    Good morning everyone,

Reading everyone’s news is such a cool way to start my day here in Dubai! Can’t wait for my rings to start sliding down my fingers. (Or anything else I put on to slide off, frankly!!)

I have nice news: after a ‘good’ couple of days post my re-start I decided to brave it and get on the scales again ten minutes ago for the first time in a few weeks. The scales tells that I have taken all off the weight gain and a tiny bit more than my lowest weight on the BSD so far, so I’m definitely very, very happy with that. 4kgs now – just over 9 lbs. I’m back on my way down <dancing>

A few challenges ahead in the next 30 hours, including an expensive ‘all you can eat’ style brunch tomorrow with friends over from Australia (the tendency being to want to eat all you can to get your money’s worth – not my choice but they wanted to go so I’m sucking it up), but I’m psyched up and ready to go. I know I can do this.

God, I’d love it if I got taller during this process!!!! That is some result!

    I’M BACK IN THE GAME!!!!
    Have a good day all,
    Sarah

I just love opening up my emails and seeing all your posts😁I also love reading them during my teabreak at work. This is the first time I have stayed on a forum this long and I’ve been on a few over the years😐I think it’s because we are all going through the same trials and tribulations. Someone asked about quirky results of this diet. Apart from my ring sliding off while washing up….I love that my work uniform is easier to zip up and is showing looseness at the shoulders. I have noticed a collar bone appearing and my watch is sliding down my wrist. The downside..and I don’t know if I am imagining this but my face looks a bit more fatigued as though it’s lost some fat and has dropped a bit…more defined nose to mouth lines. 😱

Ziggy I’ve been noticing those nose to mouth lines a lot lately, makes me look sad and grumpy. I didn’t think I’d lost enough to make that kind of difference. But they’ve seemed really pronounced the last few weeks, so it’s not just you.

Hi Miss Ziggy & Natalie – I too have noticed the skin on my face is looking looser and more crepey / saggy. I’ve lost about 9kg / 10% of body weight and I’m only half way to my initial weight loss goal. Definitely not enjoying this side effect 🙁 I remember years ago my mother lost a lot of weight when she turned 60 – the wrinkles came in with a vengeance, but I was hoping I still had (relative) youth on my side! Any miracle cures for skin firming / tightening would be greatly appreciated 🙂

Hey folks, I’ve been a silent presence for past couple of weeks. Reading avidly but not quite summoning the energy to respond. This diet sure is an endurance test. Now my workload has tripled I’m wishing I could eat a bit more.

I keep trying to hold on to the big picture- which is that I’ve lost almost 16lbs in about 5 and a half weeks. That makes it worthwhile!

Big love and energy to get to the other end to you all. Onwards and downwards!

Lara, Miss Ziggy and Natalie, I know, the skin thing is a bit of a shock! I started noticing it under my eyes but have a great cream to rcommend, it’s the original Nivea cream in the blue tub, it’s absolutely amazing! Really thick though so you don’t need heaps but it plumps my skin up like nothing else. And it’s so cheap!! Just make sure you get the one that says ‘ made in Germany’ it’s the original formula.Had stopped for a bit as it takes a while to soak in but back on it with a vengeance and can already see a difference. Interesting to read the Daily Mail article on it…
Also Rosehip oil at night, a few drops and your skin looks great in the morning.
Good luck everyone for today and the weekend, I’m still losing and gaining the same two kilos, lol.

    Morning all,

300g down overnight – woo hoo. That’s more than half a pound. It feels bloody brilliant to be back in control.

Feeling saintly too: ordered a tomato-based fish soup for lunch in an Italian place yesterday while my girlfriends tucked into pasta (although I had a controlled amount of bread to go with it). Then I had dinner out last night and ordered a green salad (specified with plain dressing on the side so I could control the amount) with a side order of grilled salmon (specified no oil). My visiting best friend who has known me for years and knows my lack of control around food, looked on in amazement and open support. Never, never thought I would be able to conduct myself like this. Talk about a NSV!

Today’s challenge: the $$$ all-you-can-eat buffet brunch (a Dubai Friday tradition to start the weekend). A glutton’s paradise. This time I’ll be paying a fortune to eat relatively little. Again, the strategy is to go heavy on the seafood with some salad. Luckily I’m not a dessert lover or I’d be done for!

