieces of fresh salmon fillets in with my groceries that I hadn’t ordered – a delicious bonus 🙂 I cooked some of it last night in my air fryer just with a Dukkah crust and really enjoyed it, I had it with broccolini and cherry tomatoes.
Tonight I’m going to make the salmon salad bowl recipe from the Fast 800 recipe book and have it for dinner tonight and lunch tomorrow.
For lunch today I had some broccoli soup , I had loads of broccoli in my crisper so it was a good way of using it up. Although it is Spring here we are having a cool, rainy spell so it’s good soup weather 🙂
I had some oranges too that had been in the fridge for a few weeks so made the Fast 800 orange and almond loaf. This is really lovely. I cut it up and freeze slices then warm in the microwave when I feel like a piece – I have it for lunch sometimes with some Greek yoghurt.
Although it was raining quite heavily this afternoon I still went out for a 90 minute walk, I really miss it when I don’t go out some days, it’s certainly become a habit for me now.
I enjoyed reading everyone’s eBay stories – I used to sell on eBay, when it first started in Australia. At one point I was selling craft supplies and was doing so well I was able to cut down my hours at work and go part time. Then eBay started charging higher fees, postage rates went up a lot too and it became mandatory to take PayPal as payment which again involved more fees – when I worked out the hours I was putting in it worked out that I was earning $3 or $4 an hour so I packed it in and went back to being a full time wage earner 🙂 it was good while it lasted though.
I hadn’t thought of selling my old clothes, if I had anything of value I would, but many are pieces I bought ages ago from chain stores, or they are charity shop buys. I keep promising myself a new wardrobe when I get to goal weight… one thing I am liking about being able to fit into size 16 again is that almost all clothes ranges go up to 16, whereas when I was a size 18 or 20 not everything was available in the “plus size” range.
Dawn, I hope your mum is doing a bit better now, how awful for her being ill while recovering from surgery.
Hope everyone else is doing well. I’ll check in again at the end of the week when hopefully I’ll be reporting a loss 🙂

    Hello everyone
I am enjoying some really lovely and delicious food on the reboot. I have gone back to basics with my way of eating, I’ve just made an omelette wrap which is cooling and I’ll be having hummus and a little carrot in that. I made the ratatouille and Halloumi bake last night and I’m going to make mushroom soup later with milk not cream (still careful about my cholesterol after the raised count earlier this year). Nobody would guess I am “dieting”and I’m not feeling any hunger. I am still firmly in ketosis and although I am hoping for a loss on Friday, I won’t be surprised if this week I don’t lose but hopefully, I will next week, I have got used to how my body “performs”. I am having simple lunches, a couple of babybel cheeses and some pecans, broccoli and stilton soup. No refined carbs have passed my lips. I watched a Jason Fung clip yesterday to remind me that fasting and low carb is the way to lose weight and not calorie deficit. Even if I don’t lose every week, I should still see the fat melt away over the next few weeks.
On a rather sad note, my lovely friend who had brain surgery two weeks ago has been given devastating news and a dreadful prognosis. It has been a lot to take on board and so very unexpected. 2021 has not been a good year at all but I am still here, still positive, still trying and still hoping. Reminds me of the song “I get knocked down but I get up again”. It has given me a lot to think about and when my husband comes back from his retreat, we need to sit down and have a good chat about how we plan to enjoy our life together over the next few years. I’ve always assumed I wouldn’t get old because my mum died very young and now with this blow it has made me realise we have to grab every opportunity to enjoy life now.
Have a good week everyone, do your best every day. Weigh day is Friday for me and I’d love to be able to report a loss.

    Hi everyone

Just checking in particularly to send Cathy my love and best wishes. I’m so sorry to hear about your friend. So sad, and just wish there was something more we could all do to help. I agree that we should make the most of every minute. I’m so glad that your eating is going really well at the moment and that you are managing to keep positive. Well done!!

Yowzer I had a lovely time on Monday thank. you. We had a wonderful tapas lunch in Fitzrovia (an area where I used to live many years ago) then onto somewhere near Carnaby Street for drinks. Totally blew the carbs and cals but had a fab time and am trying to make up for it now!

Dawn I’m glad your mum and daughter are both improving. And it’s great that you have a wonderful holiday to look forward to next year.

