Thanks SG, I shall be around this week. Now I’m in the right stone band, I have just 11 days left to try to push down into single digit pounds. It should be doable, but I have a lunch and a dinner out to factor in. I’m currently on a fast through to tomorrow evening, which should help🤞🏻. I’ll be weighing in tomorrow and am hopeful of being at least a pound down week.on week.

Anyway, really hope there will be lots of old and new ‘faces’ joining us this week. Being part if this group helps to keep us accountable and is a safe place to vent and seek advice when things get difficult. Please drop in with a progress report and tell us about you plans for the week ahead.

Thank you Sunshine and Sunny for getting us going this week. Hi Wendy,
I’m hoping for a good week. I’m having a back tooth extraction today 😫 so that will limit my eating a bit. I’ve made a huge pot of chicken soup to get me thru the next couple of days.
We’re into the start of Autumn here – and summer daylight saving ends on Sunday. I hope to make the most of the last few evenings of longer daylight with a bit of garden time.

Oh Merry, hope the tooth extraction isn’t dreadful. Be gentle with yourself and rest up.

I’m reporting in with a slightly disappointing scales result this morning, just half a pound down this week, so my hope of bring in single digit pounds by 7th April are looking really slim now. Still, sticking with it and doing what I can.

    Hi all,
I’m in for another week, aiming for alternate day fasting as described in The Obesity Code, so supper Sunday and supper last night. I have not had breakfast this morning, but will have a salad and some protein for lunch, and will have super tonight. I am feeling the loss in my belt, but still aiming for those summer clothes as my motivation.
    Have a good week everyone!

I’m back from holiday and have put on 5lbs. Started woe from yesterday, I was at work so had my breakfast at 12.20pm and evening meal at 7.15pm. I forgot about the carb flu so felt a bit spaced out during the morning. Down 2lbs this morning 😁
Fiance went to Dr’s yesterday and was told he is pre diabetic so he is going to join me with this woe, good thing I made him read MM 800 Fast book when I started so that he’d understand why I was eating this way. Apparently he explained to the nurse how and what I was doing. So he knows what to do and we can keep each other on the right track.

Hi everyone, glad you enjoyed your holiday Elle, sorry about your finance’s diagnosis. No worries, you can soon change that with your knowledge and his faith in you.

I am following the same journey as SunnyB. Trying to lose 7lbs in 7 weeks and failing dismally. Still optimistic with 2 weeks to go and 5lbs to lose. Hey ho, have a good week everyone.

Hello everyone I’m still here & keeping on going. I went to my first Escape pain exercise class at my local hospital this morning which seemed quite easy probably because of my previous balance classes. I hope I can do much better weight loss wise this week because I would love to get into the “just overweight” category so under 30 BMI & need to lose four pounds to do that. All my longer fasting last week didn’t do much weight wise but hopefully helped with in other ways but despite having lots of fluids I did become constipated 🙀 but all ok now & I’m eating more fibrous food.
Welcome back from your holiday Elle-Mae & sorry to hear about your fiancés diagnosis but this woe will certainly help him.
Good luck with your fasting RubyG & sorry to hear about your tooth extraction Merry & hope it goes well.
Thank you S-G for setting up this weeks thread.
I hope everyone has a good week!

    Hello!
Well I’m home and in my own wonderful bed …. nothing like your own bed!
No great gain just 3lbs which I’m sure I’ll get rid of this week. Must say that I won’t miss the ‘rustic bread’, the occasional pasta and the odd potato! I really don’t enjoy any of that stuff but when a bread basket is in front if you with olives and olive oil it’s so difficult to resist!
So, onwards and forward into another week. My goal is just to drop my holiday gain and then to make a ‘plan’.
Hope you all have a good week.

Merry, hope your tooth extraction wasn’t too grim and you are recovering well.
Ruby, sounds like you have things undercontrol and plans made going forward. Hooe you gave a good week.
Elle, welcome back and a 5lb gain is not so bad, especially as you have already binned 2lb of that. Sorry to hear about your fiance, but I’m sure you will soon have him on track with this WOE, which should pull him back.
Margaret, stick with it and the results will follow. It doesn’t always happen when we want it too, but it will happen.
V, well done on such a small gain. Bread dipped in good olive oil is something I find very hard to resist. I’m sure you’ll have those 3lb sorted in short order.