Best friend leaves tonight and then I’ll be back to home-cooked meals, with less fish and more veg. But I have done superbly well in my choices this week and am proud of myself!

The skin thing freaks me out I admit: I haven’t lost enough weight yet to notice a difference but am sure it will come and I’m not looking forward to it. My current fat pads out my wrinkles – the only benefit! I have heard Rosehip Oil is excellent too. I use Vitamin E oil with a few drops of Frankincense essential oil mixed in at night and my skin is pretty good. Maybe I should be putting the money I am saving on groceries with his diet into a Facelift and Botox savings jar, lol…

    Have a good day everyone.

Haha Sarah, loved the Botox comment, I haven’t noticed this facial lines thing either – yet – but to be honest most of my fat is around my waist, a typical apple, skinny legs and arms on the apple of fat. IT has reduced though apart from my ring I haven’t had anything fall down, I think I was just wearing everything mega tight with the rolls coming over the waistband – now doesn’t that paint an attractive picture for all of you out there! Hee he.

So, this morning is my last weigh in for a week, we are visiting friends that I haven’t seen for over 30 years, and yes that has been a mega incentive, I have stuck to the plan carefully this week, drunk loads – Lakes of – water, and the weight has gone down to my lowest since the weight watchers starving myself incident over 30 years ago. I was. SO pleased when I got on the scales this morning and I had gone down in weight again – I nearly fell off the scales, BUT it’s bittersweet I am going on holiday and I know I will drink, not to excess but I will drink and the food choices won’t be easy – my cousin who we are visiting said come to lunch I’ll make some rolls and sandwiches, what can you say, she was so excited, and it’s hard to say to peeps, well actually I don’t eat this that and the other, but due to not eating this food I have lost 9.5 lbs and haven’t had acid reflux for six weeks – tricky! So whilst I am having meals out I will try to do what all you clever ladies, and men do, and have fish, steak and salad, contrary to what it sounds like I am looking forward to the holiday and had better now go and pack.

Have great weight and inch loss, sorry this has turned into War and Peace, speak soon, love

Tee hee – thanks Pat! Same to you. I’m so chuffed both for you and for everyone else (like me) who started this lifestyle change without much hope. We’re all doing brilliantly. Especially proud of you given your dieting history. I have come to the conclusion that carb avoidance is impossible in modern life: there will always be well-meaning sandwiches made and potatoes everywhere. As for your holiday, if your weight goes up a little bit then you know you will get back on the plan and lose it again. I’m not advocating you forget the BSD and have a blow-out, but I am suggesting that you keep the faith that once you are home you will lose anything you put on, so enjoy yourself a little and try and maybe stick to 80/20 where you can. So many of us have spent so many years beating ourselves up over the food we put in our mouths: I’m now trying to favour the quality over quantity method!

Right, I’m off to face the dreaded buffet – now not so dreaded as i’m on control and I’ve ‘got this’. x

PS: I’m an apple too, with fat arms to boot – worst body shape ever but at least we’ve usually got good legs!

🤔ok off to get some Rosehip Oil…but for me I think the problem is slackening skin on the face😱It’s like I have drooped😭What I do know is I can’t afford a course of treatments at a salon so I will have to do something at home. I think I need a cream for toning. I might look into facial toning exercises there must be such a thing?? I am also an apple shape. lean legs and arms with bread dough for a stomach and a podgy face. This visceral fat thing is awful. Not only does it look bad but it’s so unhealthy. This is what is keeping me going with this diet. I also have a spa day booked in January with my flat bellied skinny friend. ….I was always uncomfortable and embarrassed with myself when we’ve done spa days before. The spa day is a good incentive to keep going. I will be on the look out for a really good swimsuit. I want one that has been made with extreme engineering😂😂😂

I have reached the end of week 5 and I am so proud of myself for sticking with it. I am down a total of 22 lbs and 6 inches off my waist. I am wearing clothes I haven’t been able to fit into for ages and I feel much better. This past week I had two dinners out and both times I didn’t follow the diet exactly. I did, however, make way better choices than I would have in the past and eat far less. I am trying to see the bigger picture about this being a lifestyle change. I have about 10 lbs to my initial goal, so I need to adjust my way of thinking and eating for the long term. Good luck everyone as we move into another week on the BSD!