I have to say I’m not doing well on eBay at the moment. No-one seems to buy any of my clutter, which is a shame. But I’ll keep plugging away and see how it goes. Will keep you posted!

Take care everyone, and keep in touch X

I did want to ask you a quick off topic question about the booster shots you are giving – approx how long after peoples 2nd jab are they having a 3rd booster?
Our govt has recently approved boosters for the group I’m in (compromised immunity) and they are saying 2-5 months after the 2nd. I do have an appointment with my doctor on Monday to discuss, just interested in what you are doing in the UK.
    Take care Cathy x

    Thank you Sue and DCT.

Sue, here in the Uk we are giving Pfizer vaccines at no sooner than six months following your second vaccination. Everyone is getting Pfizer irrespective of what your first vaccines were unless you had anaphylactic reaction to Pfizer. Everyone over 50 will be notified when it’s your turn to book your booster appointment. Those who are younger and fall into certain health conditions will also receive a booster.

I’ll be back on here tomorrow with a weight update. Even if I haven’t lost weight (I feel heavier) I am happy that there is no sugar in my body and am enjoying not feeling hungry or having cravings.

Yowzer – love songs and games 🙂 I’m going to start with I spy with my little eye something beginning with O….
OVERWEIGHT (person) – or alternatively OVERJOYED 😁
Today is Friday, weigh in day, I stepped on the scales to find I’ve lost 1/2kg this week – now this may not sound like much but for me it means a lot as I’ve FINALLY reached a weight where I’m Overweight rather than Obese! I know that the BMI scales are not the be all and end all, but it’s nice to have a BMI in the 20’s (just – it’s 29.89!) rather than in the 30’s.
Another thing I realised is that at 90.5kg I’m also finally under 200 lbs 🙂
So onwards and downwards for me, now I need to focus on losing the next 2.5kg to reach my 2021 goal.

    Hello everyone

I am pleased to see I have lost 1lb this morning. I really wasn’t expecting it but was hoping for a loss. I really don’t feel any different. I am enjoying being back in control and so a reward on the scales has cheered me up. I’m going to push on again this week and my next goal is getting back into the 140s. Last Christmas Eve I weighed 144 lb and my plan is to weigh less than that this Christmas and then I hope to be at goal 138 lb early in the New Year. I’m looking at my goals in small steps…
    Step 1- 149 lb
    Step 2 – 147 lb
    Step 3 – 145 lb
    Step 4 – 142 lb
    Step 5 – 140 lb
    Step 6 – 138 lb
I’ve lost 4lb in two weeks so that is a good start. I’m going to try to lose 3 lb this week to take me to step 1. I’ll walk more, drink more water and incorporate two long fasts before Friday.
Looking forward to seeing how you have all done this week. Off to work now – another day of boosters for me!

    Hi Everyone
I have lost 1lb this week which takes me into the 12’s (just!) so I am happy with that as I haven’t been too strict this week. I need to increase my exercise. I have been using the excuse that it is dark so early now, but there is no reason that I can’t go for a walk in the dark where I live … I’m just being lazy !!
I am planning a walk along the cliffs at Arbroath this weekend which is 8 miles so that should blow the cobwebs away.
Yowzer – I love games (can’t sing !!) ………… I spy with my little eye something beginning with P … Planning and positivity will be my watchwords for this week.
SueBlue – well done. All these smaller goals keep us focused.
Cathy – Congrats on the loss however, I’m so sorry to hear about your friend.
Dawn – Hope your Mum and daughter are on the mend.

Finger crossed for a good loss for everyone this week. Have a good weekend x

Hi everyone and thanks for your kind wishes.I think I may be away from the forum for a few weeks but will check in when I can.Have had a bit of a worrying few days, phone rang early hours Thursday and it was M-i-l calling to say F-i-l had woken extremely confused, fallen twice and didn’t know where he was.It sounded like a stroke. They luckily live just 5 miles away so DH told her to ring for an ambulance and he went straight along.Ambulance came within an hour and F-i-l was taken to hospital.Various tests done, they don’t think it was a stroke and he came home last night and he’s been referred to his GP,they are looking at cognitive tests so may be thinking dementia.I was sick last night so think I have caught bug from DD(she is fine now and back at school) My sister rang me this afternoon to say my Mum’s GP had rung to say stool sample results had come back positive. She said that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s cancer but it needs urgent investigation.I really want to stay on the Countdown bus but am struggling at the moment to concentrate on healthy eating though I know, hearing about all of the illness around me,it’s more important than ever.My thoughts are with everyone going through difficult times at the moment and I will still try to read posts every day, just may not be posting myself.Dawn X

share this quote I read today on Facebook, it really resonated with me and i think it makes a good mantra as we get ready for another week on our journey:

    Hi Everyone
I’ve been really struggling this year with motivation to keep with the BSD woe and lifestyle. But, here I am again. I’m determined to start the New Year in a better place than I’m in now. I remember when I first did BSD what a difference that first 8 weeks made so I’m going right back to basics from tomorrow; meal planning, weighing, measuring, 800 calories s & very low carbs.
SueBlue, I really like that quote, it hits the nail on the head for me so I’m going to put that in my new notebook and read it every day!
Hope everyone else has had a great weekend. If not, it’s the start of a brand new week tomorrow. Hurrah!

Nice to see you back on the bus. Stay near the front with me and I reckon you’ll do well. Going back to basics is the best way forward and once you’ve got the sugar out of your system it get so much easier. It usually takes me three days to get into ketosis. We have got over nine weeks until Christmas so enough time to make a big difference.

Thanks for the great quote SueBlue. It’s hard when the effort to reward ratio is slow but if we are patient we will definitely see the transformation. I have been pleased with the non scale victory of not being hungry this week. It has really kept me focused even when the scales didn’t show what I had hoped for. Keep going everyone. We can do this and nobody can do it for us.

    Hello Countdowners
Just popping on to say I lost 0.6lb this week. Not a lot of weight after a good week but my trousers were definitely a little more comfortable today at work. Hopefully next week I will be back in the 140’s! I am 5lb down and feeling strong and committed to getting back to a more healthy weight. I am going to try hard to lose 2lb this week. I’m off to London next Friday to stay with my son for a few days. I know that I won’t blow it when I am away because I don’t want to go backwards during this reboot so I am going to be focused and stay on track to lose as much as possible during this reboot. I know I am a slow loser but I am heading in the right direction, not feeling hungry and am as positive as ever to reach my goal. I’ve got lots of lovely clothes that will look lovely when I am 10 lb lighter. I really am in the zone and feel positive. I’m hoping to reach step 1 of my plan next week-149 lb

Sending good wishes to everyone on the bus. Hope those who are going through a difficult time at the moment know that we are thinking of you and sending you love.

Jennie- have you had a good week?
Dawn- hope you’re Ok and your family are being well cared for.

    Hello lovely people

Great to read some positive posts! Keep on going everyone.

I confess I’ve been way off plan the past week or two. Think I’m snoozling on the back of the bus. It’s been a busy time with various birthdays and stuff . . . . but then I am definitely the Queen of Excuses and veer off piste at any opportunity.

On a positive note, I’m getting my act together exercise-wise, and have been running, walking and swimming this week. So if I can keep that going and get fully back on the WoE all will be well.

On a not so positive note, hubby tested positive for Covid today so is self-isolating for the next 10 days. I’m negative so far, and in theory don’t need to self-isolate but it’s scuppered various plans for the next couple of weeks. All based on lat flow tests so far but we’re also doing PCR tests for confirmation. So a bit like back to lockdown basically. Thankfully he is not feeling too bad, and we’re both double-jabbed, so hope it will all be ok. Will keep you posted.

Either way, my aim is to get my act together diet-wise from now on, and also keep the exercise going. And hopefully soon those pounds will start to melt away.

Lots of love to you all, and do let us know how you’re doing – good or bad X

Hello Yowser, yes I do play the clarinet. I started lessons when I was 50. I had piano lessons from aged 7 so I could already read music and that made it easier for me to learn to play. Playing clarinet is easier than piano because there is only one line of music to read. To be honest I’ve not played for a few months because my son bought me an amazing white piano for my 60th birthday this year and so I’ve been playing the piano a lot more and have been teaching myself to play some fabulous Einaudi music and yesterday I bought the piano sheet music for Nothing Else Matters by Metallica and it is absolutely amazing to play and sounds fantastic! Now I’m semi retired I have a lot more time for hobbies which also includes watercolour painting and I am really enjoying being crafty and arty!!
Had a terrible shift at work yesterday and was seriously thinking of giving it up but I am going to give it a little longer – it’s just so busy! I’m off to see my son next week so will have a week off and see how things are when I go back. I am going to try hard this week to lose a couple of pounds more and will try to drink more water and maybe a fast or two.