Thank you everyone for your good wishes. The tooth is out and a post installed for the upcoming implant cap. The worst part of it was that the surgeon was tetchy and impatient with his nurse/technician, with the surgeon firing off at her while all I could do was lie prone between them! 🤣 Meals of chicken soup today.
Our own beds are heaven aren’t they Verano! Glad you are snuggly back in yours.
Elle-Mae – you and your fiance’ will make a good team working together. You did well with your fasts RubyG! The summer clothes are beckoning. I like the sound of your exercise class Wendy – to ease pain. Is it movement exercises or weights etc?
SunnyB you are close to your goal. Koko!
Raining day here – it’s been pretty dry, so it’s good so see a few hours of drizzly rain. Tomorrow I have a lunch to go to and there will be wine, but hopefully a very carb friendly meal.

Checking in to say that yesterday I was 0.6lb down from Friday, and today I am 1.0lb up on yesterday! However, I am feeling leaner and lighter so will ignore the scales and carry on with my ADF plan – 2 meals yesterday (lunch and supper) with some milk kefir and flax as well, and will have supper again tonight. Tomorrow I will probably do 16:8 and just have lunch and supper again, as that seems to be working for me at the moment.

Hi all, hope you are all doing well. Today I am feeling more relaxed. Seem to have had so many anxious and stressful occasions recently what with doctors, specialists, blood tests etc. Today I had a rdv (rendez-vous) with a new chiropodist. Always worry, will he be okay, will he tell me my feet are a mess (when you have big worries little things go by the way-side), will he speak any English. Well, yes he was okay, done a lovely job, no issues (diabetic wise), says I should use cream more often, and no he didnt speak any English. It was like having a half hour French lesson, chatting about everything, so I will go back to him. Anyway, besides more blood tests on Friday morning I have no more medical appointments until June. Yeaaaa. Found a housesitter, finally hubby got the pool pump installed and working after a really difficult start so I think that is everything that have been giving me sleepless nights.

Merry, you just reminded me I need a dentist appt, not been for over a year now – due to all my other problems as stated above. I will leave it until we get back from our UK holiday for Easter.

Mini weight loss today, 0.3kgs – 2/3rds of a pound 🙂 since Monday. Every little bit etc.

We have lovely weather here and summer is truely on its way. Hubby is cutting the grass and I have been doing some Spring cleaning – kitchen cupboards.

    Have a lovely week everyone.

Thank you SunnyB & well done Merry for coping with your dental visit. It’s never easy going through an extraction.
My pain exercise clinic is called ESCAPE which stands Enabling Self-Management & Coping with Arthritic Pain using Exercise. It takes place in the hospital gym under the direction of two physios using stretchy bands for resistance exercises, an exercise machine seated & doing knee bends which really works the thighs, which I need, a recliner cycle, a wobble board & get up sit down reps from a chair. It’s a country wide NHS programme. It’s twice a week for six weeks.
Well done RubyG with your fasting plans. I’ve been feeling a bit under par & wobbly today & I’m not sure if it was going to play bowls on an empty stomach, which I usually do, but had to stop to sit down & then had a coffee & a chocolate brownie which is the worst thing I’ve eaten for weeks but really all that was available to eat something. I’ve had chicken salad for lunch😀 Keep on going everyone!

Your exercise class sounds interesting Margaret. I go on my exercise bike at home, do a very small amount of weight exercises and do a mixture pilates/yoga/stretchy band/physio that I have evolved over the years (my daughter is a physio). I also use ice packs and a tens unit for my sciatica. I didn’t do them apart from a very shortened version on holiday. After using my ice and doing all my exercises yesterday I didn’t have the pain in my hip whilst in bed last night which I have been suffering from during my holiday.

Gosh that sounds a lot of exercise Elle-Mae but lovely that you have your daughter to advise you. I’ve just come back from my second class & tried to work harder putting up the resistance on the bike. Unfortunately my exercise bike at home has low resistance even at the highest setting but I suppose using it again would still help tone up my thigh muscles. There was also a presentation today talking about the importance of aerobic as well as resistance exercise working with a band or weights. I have several Jane Fonda dvds that I find very good & I do her working with weights one called Prime Time Fit & Strong & I’m going to try her walking one mile one called Prime Time Walk Out 2 Low Impact Routines that involves marching, knee raises & side stepping that is more like the exercise I did at my balance classes. I find her humorous & knowledgeable & I think she is aged over seventy on theses dvds having had hip & knee surgery. I can’t twist my knees so can sadly no longer do dance routines that I used to enjoy & also went to Silver Swans ballet exercise classes that I had to give up. Oh well I think it’s important to try to keep moving as best we can👍😀

Well I’ve just had my annual T2 check-up.
I had my blood tests in early March after having had two trips away in the previous three months : one over Christmas and New Year and the other a cruise. So my averages for the three months were never going to be brilliant.
Up until the last year or so I’ve always stayed relatively low carb even on holiday. But since starting to travel again last August I’ve been very lax. Apart from ‘the ‘rustic bread’, the occasional pasta and the odd potato! ‘ I’ve even had desserts and lots of cheese and crackers.
So, the results are in and they aren’t really a pretty sight. My HbA1c is up to 41, just in the non-diabetic range, but it has gradually increase from 32 in March 2019. So it’s painfully obvious to me that I really do need to reduce my carbs again, not that I’ve been counting them in the last few years anyway!
So back to the drawing board and back to the counting app for me!
This way of eating really does work to control/reverse T2 but it really does have to become a way of life. The odd, very odd, higher carb meal probably doesn’t do too much harm but obviously slipping back to old habits will result in increased blood sugar for the majority of us.
We have a wedding at the weekend plus Sunday lunch out with friends! Maybe not the best time to show some restraint but I’ll just keep thinking ‘41’ every time I see high carb food!
Hope everyone is having a good week.

Hi all, nothing much to report, possibly another half a pound down.

    V. sorry you have (almost) slipped back into T2 but you have managed to catch it in time and you know exactly what to do. I love it when people say they have managed to get from pre into non diabetic by using the diet but hate having to tell them they will have to be careful for the rest of their lives. It is always lurking, waiting for the carbs to re-appear. I know you wont be too worried, maybe just a little disappointed. Big hugs.

Yes, a rude awakening for me. I knew, but I still pushed the boundaries. Anyway, now I have the proof! It will always be lurking.

    Take care of yourself.

I have just weighed & have lost 2 lbs in weight at the end of my eleventh week & have now in total lost 1stone 5.5 lbs. I had hoped by the end of March to have lost one & a half stone but the good news for me is my BMI is now 30 so I’m just creeping into the just overweight range. 😀
I am keeping going for another 12 weeks to try to lose two stone & to then see how I look & feel then. I now weigh twelve stone & one quarter pounds.

Bonjour, today it is wet and windy with intermittent sunshine – 14 degrees for the next couple of days. So not always sunshine and hot.

Logged all my food on MFP for today and even though I managed to keep calories down to 700 (plus allow for bits like milk in coffee) I still couldnt get my carbs under 40. 43 in fact with no breakfast, then I made a cauliflower base pizza with pepper, toms and mushrooms and tomato sauce and some cured ham etc. Boy do the carbs mount up when it is all veg but still lots of good stuff.

My weight is down another few ounces but would have to lose 4lbs in just under 2 weeks to reach my 7lb goal. Still determined, and although I said I was going to live life and go out more I am cancelling my Monday quiz night in favour of losing a bit more weight. Not sure if anyone noticed a couple of weeks ago but…. Hubby said he had a strange text from daughter – saying can you confirm you are heading home late afternoon on the Sunday. Arranging for a surprise 70th birthday party for mum with lots of friends from her past. He really should have read it to himself or stopped reading when he realised but he just didnt catch on at all. So now I have to act all surprised but also want to be at my best weight so in a way I am glad I know. I will not let on to daughter that I know as it would really spoil the surprise she wants me to have. Stooooopid husband. Hence the trying even harder to lose weight.

Have a good weekend everyone but keep on keeping on…

I am good thanks Margaret, been very full on at work this week because I am having to do 2 people’s work and had to take minutes at 2 meetings on Thursday. 3 1/2 lbs of holiday gain gone and Fiance has lost 4 lbs 😁 probably I will be back at target weight and then it will be Easter lol. Margaret I lost 2 stone and it took me from June to October.

Thank you Margaret and Elle – I am sure it will be wonderful and there might be people I haven’t seen for 50 years or more. I have a cousin I haven’t seen since I was 15.

Stuck with the plan and down another 2/3rds of a pound so 3.5 in total – still 3.5 to go. I do know that I will be less on Tuesday rather than the usual small increase due to giving in to a few glasses of wine so hopefully it will be worth it. It seems okay to have a small gain but it really puts you on the back foot and then trying to catch up again. I really should learn.

Been a bit cold and windy here for the last few days and hoping for a bit better so I can get out in the garden tomorrow and mark out the patch I want the ‘gardener/handyman’ to dig over for me. I picked this young man for odd jobs and he has been good so far, hubby wanted an English gardener (because of the language problem) who he either cant get in touch with or he doesnt turn up when he promises. I know who I prefer and think hubby is coming to the same conclusion.
Enjoy your Sunday and see you all next week.

Monday 3rd April & after a more relaxed eating weekend I’m starting my own personal 12 week challenge & this is week one to keep the momentum going from the previous 12 weeks. I’m aiming to lose at least one pound plus each week & know there will be eating temptation with chocolate at Easter, family gatherings & staying in hotels with limited low carb fresh food choices.
Frustrating though it will be I know I will gain weight then but will try to immediately remedy that by losing that gain as quickly as possible. My physio confirms there is no cure for osteoarthritis only the self help of keeping active & strengthening the leg muscles to support the knees & hips & I want to help myself as much as possible. I now have a BMI of 30 so classed now as overweight rather than obese which is encouraging for me!

Another Monday morning. Did 30 mins exercise. I can feel a difference in my legs and arms and will measure later. Weight not changed over the weekend but that is better that my usual upward blip due to being too relaxed. So feel sure I will continue on a downward path over the week. Weigh in tomorrow.

Keep going Wendy1947, I am personally still on my 8 weeks with just 1.5 weeks to go. I am sure you can relax a bit over Easter but just be mindful.

Starting to look forward to getting out in the garden. Although it is up to 18 degrees tomorrow it is minus 1 during the night, so glad I havent planted anything yet. Cleaner and gardener coming tomorrow so I am just clearing the decks, making it easier to get to things. Still think I could do it all myself but it was nice to have the whole house clean in one morning instead of a bit at a time. I have had very little to do since so that is a bonus.

Have a good week and see you all over on the new thread tomorrow.

Hi everyone ! Thanks SG and Sunny for keeping the thread going 🙂 It was indeed a busy week but lovely to see my son and his partner , plus two of their friends, one of whom I had never met . We really enjoyed having young uns in the house .We were out and about a lot as we had some lovely bright days and they also spent a lot of time playing boules out on the drive and drinking lots of interesting cocktails !
I will be honest and say that I found it very difficult to totally focus on my low carb program and fasting was of course impossible , but it’s ok , it was a special time .I don’t know if it happens to any of you but cooking actually seems to make me lose my appetite as when I sit down to eat I don’t fancy much ? It was easy enough to pass over any carbs like potatoes, bread etc but desserts were consumed .

It’s still the case that cooking tasty food and delicious desserts is a way of giving pleasure and showing love.

Well done everyone .However insubstantial your ‘losses’ appear, it all counts and as long as you don’t completely lose the plot then you can reverse any damage before it becomes a struggle .

Anyway we are now in April and we remain committed ! I am about to set up the new thread !