Well done A new me. That is a fantastic amount to be down on week 5! Official weigh day and starting week 7 tomorrow. Husband just gone for the shopping after we planned our meals for 5 days. I agree it is a lifestyle change and not a diet. For the first time in my life I am thinking about what food to buy/cook and have in the house. We are out for supper tomorrow and have tried to work around having extra calories by having two days quite low or bang on 800.

My weight loss is 14lbs so far which for me is thrilling because normally I go on a diet lose a pound or two then lose interest after a couple of weeks because I didn’t see results. Within the last week have had to buy a size 14, the waist has shrunk so has fallen down the hips and threatened a wardrobe malfunction!!

400g down overnight ( a whoosh!) AND I didn’t hold back at the all-you-can-eat buffet yesterday too – I just made different choices to what I would have done in the past. Now hovering at 4.7kgs (just below 10.5 lbs) loss total. (I just realised my loss has just gone into the double digits on the lbs front for the first time. Woo hoo!)

Ladies, delighted to see your losses coming though so strongly above. You help keep me facing forward 🙂 I want my clothes/rings/watches to start falling off though – not happening yet so am super jealous!!

Amazon is pretty good for beauty stuff now – I’m a beauty junkie and recently bought some good quality Vitamin C and Retinol serums off there for a price I was delighted with.

Miranda: my arms are a nightmare zone (always have been) so am going to start working on those this coming week. I haven’t worn a strappy top since my teens due to self-consciousness and it’s one of my personal ambitions still, in my 40s. You don’t need to invest in a personal trainer (unless you want to) – there are many great videos now on YouTube for this kind of thing and all you need is two cans of baked beans (or similar) to improvise as weights. I love the (free) Gillian Michaels Power Yoga videos on YouTube – super hard at first but I could see they’d be really effective. In fact, I have just decided to get back into this this week: time to up the ante on the fitness front here. Good luck too!

Hi. My name is Yvonne, British and live in South Africa. I started on the 1st November so am 12 days in. It would be nice to share so can I join? I have had a few moments but it passes. I just drink water or herbal tea if it gets too much. I am 66 and live alone so when following the recipe plan I have a lot of ingredients in my fridge which go fraught. So I find that if I follow the recipe for 2, I just eat the same as the day before. Have lost 4 kg.

Lara I have the same problem only one person at work has noticed my weight loss but quite a few have said I look tired too. AS I haven’t started an excerise routine yet I might dedicate a few minutes each day to face exercise. 😐IN PRIVATE😂😂😂 I have a bicycle but we are heading into the wrong time of the year for cycling in the U.K. I have also thought about going for a walk each day after work. I have also been thinking of a Pilates for beginners class.
Well today I am off to a family gathering and will try to make good choices. I have decided to ignore deserts and will have a glass of wine or two and get back to BSD on Sunday.

Hello Yvonne welcome & very well done on your weight loss! So your eight weeks will include the Christmas period? or will you relax it for a few days? I’m still going to be following it until I get down to my goal weight but my husband will probably stop after our eight weeks at the end of November when he will have more blood tests done & see the GP.
Inka13 & Miss Ziggy I have now got darker shadows under my eyes & at my history group it was commented that my face looked thinner! I think it was meant as a compliment but because I haven’t much extra weight on my face I hope I won’t end up looking haggard🙀On the face oil debate you have all reminded me I have some unused Decleor oil that I have massaged into my face today & when that runs out I will get some rosehip oil😀
On body shapes there seem to be a number of “apples” here am I the only pear shaped female? It’s my stomach hips thighs & legs that need to reduce but I’m bound to be left with loose wrinkled skin & stretch marks that because of my age, 69 next week, means my skin is much less flexible & resilient now. I have read that body brushing to increase circulation & lots of moisturiser as well as spot exercising will help. I have wished all my life to have nicely shaped slim legs 😥 so you apple shaped ladies are fortunate in that regard. I always cover up my lower half with trousers & mid calf length skirts although I haven’t worn a dress or skirt since my sons wedding a couple of years ago when my legs were revealed in a knee length dress & looked truly awful. I had lost weight for it but felt embarrassed with how I looked🙁🙁. Oh well this way of eating can’t change our basic body shape but we will be slimmer & healthier & very well done everyone for sticking with this despite your ups & downs.