Keep strong everyone. Being in control is so liberating!

OMG Cathy we really are soul sisters. I play piano too, and love Einaudi. I learned clarinet at school but sadly sold it on eBay a few years ago. But my hubby plays Nothing Else Matters on guitar! I’m generally a creative person, and one of my aspirations on semi-retiring was to learn to paint, so I’d booked a watercolour painting class which then got cancelled because of lockdown. And . . . . my real name is Catherine!

    Cue Twilight music . . . . . . .

Dreamscometrue- we have said it before but tonight you have confirmed that we really are soul sisters! Two Catherine’s!! I cant believe how many things we have in common! I bought the nothing else matters music from a website called Noviscore and it was only £2.99. Check it out- it’s amazing. You could do a duet with your husband. I went to see Einaudi a few years ago at The Bridgewater Hall in Manchester. I bought a rather expensive sheet music book of his in the foyer and have enjoyed learning to play passagio, , Nuvole Blanche, Primavera etc. I learnt passagio on the clarinet too and my clarinet teacher accompanied me on the piano- amazing!

Hope your husband only has a mild dose of Covid and you don’t catch it. I think we have done so well not to have had it yet. I feel really at risk at the moment working in the vaccination centre. The numbers testing positive this week have been rather alarming and still people do not wear masks even when coming for their boosters.
Keep well and let us know how you are doing.

DCT – sorry to read about your husband, I hope he feels better soon, and that you stay well.
We have had our COVID restrictions ease (for vaccinated people anyway), but I’m still really wary, and being cautious about where I go. My MIL is desperate to go to the hairdresser but I’ve persuaded her to wait another few weeks, as we are still getting new case numbers in the hundreds each day In NSW, of course it is a lot worse in Victoria, where they are in the thousands. Our booster program is set to start rolling out in November.

CATHY – well done on remaining in control and having a loss this week 🙂 I envy you being able to play clarinet and piano, and paint! I’m not musical at all, and not very arty either! I can knit but that’s about it in terms of craft! I do enjoy writing though.

I haven’t had a loss this week on the scales. It’s been an up and down week in that I’ve felt unwell, also had husbands birthday this week so had a few more wines than I should have, and cake etc… today I’m having an off plan day as I’m seeing my eldest 2 children, we haven’t seen each other for almost 5 months, so I’m really looking forward to that 🙂
I’m starting the day off with a walk though, I always feel better after walking.

I read a good article about weight loss this week. The author said that scales only tell part of the story – they show weight loss, but not fat loss. So a person could have lost 3kg of fat, and gained 3kg of muscle, because they’ve been exercising, and the scales would show no difference. I’ll keep this in mind in weeks where I have no loss 🙂

Hi everyone,I’m clambering back into my bus seat today, thanks to all of you for keeping it warm and for all of your thoughtful wishes.I have been WAY off plan but forced myself to get weighed this morning and am,not surprisingly,a pound heavier than when we started the Christmas reboot.I couldn’t face another week of feeling grotty by eating my old ‘comfort’ foods which I am now going to try to think of as ‘discomfort’ foods as lying in bed unable to get comfortable because of feeling so bloated and distended is in no way a ‘comfort’ ! I had a kidney stone last week (which I’m prone to)so must try to drink more water too as really haven’t been recently and probably never drink enough even when I’m eating healthily.
I’m just about to do a food plan for the week on MFP as that is always a help and means that I can get super organised and will be doing the weekly shop for my Mum and I tomorrow so it will help with my list for that. All of my Mum’s blood tests have come back normal so we are hoping that means she’s unlikely to have bowel cancer (which she had convinced herself she had) but she still needs a further test/scan so we are not out of the woods yet.I’m hoping to see my Dad next week,we have been staying away because of various bugs in the family for a few weeks, thankfully not Covid, DCT I hope your husband is ok and that you stay Covid free.I think when I last posted I had mentioned my F-i-l had been in hospital when we had to call an ambulance for him one early morning. We still don’t know what caused the episode (it sounded very like a stroke to us but the consultant didn’t think it was)but he has an appointment with his GP this week so hopefully they are going to monitor him.
Well I’m hoping that this is my last ‘reboot’ on the Christmas Reboot and that I can just sit firmly in my seat (Yowser do u still have the wet lettuce at hand? A damp sprout may be more appropriate in the lead up to Christmas😀) Thank you again everyone for your continued support! Dawn X

