I’m into week 8 now and have been thinking about the next step. I started with the July starters but don’t know how many are still around. If you want/need a second 8 weeks please join in from next Tuesday. Or even if you’re just starting come along too.

    Everyone’s welcome aboard!

    See you next Tuesday.

Well I’m on week 8 now. I guess in total I need to lose another stone/stone and a half (to get to my lowest, lowest weight EVER) so I don’t really want to stop this way of eating until I’ve reached that. I can join you for some of the way – but I’m off to Canada in 3 weeks (for 4 weeks) so won’t be around for a bit! My sister is tiny, though, and eats so healthily that I’m hoping I won’t put anything on whilst there. In fact, I may lose some as my sister and the boys are always so active!
So, yes! VERANO – I can join you for some of the way! ๐Ÿ˜‰

But I want 16 to 20 lbs loss in these next eight weeks more than I will want a bl……..y jam tart, not very keen on jam.๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”

    Hi all.
Hope you are all having a good day. Now I am day two of the beginning of week 9, and 33lbs down, I am feeling amazing, walking all day, limitless energy. Still tacking this plan seriously, have no wish to hear about eating cake etc. I’m in it for the long haul. This plan works for me because I don’t eat cake etc, I wouldn’t want to trigger of the appetite again. I am following captainlynnes excellent example she has lost 86 lbs to date by sticking to this plan, not adding extra bits, calories carbs or whatever. It may work for some but not for me. My mind isn’t trained enough yet.
I’ve come back from life threatening symptoms, and have no wish to go back there again. Sorry to keep repeating myself, but it helps me to stay focused. Being on hol is lovely but throws up so may obstacles.๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…

Brenda BRENDA427 I wish you all the best on your new adventure. You are definitely going to be embarking on the Lose Cruise(!) ready for your Real Cruise!! This is an amazing way of eating and is surprisingly easy to stick with. I’m coming to the end of week 8 and have lost around 11 pounds. Not as much as the others but I’m nearer to goal PLUS I have health issues including an underactive thyroid and weight loss throughout the many years of trying has always bean slow for me. This method is the fastest way of losing weight – but also the best because it completely changes the way you look at food. It won’t just be for 8 weeks, your new healthy low-carb way of eating will continue forever! Isn’t it exciting!!

    Great news Janet!

You are so right you just have to stick to the plan and it does work.

I’m struggling to get to my first stone but that’s because I’m NOT sticking to 800 calories and low enough carbs. I thought I would ease myself in gently and it has worked to a certain extent in that I no longer feel hungry or crave sweet foods etc.

I use Fatsecret and I checked my progress this morning and whilst my carbs have come down from an average of 91 a day in July to 74 a day this month it’s still no where near low enough.

I decided to make a concerted effort over my last five days and reading of your success just reconfirms that it only works when you stick to the plan rigidly.

Good luck with the next 8 and I hope you reach your new goal of 16lbs … 20 would be a bonus!

Bean, Keep going luvvy, you will get there, we will all get there, this way of eating is the future, don’t forget to measure waist etc, I noticed the weeks I plateaued I was loosing a lot of c.m.

Verano, yes you’ve worked it out, when I got over my plateau which was due to complacency, trying to eat more etc I started also regularly walking and when I did that stuck to 50 below carbs and 800 cals, my weight loss shot up, to the point I am now hoping to continue 3-4 lbs weight loss a week, and if you are able to weigh yourself in kilos, you will may even see a daily difference which I find very inspiring.. I also write a daily diary of how the day’s been and I find that very good for looking at what went right or wrong and why.

I need to get to target more than I need cake and piazza etc, life is short and I don’t want to shorten mine by eating c…p no matter how nice it tastes.