Hi All well done on your losses this week. Well the woosh fairy has visited me twice in 2 days (I do love her) 6lb loss this week after putting on 1lb last week. I have learnt over the last 6 weeks not to worry too much about the scales as they go up and down every day even though you stick to plan. I am so happy with my 22lb weight loss in 6 weeks and still enjoying what I am eating. I have decided to stay on plan for 12 weeks before my break this takes me to Xmas eve so will be able to partake in some of the festivities. I have never been so organised with planning and shopping in my life since starting this plan and I am finding this is key to my losses and more significantly the changes to my blood sugars. Feeling 100% positive moving into week 7, and anyone feeling low today don’t worry about the plateaus from experience it really does get moving again with perseverance. Happy week 7 everyone onwards and downwards 😀

Can’t believe I’ve managed to stick with this (for the first time ever), and have a loss of 18lbs to show for it. I’m just going to carry on after the eight weeks, I will have a relax, probably 3 days over Christmas, but not go too mad.
I’m noticing that after meals, which, quantity wise are much smaller, I’m really quite full. I know it sounds stupid but I can’t ever remembering eating a meal and NOT wanting something sweet or cheese and crackers straight after. Now don’t even think about it.

Fairyface, I hope you are not discouraged. You’ve had a swoosh week, but as long as you are sticking to it the scales WILL come down again in a whoosh when your body is ready. Plus, if you have managed to stick to the plan this week I’d call that a ‘good week’ wouldn’t you? It’s all relative: ultimately it’s about changing habits after all, so if you have had another week of doing this I count your week as a success.

Wendy 1947: you are lucky to be a pear, even if you don’t feel like it! Firstly because having an apple shape is proven to have much higher risk of a number of killer diseases. Secondly because you probably have a neat top half and a tiny waist. It’s a sexy shape and some of us would kill for that!!! Body brushing is great but you do need to stick with it for a while to see results, and always brush in the direction of your heart. This is vital for the lymph flow or something.

I still have a long way to go on the scales but I know from the way that I am bothering to style my hair again, paint my nails, moisturise my body and generally put more effort into my appearance that even my relative ‘drop in the ocean loss’ (15% of total target now) is having a terrific effect on my morale. I feel bouncier, more confident and so much more attractive than I have in a long time. I am going to keep going on the Fast800 indefinitely given it is the only thing that has worked for me in many years. But I am also planning some roast potatoes on Christmas Day and already thinking about them, yum!

Just a little discouraged Carb-Addict. I do agree with you it was a good week having lost something. I have said even half a lb a week is something to be pleased with. I have upped my water and have tried to drink 2-3 litres a day. I have managed to stick to the plan with a few nuts on two evenings. (six almonds) Also discovered overnight oats which I have had twice this week and absolutely love. Not going to do them next week.
Skipped breakfast this morning and just had the butternut squash and pepper soup for lunch and pork loin chop and veg tonight as we are going to my sister in laws for supper. I will be taking a bottle of fizzy water to drink as I don’t want wine or coke. Also I will put a few almonds in my handbag so I don’t eat the salted nuts and bombay mix she will have out. Not sure what she will be cooking but I will not eat pasta, rice or potatoes. I think I should be okay with everything else in moderation.
I also think I will change my scales over to stones and lbs from kgs. Perhaps if I work in lbs I will feel better.
I can now get upstairs so much easier and have no excuse to start going for walks. Nothing energetic to start. Possibly I should have done this at the begining of week six.

Note to self……I will not fail with this diet and half a pound a week off is better than on!

I went shopping today and in the changing room under the glare of the lights and the large mirror noticed for the first time that the skin on my thighs is looking saggy. It isn’t noticeable under clothes thankfully. My face isn’t too bad but I have been moisturising and massaging it a lot more than I used to, as it appears to have shifted from oily to combination, with some very dry areas.

Lost 2 pounds this week for a total of 24 (a large turkey 🙂 only 1/2″ in my hips, though.

My face isn’t sagging and the bags under my eyes are shrinking, but my neck looks like a turtle’s. Bought some Gold Bond neck and chest cream so I’m hoping that helps. And my ankles are still cankles–I think I may have pseudo gout because I don’t drink enough water. I’m going to see what happens when I lose about 20 more pounds and if I still have cankles I guess I’ll have to go to a specialist. If I lose anymore in my bra cup size, I won’t even need a bra…..but my diamond ring almost fits me again–haven’t worn it in years.

The receptionist at work noticed that I am losing weight, but was concerned when I said that I had a long way to go. That made me laugh because I have a ways to go to even be just overweight. Two ladies did the bone marrow soup diet and they look fantastic–don’t think I could drink that stuff, though. I did start taking the capsules, however. I figured it couldn’t hurt.

Since I usually go over my 800 calories on most days, I’m planning on sticking with this for a long time. I’m still eating much less than I was on September 30th–so I think it’s a healthier WOE. I’ve pretty much kicked my diet soda habit and am drinking more green tea; my doctor will be happy about that. It’s taken me 15 years to put on this weight so it’s not going to be gone in eight weeks, but this is an excellent start!

Do any of you use a rebounder? I think that helps tighten your skin, too. There’s a bike, treadmill and elliptical at work I have access to and I’m thinking of getting a Fitness Board for when the work schedule gets crazy.

Two weeks to go for the eight–sounds like we are all having little victories–have a great week my fellow “losers” and thanks for all the entertaining posts.

Wow sounds like everyone is having some great losses whether they’re in inches or lbs. I myself it’s more inches than lbs but at least that’s going down. Though little stuffed now after having spent all day decorating and putting a floor down in sapre bedroom and only having had a slice of bacon and 2 fried eggs I wanted something a bit more. So i had a mixed grill from the indian (i did give some to hubby) with salad but they put in a free veg curry side dish which I love and I succumbed! Feel so bad now but hopefully it won’t affect me to badly. I must admit I’m not drinking enough water at mo as been so busy at work so will increase that. As to the loose skin saga i use avon creams especially their firming and plumping cream and always massage it in in an upward movement and this should help. It’s not to expensive either. It’s really helped me. Ive just got to do this rest of my body now! Lol and thanks Frog i will try the alexandra technique xx

Ok I am back home from a family gathering and not one person noticed my weight loss😭😭😭I was hoping that as I haven’t seen them for months someone might have mentioned it but no😭😭😭😭 . Ho hum onwards and upwards !! Dinner today was an early Christmas Dinner Turkey and all the trimmings it was already dished up on the plated and I didn’t want to make a fuss. ONe glass of white wine and a fruit salad for dessert. I didn’t eat any cakes biscuits or chocolates, cheesecake or treacle tart which was on offer! More biscuits and cakes served with tea before we left for home and I just had a cup of tea. I had no desire for the sweet stuff so that was good.
Seriously…so what if no one noticed . I am doing this for me and no one else.

Hang in there MissZiggy! Most people are actually not that observant. We see what we expect to see, so it might take a few more pounds /kgs lost before people start to take notice. I don’t know how much weight you’ve lost, but for me its just under 9kgs. I’m still wearing many of the same clothes (they just fit me properly now / are getting a bit loose :-)) so I think that also means people aren’t conscious of the changes happening.

And absolutely true that we are doing this for ourselves and no one else (although its going to be great when those compliments do start to come in 🙂

I am sorry to hear that MissZiggy – we all look for external affirmation when we’re achieving something we are proud of. It will come, but as you say, you’re not doing this for compliments, you’re doing it for you – and you’re doing great.

I’m down 400g overnight according to the scales. Seems like a lot so it might be water. That brings me to 5.1kg total. (And no one has noticed my weight loss either yet – probably because I have another 25kg to go!)

Two of my current life-savers are:

    1) The Barenaked range of carb-free/ very low-cal ‘noodles’ and ‘rice’. I know someone else hated them (MissZiggy I think?) but I am crazy about them – they enable me to bulk up a meal without any real effect on the cals and carbs. They’re pretty flavourless so I tend to add a splash of soy sauce and then they’re much nicer on the tongue. And being a carb addict they allow me to tuck into a bowl of noodles without consequence, yay. (Just 20 kcals and 0 carbs for a large portion)

    2) I have been enjoying a lot of roasted white fish (low cal and no carbs) covered with a teaspoon of fancy mustard before it goes in the oven. I bought some lovely posh French mustards from the ‘Maille’ brand – French dijon, Provencal herb, green herb – and they make the fish feel very luxurious and ‘dinner party standard’. Also helps stop the fish from drying out. I think the regular yellow mustard works just as well. (I can’t stand mustard in any other guise, just on fish!)

Saving the weirdest thought until last: I am starting to get excited about seeing my collarbone at some point: mine as always been hidden by fat. That and my hip bones hopefully: have never met them either. Looking forward to smaller boobs too. All of these thoughts have real novelty factor, even if I’m a long way off it happening just yet. Every ‘successful’ day brings me more confidence that it will happen though! Have a good day all x

    CArb Addict and Lara,

Thanks for your kind words. Yes you are right …I was wearing clothes that I have worn before and now they fit better👌
Carb addict…saying hello to my collar bone was a good feeling😁😁😁
Another good feeling I noticed yesterday …I decided to cut my toenails and found it so much easier because I have less tummy in the way.
    Life savers for me:-
    Spiralised courgettes
    Fruit tea
    Roasted vegetables-usually peppers,courgettes,aubergines onions.
roasted cauliflower in place of roasted potato.
Bags of frozen berries that I add to yogurt.
PLJ which I add to sparkling water.
Scotch eggs which I make myself a lifesaver at lunch time.

    MIss ZIggy……KEEP ON KEEPING ON💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽

Oh Miss Ziggy don’t despair, people I think do notice subconsciously and just don’t think to comment, or feel awkward doing do, as if they are drawing attention to your old weight?? There’s no way it’s not noticeable but I know how frustrating it is. I practically had to tie my dad to a chair and interrogate him for him to admit he’d noticed I’d lost a little. He’s never hesitated commenting when I’ve put weight on though….!!
You are being so strong and for what it’s worth, motivating me hugely, especially after my massive week of blow outs, today I ate everything that wasn’t nailed down ( off the wagon more than in these days) but cannot wait till tomorrow to get back to feeling good!
You have already made a huge difference to your health and body and it will only get better and better…!

Miranda, the Nivea cream made in Poland is probably fine. When I was researching it someone mentioned that the one made in Thailand had a slightly different formula and that they preferred the original, made in Germany. Much of a muchness though, I think. A great arm toning exercise is the plank, I do it in Pilates and amazing for the tum as well, just google the instructions but v quick to do 😃

Inka13 – I hear you. I fell off the wagon a bit in week 3 and then full on in week 4, and literally had to tie myself down to force myself back on it in week 5. I was too scared to even weigh myself when I restarted, so I didn’t until I felt better again. What I have found is that, by forcing myself to go through the tricky first few days again, it got easier again much faster this time and the weight is dropping off again. I got back on the horse so you can do it too – just push through the first couple of days and you’ll be fine. It will help if you are hitting around 3 litres of water a day too – it makes all the difference. YOU CAN DO IT!!! I’m off to hold some planks now 🙂

Thank you Carbaddict, you are very inspiring and I don’t know what I would do without the unconditional support that is on here.I WILL do this! I felt so yuck and unhealthy the whole day as I was shovelling this rubbish down yet couldn’t seem to stop. Maybe I just had to get it out of my system!! I could actually watch my stomach swelling with the sugar and bread, quite interesting really and mortifying too!!
    Downwards I go….😊

Inka, yes I get that too. my falling off the wagon made me realise three things: a) how rubbish I felt physically after eating the stuff I previously loved – bloated and flabby b) that I didn’t miss it as much as I thought I had** and c) how fast I regained the weight I had fought so hard to lose. When you are shovelling it in you’re not actually ‘tasting’ anything – you are just feeding the self-sabotaging chimp inside.

**the exception here is olive bread. Damn I miss that stuff and damn it tasted good. It will feature in my life post BSD to a lesser extent I have decided but I resist the stuff now safe in the knowledge that it’s not a finite resource and will still be on the bakery shelves when I have gotten to where I want to be. A temporary separation for the greater good and a long-held dream of slimness! A sacrifice worth making x1 million 🙂

Carb Addict that is something I’ve been reminding myself of too. All that stuff will still be there after the BSD. Tonight I was watching other people eat Doritos (actually I left the room but I could smell the cheesiness!) and I reminded myself that it would only make me feel bloated and sick BUT if at some point in the future I really wanted Doritos, they would still have plenty on the shelf in the shops! The world is not about to run out of any of that stuff, so I don’t have to have in now or risk missing out forever.

Oooo Carb Addict….I am not one for fish but I am going to try the Dijon mustard over fish.
I survived a vist to our sister in laws last night. She did not put salad or cheese out.
But she did have a beef casserole, fried potatoes, chicken coated in something spicy and coleslaw. Oh and a quiche.
I had the chicken and a splodge of coleslaw. We took soda water and lime for me to drink as I did not want to drink wine or the
coke. My husband is not very pleased with me because I did not tell them we were on a diet, I really don’t want to tell people in real life as I think they will all say something if I fail. At the moment I could not cope with the comments. Silly I know and so unlike me.

Inka13….I cannot tell you how much I miss bread in any shape or form. But I must say I feel so much better for not eating it, no swollen tum, bowles normal (reasonably) no after meal slump (wanting to sit and go to sleep). I so agree, there will be plenty of food I am missing still in the shops if I get down to a reasonable weight (not decided yet) in the future.

Everyone is describing their body shape. Mine is a bit of apple, mixed in with pear and tree trunk legs:-/

Onwards and downwards. Keep posting folks. You are all inspiring me.x

Miss Ziggy….PLJ is something my mum used to have years ago. I have started to have a couple of lemon slices with hot water as a first drink of the day. I don’t know if it does anything but I am enjoying it. What a memory you have woken upx

That’s weird – I came across PLJ in Tescos the other week – the staple of many diets in the 70’s – I used to hate it, but thought I’d give it a try, I bought a lime one instead of lemon. It sat on the shelf until I decided to try it yesterday – and it’s OK. Then yours was the first post I saw on logging in Fairyface.
As I was trying the first glass I read quite a lot about “lemon juice diets” and the benefits of drinking lemon juice every morning, so had decided to give it a go for a while – I may get a large bag of lemons next time I’m shopping, but the plj is convenient.
I’m definitely going to have some every morning – on of the things I read was suggesting half an hour before you eat or drink anything else, so makes it perfect for when Froglet wants breakfast at 5.30 or 6 (she doesn’t know anything about clocks going back) and then I go back to bed. I may give it a go to have some before every meal, or alternatively just resort to it whenever I get a craving for mindless grazing.

Natalie – to put you off of Doritos, google “how pringles are made” – there were discussions and links on it on this forum back in the summer. It was about pringles, and I think someone said hula hoops are the same, but I suspect that doritos aren’t hugely different.

I have a glass of lemon and water every morning, made from half a lemon. I was going to buy some PLJ when I am next in the UK but also find those little squirty lemons come in handy. To be honest, I’m not sure what it does for me but I used to have a glass of half water half juice at breakfast, so I guess it is saving me a sugar rush and a few calories.

Miss Ziggy, I managed to paint my toenails yesterday, my stomach no longer gets in the way.

Fairyface, congrats on surviving a meal with SiL, we were eating at friends last night and they do know about my diet and she did a very nice meal, 90% that I could eat, I just left off the potatoes and didn’t have the dessert.

    https://www.healthambition.com/many-benefits-of-lemon-water/
was one of many sites that lists the benefits

Another site, looking at the pros and cons of different diets had this to say as a disadvantage of The PLJ diet “consuming lemon juice daily can be a problem for people who are allergic to products containing citrus compounds”
Duur – as if someone who is allergic to citrus is going to go anywhere near a lemon juice diet!

OMG so many posts to read through & everyone writing so frankly about their experiences that is so inspiring & wonderful to read.
Carb-Addict I know being pear shaped has some health advantages but is a slightly odd shape to have with mismatched top & bottom sizes & the waists too big if they fit over my hips🙀 I have been trying on clothes today & can get more previously too tight clothes on now so must be losing more inches😀
You are all doing so well resisting temptations & getting back on or keeping on the straight & narrow⭐️⭐️⭐️😇
We are trying until Wednesday to keep strictly to 800 or even less calories to save some for going out to dinner on Wednesday allowing for a glass of wine & a small pudding, probably fruit salad but icecream would be a treat. I’m hoping not to sabotage ourselves too much before the end of eight weeks when my husband has another blood test & will see his GP for a medication review. I’m really accompanying my husband in this but also find low carb suits me & will be our future way of eating now with any carbs viewed as an occasional treat. I find it so amazing at my mental turn around when bread & pasta was normal eating & now feels the wrong food to eat. It’s almost as though we are all going through our own nutritional metamorphosis & emerging as revitalised fitter people! Hooray for MM starting us on this road.⭐️⭐️
