Hi all,
I did the original 5:2 when it hit our screens and did really well – I wasn’t focusing on weight-loss then, I was just enthralled by the health benefits. Then last year I started the BSD because I’m a TOFI and I could see my weight creeping up. I lost over a stone and got my BMI to 21 – but ….I have taken my eye off the ball and although I haven’t gained much weight, I can see how easily it will go back up if I continue the way I am.
So – first thing is to kick out the sugar – I’m not a serious addict but re-reading ‘The Sweet Poison’ makes me realise how even small amounts of sugar can really undermine my best efforts. I am also going to re-establish the 5:2 – in some ways, the benefits of IF are far more than just the weight-loss.
Part of my motivation this time is that my OH and I plan to retire to Spain next year and I want to have a long, healthy and happy retirement not bugged by creeping weight and related ill-health.
I guess I’m putting this down here to make a commitment and to re-focus myself.
Good luck to everyone.

Well said, this time we have is an investment in ourselves and our futures. I am doing the same, planning the way to my healthy future retirement.

Ok – so I take it back – I have gone 24 hours without sugar and all I can think about it eating something sweet!

Keep going, the cravings are bad but giving in to them will just prolong your attempt to give the sweet poison up!

Thank you Mixnmatch, I didn’t give in and I’m ok at the moment.