Oh yes Bean the bake of programme, I made myself watch it, trying to sort of desensitise myself to c….. But have decided I’m not ready to look at things like that. Cor blimey I know how an alcoholic feels now. So the c word is a no go for me , loving being slimmer more๐Ÿ‘™ Well I can wish can’t I, I didn’t even look good in a bikini when I was 19. So definitely not at 58 hehe๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž

My advice to all of us cake lovers..look at cake and think ” sugar and fat” and visualise a block of lard and a packet of sugar on the plate instead of that tempting looking delight! It helps! X

    Hi Janet

Glad you’re feeling good at the moment and with your achievement why not!!!

I was thinking that maybe next Tuesday everyone could log on with their aims and goals for the next 8 weeks . Some will be on week one or two some on week 9 and some on week 10 like you. That doesn’t really matter we can all take the same new 8 week journey together.

It will be great to have the ‘elders’ for their wisdom and some of the pitfalls and the enthusiasm of the ‘newbies’. I think we’ll make a great group helping each other along the way. Think it could be helpful if we all report our progress each Tuesday even if it’s not your ‘official’ weigh in day, which I think may make a more cohesive group. Don’t know what you think.

I just thought that if everybody reported their losses on the same day it would be easier to judge our own performance. Although, in saying that I know only too well that some people lose faster than others …. I’m one of the slower ones but that’s because I’m not as vigilant as the ‘fasties’!

I’m coming to the end of my first 8 and have been evaluating my new way of eating and I realised, for the first time, this morning, that I’m now in control. I have managed to jump off that fast train heading towards diabetic complications.

I enjoy this way of eating and don’t feel deprived at all just feel healthier, even though I have only lost 12lbs, hopefully, 13 by Tuesday. It’s amazing what you can do with a cauliflower or a courgette!!!

I have lots to loose too so looks like we’re both going to be here for a while yet!

    Hi Everyone

I’m a newbie and just joining the party. I’m a 48 year old Type 2 Diabetic with an underactive thyroid and currently 4 1/2 stone overweight. I’ve had a weight problem for most of my life but have had slim periods (though admittedly not in the last 15 years!) Lots of reasons for that, but historically I have found it difficult to lose weight and have a great talent for self sabotage when things start to look good, so have managed to lose and gain 11/2 stone TWICE in the last year. I’m not on any meds and my HBA1C is actually pretty good and has been as low as 4.9 a year ago but last test was 5.5 so it has gone up. Though my triglycerides were through the roof after my last test, so I have been referred to a specialist next month for that. It was that test result that made me decide to get serious about losing weight.

I have been doing daily intermittent fasting (not eating until 11) for about a month and I’m on Day 3 now of the BSD and have lost 3lbs. Not the big losses that others are showing, but I’m pleased so far. I have already lost 8lbs following a different plan previously but must admit to being drawn to the amazing results that people have been seeing with the BSD.

I’m looking forward to connecting, sharing results and recipes over the next few weeks.

Hi Jooles, I have just finished 8 weeks with slow weight loss. BUT if you want your triglycerides to go down it has certainly done that for me, way way down, along with cholesterol and HBA1c (down from 8.1 to 6.6 official). My husband has also seen fantastic results with triglycerides, cholesterol and blood pressure (he doesn’t need to lose weight, skinny man). He saw the doctor today who is so happy and mentioned that my husband must be on the same diet as me and my husband said yes, but she (me) lets me have chips sometimes. Not fair is it. Anyway, we are both doing well. I will be back on Tuesday with my new stats and goals.

The doctor said, just shows the power of advertising over good sense. Butter every time now although because I don’t eat bread or pots I don’t use a lot of butter except for cooking but I used to measure out oils almost to the quarter teaspoon now I splash it around, especially olive oil. Don’t use veg oils except for rapeseed.