Welcome back Dawn. Lovely to hear from you, and I’m so glad that the news about your mum and FiL is a little bit more hopeful. Good luck with your reboot reboot. I think I’m at least one reboot ahead of you, as I confess I haven’t really got into a consistent groove so far since starting this thread 3 weeks ago. But this week is another week, so here goes.

Sue I loved the end of your last post about weight loss vs muscle gain. I’ve managed to put ON 2lb over the last week which has been very disappointing. I mean yes, I’ve been a bit off plan but not that much, no more than has happened many times before. But suddenly instead of moreorless maintaining, the weight seems to be piling on. But I have been exercising more over that exact same period, so my hope is that I’m building muscle. But who knows?! One thing’s for sure, I do need to do better in terms of eating and drinking this week. Will keep you posted!

Thanks for all the good wishes re our Covid situation. At this stage, hubby is no worse than he was, just mild symptoms, and I am still testing negative on lat flow tests. Should get our PCR tests back by Wednesday. Will report back in due course.

Have a great week everyone X

Hi everyone, I’ve been following along though not posting- I know I should post more often but often I have nothing particular to say. Lockdown being lifted here has meant an increase in social activity and that’s meant more wine, more temptation. I’ve managed to maintain (and relieved at that) but that’s all.

But I’m still on the bus though hanging onto the straps to keep from falling over!

Well done to those who are making progress and best wishes to those struggling, like me 😬

Yowzer this happened to me before, somehow I become unsubscribed and miss all of the posts 🙂

Mariet – I hear you regarding restrictions easing and more temptation – I finally saw my eldest 2 on the weekend and they both bought gifts – French champagne and French gin 🙂 we were catching up on 4 missed birthdays, Fathers Day and various anniversaries!
I’ve had a good week so far though, walking each day and keeping calories to around 1,000.
Did you watch Dr Moseley’s Australia’s Health Revolution on SBS? It’s a 3 part series about diabetes prevention and reversal. I watched it via the On Demand catch up channel.
After watching the success of the participants in the show I’m inspired to try and do better. One thing I have been neglecting is keeping track of carbs – Dr M was talking about how ketosis keeps hunger at bay and makes it easier to manage restricted calories. I had a look in My Fitness Pal and I often have 80-90g carbs per day, and although they are mainly “healthy carbs”, ie sourdough rye bread, oats, brown rice etc I’m wondering if that is slowing my weight loss as I wouldn’t be in fat burning mode. Anyway I’ve ordered some testing strips from Amazon and I’m going to reduce my carbs over the next week or 2 and see the difference that makes.

    Hello everyone
I’ve been contacted yet again by track and trace as my colleague has tested positive for Covid so I’ve been for a PCR test tonight. I am supposed to be going to London on Friday to see my son! Should get the result tomorrow. This is my third near miss! Covid is on the rise here in the UK and still people are not wearing masks whilst in crowded places.

Sue, it usually takes me three days to get into ketosis and it definitely does have an impact on hunger! You simply lose your hunger when you’re in ketosis. Since this reboot I’ve not eaten any refined carbs so no crackers, crispbreads, cereal or bread. I haven’t eaten rice or pasta since 2017!

Mariet, glad you’re still on the bus with us. We are all doing our best and enjoying good weeks and not so good weeks. I am still doing well and sticking to low carb healthy food and am hoping to have lost a pound when I weigh myself on Friday. My weight loss is very slow and I’d be delighted if I could get under 150 lb in the next couple of weeks. I was 151.8 last Friday and I started the reboot at 156.4. My aim is to be less than 144 lb by Christmas which is what I weighed last Christmas Eve. Is that possible in 8 weeks? I hope so. My ultimate goal is 138 lb. I am keeping those figures in the front of my mind as incentive and I’m keeping very low carb to curb my hunger. I’ll post my weight on Friday. If my Covid test is negative then I am going to London for a few days and and determined to keep on the straight and narrow.

    Stay safe everyone.

DCT did you get yr PCR results? CCATHY I hope you test negative and can go to London! Things covid wise seem to be really ramping up in Uk and like you said, many many folk not wearing masks and generally acting like covid has gone away. I went to the post office today and it was closed as a member of staff has tested positive. My nephew bought me theatre tickets for end November but I got told today the shows postponed til next July.( TBH I’m quite relieved about that, have really been avoiding being in indoor crowded places, and was really a bit apprehensive about going to the theatre)
I’m glad DAWN to hear about yr mums blood tests being ok! Good luck for the last test!
Have you got your sparkly chart on the go!
SUEBLUE that was a lot of celebrating, sounded like fun!
SUE and MARIET Are most places in Oz out of locko now..I have a friend in Wodonga who tells me the schools are all closed, she sounds really quite worried about things there. MARIET hows things with the family, how’s yr little grandson?
Not much news from me,I’m doing well food wise,in a weird situation now where I have to choose between several pairs of now baggy trousers and ones that are still too tight! Im away this weekend with DD and I know I’ll go off plan, just hope I can get back onto it quickly when I come home and without too much damage done!
Time will tell! I’ll have to run like mad to catch up with the coach when I get back Tuesday! ( probably said baggy trousers will be snug again!) 😀 love to all, stay well and safe folks X

Hi all, weighed myself this morning after my reboot on Monday and was pleased to see I have lost 2lb but even more pleased that I have lost 2 inches off my waist.I didn’t wait a week to weigh/measure myself as my usual weigh in day is Friday now as I figure it will give me a boost or kick going into the weekend!Hope everyone has a good day/evening,I’m pretty sure that if it wasn’t for this forum it’s unlikely I would have rebooted my healthy eating before next year so thank you all again ❤️Cathy I hope your PCR test is negative and that you get to see your son this weekend.Yowser it’s brilliant that you are getting into smaller trousers after all of your hard work🎉 Dawn X

DAWN – Well dome ! 👍 Your reboot is off to a great start 🙂 I know what you mean about being more pleased about inches lost around your waist – I’m the same. Although I have lost almost 10kg this year, I still have a long way to go with my waist measurements. To get to 80cm Which apparently is the maximum size a woman’s waist should be for diabetes prevention, I need to get rid of 28cm still.

I had my weigh in yesterday and had lost 100g – not much but I wasn’t expecting a loss tbh. The keto sticks I ordered arrived yesterday so I’m going to start my reboot reboot this weekend – not waiting till Monday! My Happy Scales app is predicting that I’ll reach my 1st goal on 17 December – just in time for Xmas 🙂

CATHY – hope you are well and that your test was negative and you got to go and see your son.

DCT – hope you and your husband are doing well.

YOWZER – here in NSW lockdown has lifted and restrictions eased, for fully vaccinated people anyway. If you’re in-vaccinated then freedoms don’t come until 1 December. In Victoria I think most places are in the process of reopening (shops, gyms, hairdressers etc). Schools here in NSW reopened on Monday, but some have had to close again straight away due to COVID cases. I received my first alert this week (in the app we use to check in and out of places we go) – a COVID positive person was at the hardware store on the same day as us – we have to monitor for symptoms. With mask wearing, it’s still mandatory inside shops and premises and the majority of people comply with that. You don’t need to wear them while outdoors though, so it’s nice when out walking to be able to see people’s faces again 🙂
My husband and I were out yesterday running errands and we stopped at a cafe and sat outside to have a coffee – the first time we have done this for over 5 months…life is slowly returning to normal. I’ll continue to work from home for the time being though, I want to have my booster jab before I go back (which hopefully will be end Jan).

Hope everyone else is doing well and enjoying the journey so far 🙂

It’s Monday 1st November here and I saw this quote on FB which I thought is a great mantra for us as our journey enters a new month:
    – New month
    – New beginning
    – New mindset
    – New focus
    – New start
    – New intentions
    -NEW RESULTS

    Let’s do this 🙂

    Morning all!

Sue, what.a great quote to start the month. Thank you! I’ve really not done well on the bus so far on this thread. Been hiding in the back row being naughty! But I’m treating this week as a fresh start. Still almost 8 weeks to go to Christmas so lots of time for weight loss and non-scale victories all round. I’ve had to revise my Christmas target but still hope to shed 7lb by Christmas Eve. Here goes . . .

On the Covid front, my husband’s first PCR test was void and his second thankfully came back negative, despite two positive lat flow tests before each. All my tests have been negative, so I think we’re in the clear. Cathy I hope your PCR came back negative and that you got to see your son?

Some lovely news on here about recent losses, including yours Dawn. Such a boost. Mariet and Jennie it’s great to see you posting again. I’m so glad our Aussie friends are out of lockdown now.

Hope that others who haven’t posted recently are doing ok . .. LindaandHubby, Laura, Antigone and JGwen? Still room for more travellers on our journey 🙂

Here’s hoping for a successful week for everyone X

    Hi All
Apologies for the silence … I appear to have slipped off the back of the bus and the 3lb that I had lost has gone straight back on but at least no extra pounds. I have climbed back on this morning and hope to hang on tighter this time 🙂
As Sue said – New Month , New mindset.
I plan to catch up with all the messages later … work is crazy at the moment so I don’t have much time to catch up just now.
    Hope everyone is well

    Hello everyone
My Covid test was negative too! I’ve managed to dodge Covid three times despite being tracked and traced! We have just come back from London so I was lucky to see my son. I weighed myself on Friday before we went and had put on weight of 2lb. I was so disappointed but I know it couldn’t be due to food as I’ve been really strict. I was stressed at work last week and worried that I had Covid so that may have contributed to my lack of weight loss. I will weigh again on Friday and hope that being away this weekend hasn’t scuppered my weight loss too much. I have eaten a little more but I walked 16000 steps on Saturday!! I will get back into my seat on the bus tomorrow morning and strap myself in for a strict ride this week.
A new month starts today and I hope that we can all enjoy a good weight loss over the next few weeks. Strap yourself in everyone.

I am still here after a couple of tricky weeks. I was doing really well, lost kilos at an average of 350g perday and really thought I’d got this woe pegged. Then I didn’t lose, and then I started gaining despite being on plan – then I lost heart ( sulked!) and came off plan and ate bread and potatoes ( not touched in months before). Then, I was ill! Extreme vertigo and nausea – is that because I ate carbs do you think ladies? Anyway, all better now and the shock of that has taught me a lesson! I have not weighed for 2 weeks but aim for a moment of reckoning on Friday! Good luck all – waving at DCT 🙂

Hi everyone – hope you’re all doing well.
Despite not posting, I’ve been doing pretty well. I’ve been strict with my food and lost 4lb in the last couple of weeks. (I was 9st 7lb and now I’m 9st 3lb). Yeah!
I’ve gone back to planning my meals for the week. (Wanting to clear the freezer out pre-Christmas has helped me no end). I’m keeping meals simple (soups, protein – fish or chicken – and greens, the odd steak etc). If I don’t fancy a meal one day, I’ll switch it for another but keep to the week’s menu. It just means I don’t have to think – and relax!
Next target in getting back to basics is to weigh all my food and record carbs, cals and protein.
Yowser – hope you’re feeling better soon.
Antigone – sulking – yes, I recognise that one! I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the carbs. I remember having a painful reaction once after a weekend of eating more carbs than I should have or my Type II body could handle. The arthritic type pain I used to get in my hands came back with a vengeance. Reduced the carbs and the pain went again. It’s really amazing what this woe can do for you, isn’t it.
Cathy – glad that your covid test was negative and that you got to see your son. Good walking! Hope the weigh-in goes well tomorrow,
Got to get ready for our Morrisons food delivery now (it comes at 8 and I’m not dressed yet!) but will catch up again later.

Before I go I just wanted to give a quick shout out to LindaandHubby
Linda – We didn’t manage to get to Conwy on our recent trip to North Wales (too few days and too many relatives to see) but we’ve definitely got Edwards of Conwy in our sights for our next trip. My hubby loves a good butchers as well as fresh fish shops. (So much so that when once my Mum expressed delight at how lovingly he spoke about me, I felt obliged to point out he spoke in the same way about fresh fish!) . Anyway, just wanted to thank you again for the tip. Hope you and hubby are going well.
    Cheers
    Jennie xx
