    Weight: 98.2kg

Following the BSDFast800 diet over 6 weeks I lost 13kg, dropping from 113kg (weight at last hematology appointment) to 99.9kg. The last 2-3 weeks I lapsed back into old eating habits, particularly snacking at night. This coincided with a gradual dip in my mood due to my mild bipolar II (manic depression). I wasn’t paying attention to the third arm of the diet: mindfulness. I also wasn’t doing daily exercise, the other arm of the diet, which would also help to balance my mental health either. Starting Again is my commitment to myself to give the BSDFast800 total dedication and priority in my life so that I reach my goal of health and fitness.

Over the next 8 weeks I aim to lose 13.2kg, taking me down to 85kg.

My eventual goal (by the end of this year) is 65kg which would give me a BMI of 23.9 in the healthy weight range.

This time around I am going to develop a set of main meals that are easy to prepare, use the kinds of foods that we like to eat and are used to eating together with some of the recipes in the Fast800 book. These are going to be calorie and carbohydrate counted and recorded as a series of recipes in a booklet which will form the basis of our ongoing diet and which I can share with others. They will build towards a monthly menu plan. I want to make it as easy as possible for us to continue to eat in this healthy way for the rest of our lives.

What we have both noticed following the BSDFast800 is that we’re not hungry, we don’t feel any adverse effects (provided we drink at least 2 litres of water which alleviates any headaches we experience) and that it hasn’t changed in our diet other than eliminating junk food and high fat/sugar snacks, especially in the evening, and regular commercial iced coffees/chocolates. We both feel well. Robin’s snoring has reduced considerably, only happening quietly now when he is sleeping on his back. I am feeling more energetic and motivated although I still experience chronic fatigue symptoms.

I still don’t feel brave enough to track my waist circumference – simply knowing it will upset me! It is enough to know that it is visibly shrinking. And I am celebrating the wrinkles caused by fat loss around my face and neck. 🙂

    Hi Beverley
congratulations on the loss so far – 15kg is great (i’m an accountant, I always round up!)
Even in the two weeks which weren’t so great, it still looks as if you lost a couple of kilos – sounds more like a continuation than starting again – and of course huge congrats on the new wrinkles!
I’m just at the end of week two – whenever I’ve had the odd day that’s gone over the 800 or 50 carb that I’ve set myself, I just try and think of the next day as a new day & carry on with it – on balance, other days are below the target, and if I have time to fit in a bit more walking I do. Even if I’ve eaten more than planned at lunchtime, or a ‘snack that I didn’t mean to, I still have a low calorie low carb meal in the evening (otherwise I’ll snack again!), rather than abandoning the day.
Both the 800 calories and the 50g of carbs are extremely low, so even with the occasional slip up, every day is way more healthy than the way I used to eat! For me, too many diets have ‘failed’ in the past because I have been too much of a perfectionist and abandoned them if I’ve had a slip up – generally consoling myself with a bar of chocolate!

What an inspiring post Beverley – you’ve come so far. Like you and Robin I really enjoy the feeling of NOT being hungry. I try and follow the 3 principles of the BSD. For me it’s not just about the food. I love the sense of wellness that the combination of the food, exercise and mindfulness gives me.
You’ve put a lot of thought into this – I love your plan of putting together a monthly menu plan. You’ve inspired me.
    Best wishes.

    Thanks Switzerland and Frog.

Today’s weight 96.7kg. Yesterday I fasted as I had a gastro bug which I was hoping to shift out of my system. I have a dreadful headache as I found it difficult to drink water without feeling unwell. Hopefully I’ll feel better today and can re-hydrate myself. That’s my plan. 🙂

Hope you’re feeling better soon, Beverley.
I went out to eat this evening and had miso soup and sashimi, which I felt very good about – and then sneaked a small slice of my friends aubergine tempura – it was amazing!
AND – not even counting the aubergine, SEVEN portions of vegetables. Just over on calories – 839, but dead on 50g of carbs. (calories and carbs are including the tempura!)

We’re very happy with Robin’s weight loss which is much less than me as he doesn’t have much to lose. I love how even though we’re almost eating the same food including portion size the diet works on our individual bodies. He has almost stopped snoring – and the horrid sleep apnea is completely gone. The sleep specialist said it was probably due to losing a few kilos – only a a few made this difference.

My guts are still a little bit unhappy so I think I’ll take it easy again today.