Everyone is doing so well on here. My eight weeks ends on Sep 3rd and I am then away for four weeks. My weight loss is slow compared to many of you despite keeping to a max of 800 cals daily and below 30 carbs but I’m still happy with what I’ve achieved so far – 7.5kg and still a week to go. I’ll join the second eight weeks as I’ve got another 16kg to go. Like some of you I’m really wary of getting sucked back into carbs – I really think I was genuinely addicted. A packet of bicuits or a tray of cakes didn’t stand a chance while I was around and I’d go for any heavy sauce pasta dish in a restaurant. I’m terrified of setting that trigger off again so think the longer I can eat well on this and stay healthy then I’m sticking to it. Well done everyone – you keep me going onwards and downwards.

Thanks @sunshine-girl for the encouragement. It’s good to know that your cholesterol went way down – my doctor was so concerned by my results that he didn’t even want to have the statins conversation this time… he just referred me to a lipids specialist. I’m really hoping by doing this for 2 weeks, my results will be much better after the next blood test on Sept 6.

    Hi Jooles
My cholesterol is normal again (and that was from the tests just 4 weeks into BSD)
In September it was 5.9 – normal is between 2.5 and 5.0
When it was tested in June, about 4 weeks after I’d started BSD, it had fallen to 4.0, and was about 4.2 last week.
My liver is fatty no more
Pre BSD my HBa1C result was 106 – after 4 weeks on BSD it had dropped to 61, and after 13 weeks (and stopping Metformin when I got the ’61’ result back), it’s dropped down to 38, with the ‘normal’ range being between 20 and 42.

So it does work! I hope that your test results next week (week after?) are good.

I am in – great idea! Just finished first eight weeks on Wed and down 33.7 lbs. Going to see my dr on Monday and actually looking forward to it! Last saw her in Jan and have lost a total of 46.1 lbs since that visit (was hoping to hit 50 but oh well).

It’s not even so much that I am committed to another 8 weeks as I don’t see any point to changing what I’m doing. I love the food, love that I actually want to exercise every day, and I still have more to lose. So why do anything else?

That’s the question I’m going to discuss with my dr because at this point it actually seems unappealing to add a bunch of calories to what I’m doing if I feel good. Though I should say I am strongly of the opinion that, though I have followed the book recipes to the letter, I’m quite sure I’ve been eating more than 800 calories/day based on apps that calculate calories. Which is fine – I feel good and have lost almost 17% of my body weight since Jan – who cares what the calorie count is?

    Oh hi Indy

I’m also a Wednesday weigher, and also lost 33lbs at the end of my week eight so I think we started same day, how weird we’ve both lost the same. I’m 5ft 6 and had 104 lbs to loose. But I went to my docs last week, as the nurse was unnerved by what I was doing, and insisted in checking everything poss by blood tests, hehe bless her I had been the living dead for a few years, but went back for the results, and she made the doc come in and they were flabbergasted, in the reversal of a shed load of symptoms some of them potentially life threatening. But I wasn’t there asking them is this okay I was telling them this is what I am doing, I feel great I exercise in order to stop my body using heart muscle etc for energy and , as they are not on top of this latest research into immune and diabetis diets obviously otherwise they wouldn’t have been as amazed as they were by my amazing results.
Anyway long story short I am now my surgerys official Guinea pig, and I will be monitored with a view to perhaps others being encouraged to do it. I’ve pointed them to all the relevant research.
I also agree re the count on the recipes the no carb Bircher for ex. Has something like 32 carbs. I only counted a few but they were about 20% over the suggested totals. As we have both said if it isn’t broke don’t aim to fix it.
Glad you are on our BSD bus. Hope you have a great b.h. If in uk๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž

Ok… for all of you who are going for the second time round, … I have a few questions if that’s ok

    1. Do you do shakes at all or try to do your 800 cals with food only? If you do do shakes – do you use a protein powder and what is your favourite recipe

    2. Does anyone follow the guideline to drink 150ml of red wine (I love red wine, so this would be a real treat, but obviously reduces the amount of food that can be eaten)

    3. What exercise do you you do? And do you do it daily

    4. How do you track you calories and do you weigh and measure everything

    Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚
