This thread hardly needs any introduction now as it lives on in the same spirit, to support and encourage anyone who prefers to have a short term weekly goal to run alongside the longer monthly thread. We are here to help if you have any queries as you start out, or just to keep you motivated . I started in September 2018 which I saw as a time of renewal so if you too feel it’s time to make some changes and improve your health, come and join us.You will be made very welcome !

Wendy thank you for setting up yet another ‘1 week at a time ‘ thread!
So many people find them so helpful. I’m so glad to be able to get back on track with you too this week.
I can’t promise to post everyday but I definitely will read all the posts and help when I can.
I started a ‘proper’ Keto plan today, for the first time, but even though I no longer think low fat is the way to go, my goodness , I’m finding all this ‘fat’ hard to get my head around! In saying that tonight I made Thai cod which was delicious and I already realise that I’ve been eating too many vegetables!
So on to day 2 and we will see.
I hope everyone has a good week and goals are met with gusto!

Happy Anniversary Wendy. I have just read your post on last weeks thread. You really are an inspiration to us all. I thought you had been doing this WOE for longer than one year. You have achieved so much. I loved reading all of your post and hope eventually, like you, I too can develop the right mindset. I know it’s crucial. I really do admire and respect you and am so grateful for your gentle nagging. I will go back to that post regularly when I’m struggling. Thank you

Hello all, I can’t believe it’s another week already.

Wendleg, thank you for setting up this thread again. And thank you for the inspirational post you put on last week’s thread to mark your one-year anniversary of this WOE. It really was special. Thank you too for all the support you’ve offered me since I stumbled on here, it has made the most enormous difference to my ability to stick with this, especially in those times when nothing seemed to be moving in the right direction. Huge hugs, hon.

Not much to report from me, I’m currently doing an Egg Fast and concentrating on drinking heaps of water. Fingers crossed that the EF does its magic for me. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t – it’s an example of Kafin’s unicorn science 😊

Verano, isn’t all the fat a treat? 😊 Cream in coffee, utter bliss!

Babybumblebee, I read your post on last week’s thread but am replying here, so now you have to come join us here too 😊 Please don’t be disheartened that it’s taking you longer than you’d hoped to discard. You’ve done amazingly well so far, you really have. As I say to anyone who’ll listen, just sticking with this WOE is a triumph, and you’ve discarded a lot too!! I have more to shed than you do, and there are times when I feel like I’m sandpapering it off, it just *won’t go*. I understand that it feels unfair, it should go more easily when there’s so much of it, LOL But everyone’s body is different, some of us are just here for the long haul 😊 Like others have said, comparing ourselves isn’t helpful – I can’t be taller, or shorter, and I can’t change the way my body hangs onto fat. Reach out to chat here when it gets tough, I’ve found some hugely supportive and encouraging people here (you know who you are 😊 ) And I really hope someone can suggest something to help with the rash, that must be so difficult. JGwen knows a huge amount about this WOE, she might have some suggestions <crosses fingers>

Scottishgal and Amz, good luck for this week!

    Cheers, Elky

    hello all
sincere apologies for the long silence…
in addition to mad work deadlines, I’ve had a friend staying this past week who tends to be a little needy time -wise (though it was still lovely to catch up) AND with all the mad computer work, I’ve given myself a strain injury on one thumb and forearm, so typing hurts!!!

anyhow despite being slack on reporting both here and in MFP and a few visitor lapses (mostly wine as usual) I’m still heading in the right direction food wise and clothes are still getting looser (one pair of trousers I’m only a few cm away from being just right for my travels in just over 3 weeks (fingers and toes crossed!)-and a new linen shirt in a smaller size 🙂

Wendy, I’m another who though your anniversary piece was a delight to read-thank you so much

Verano-I did two weeks on “true” keto at the beginning of this round and also found that much fat really difficult (esp as a vegetarian/pescatarian, I don’t really do animal fats so it was WAY to heavy on dairy far me-and I seem to lose the weight just as well on just the lower calories….and still get to eat my beloved veg and legumes!)

when I can type more easily I’ll post a recipe for a delicious Spanish Seafood Soup that I made last night (leftovers for today!!)

have a great week all!! (and the SUN is shining…..in fact for the first time in months I have nothing woollen on…and bare feet!)

It is heartening to see so many regulars signing up again for the week/month threads, and also to see newbies and “returners”. It really is so helpful to compare notes and to have the mutual support. Although I know that it is not the be all and end all, the scales this morning did show a slight shift downwards; it is motivating after being stuck for the last few weeks. But I’m also looking at sporran (still there…) and hope for changes there – in fact that is more important than numbers on the scales. This morning does seem more autumnal; so my thoughts are already turning to stodge avoidance strategy for the coming colder/darker months. I must look at the soups thread on here; I recall the roasted broccoli/cheddar recipe was particularly delicious (tho with cheese obvs, so will avoid that this month…). I noticed that on my post on the September thread, I picked myself up on “trying” to avoid cheese, but left in the “trying” to get to bed early. It reminded me of Duckie’s posts (hope all well Duckie!) about neuro-linguistics, and how we subconsciously frame our thoughts. I am very much mistress of my own destiny in terms of bedtime, so there should be no “”trying” about it. Best wishes to all!

Good morning. Elky I’m really finding the ‘idea’ of so much fat difficult. I’m sure I can force myself to add cream to my coffee though!
EC I can understand how difficult it must have been. I know that I’ll miss vegetables but I’ve not set myself any real timescale for Keto so I’ll just play it by ear I think. When you post your soup recipe can you post it in ‘Soups for winter, summer, for all seasons’ please, especially as winter is on the horizon and we’ll all be looking for soups again!

@verano happy to help with your keto plans too as I’ve been following keto for a while now. I must say though that I’m very happy with all the fat as I’m a butter girl, always been 🤣
How many carbs were you having per day previously? I’m thinking the shift must not be that wide?
Also we are transitioning away from winter here and I have lots of keto winter recipes. My favs were cauliflower Mac and cheese and also baked pumpkin. 🤤🤤🤤
I also shared a green cabbage recipe that works well with lots of cream and bacon.

I’m still avidly reading the main topics daily but not Im very good at regular posting.
Since doing three rounds of the egg fast, and using the breathalyser regularly, I too am considering trying the Keto diet.
Could anyone please help me with some questions?
Do you follow any particular Keto diet?
Do you count calories or just carbs?
Do you still do IF ?
Do you incorporate a fat fast?
Is your weight loss more than on the BSD?
Where do you find the best recipes?
    Hope you can help.

    I’ll give it a go! 😊

Do you follow any particular Keto diet? No particular diet, just keeping my macros keto, ie under 20gr carbs, 65g proteins and the rest is fat.
Do you count calories or just carbs? I only count proteins. I know my carbs by now so don’t need to count. Don’t count calories anymore, just eat to satiety.
Do you still do IF ? I mainly do 16:8 and also extended fasts. After an extended fasts I might have 3 meals a day so won’t do 16:8 some days.
Do you incorporate a fat fast? I did one when I transtioned from a higher carb period. Don’t plan on doing it again as I don’t plan on having any other higher carbs period.
Is your weight loss more than on the BSD? I wasn’t on the BSD but on the fast 800 and yes it’s way quicker but I believe it’s the extended fasting that works for me, although I would never be able to do EF if i wasn’t on a keto diet to start with.
Where do you find the best recipes? Diet doctor, reddit ketorecipes and chatting with my chef friends 😅

Hi Louise thanks for your offer of help. I have to admit to not weighing, counting or logging for quite a long time, in fact I’ve only been staying away from refined carbs. So really, eating fewer than 20g of carbs will be a big change for me. In fact I very rarely ate less than 30g a day, and that was on a good day! We will see how this plan works.
Busybee I’m not really in a position to answer most of your questions but I have started a 5 week Keto plan on dietdoctor mainly to guide me through the early days. The plan is based on 7g of carbs, or less, at each meal. It seems quite flexible with lots of recipe choices. They do a one month free trial. I’ve been eating low carb for so long now that I just need a total change and the Keto recipes are encouraging me to cook again, and give me back some enthusiasm for ‘healthy’ food.

Here I am checking in. I know many of you are not scale-centric, but I like daily weigh-ins so this morning’s was 184.4
My goal for the week is to stay on BSD and have at least thirty minutes of activity each day.
My goal for September is to get as close as I can to the 160s and start incorporating my Monday, Wednesday, Saturday fasts as I had done previously.
I have a side goal of reading and actively posting here as well so I’ll work towards that too.

Got off to a good start this week. Lowest my weight has been for years and all time low since i started this WOE and went shopping today and tried on, liked and bought a selection of clothes in a UK size 14, US 10! Gave me such a boost. I am just 1lb away from officially not being overweight although I do want to lose a few more than that. I don’t think this would have happened without the BSD. I am skipping breakfast most days and fasting between supper and lunch and find that this works for me.
Got into a routine and generally have greek yoghurt and berries for lunch because I really enjoy it. Is it ok to have the same thing regularly or for the sake of discarding, should I shake it up a bit.
Target for this week is to lose that 1lb and preferably at least one of his friends too.

Hello everyone – hope it’s okay to come back to the weekly thread for a couple of weeks. Haven’t been around the thread for a few weeks, but I need to refocus and more determinedly pursue my aim of getting back to target weight or below, before my trip to India in 16 days and thought this would be a good thread to help me with that need.

Beginning the week half a pound up on this time last week, so need to get rid of 3lb (and if I can, a little more too) before 19th Sept. Broadly, my aim is to narrow my daily eating ‘window’ to 14.00 to 20.00 daily and at some point wedge in an egg fast too, but that will need to wait until next week I think, so for this week I will be keeping very low carb as far as possible and choosing BSD friendly options when socialising this weekend.

Maisiebeth – if it’s easy and you’re happy to have the same thing for lunch daily and it’s working for you, I can’t see any reason you need change things.

Have a good week everyone …

Thanks for all your lovely comments about my anniversary 
Hi Scottishgal ! I know you like to be nagged a bit ..I am sure you will get back to a healthy routine now ( of course you will, won’t you Scottish gal !!)
Elky, your posts are always a delight and even when you go through a bumpy patch you always bounce back . Good luck with the egg fast !
Good to see you as always Amz and you know we are rooting for you. You are doing your best for your daughter too. Hopefullly she will accept the changes. I will be watching over you..always.
Hope DK has a good time in Amsterdam.Oooh..talk of treats always makes me feel a bit uneasy and I hope they don’t involve too much carbs and sugar in David’s case as he is doing so well with his blood glucose results.
Good to see you back with us again EC ! You sound so busy ! Sorry about the strain injury .I have just gone back to work but it’s a slow start .The routine will kick in next week. Then my routine of OMAD on 3 working days will be re-established. All the best as you approach your upcoming break ! Lovely weather to look forward to, also !
Hi 6T ! That blooming sporran ! I Trust the process…you will be soon be mistress of that wretched hindrance too !!
Great results Maisiebeth ! I remember it took ages before anyone really noticed my shrinking size and then all of sudden I seemed smaller and had to sort my wardrobe…and it is a lovely boost. Well done you ! It’s good that you have found a strategy that works for you.I don’t do breakfast either which is an easy way to extend that fasting window. Carry on with your Greek yoghurt and berries if you enjoy it and you are getting results.I sometimes sprinkle a few cacao nibs and/or chia seeds too.
Let us know how you get onwith your new keto strategy, V. I am never strict keto as I don’t do animal fats either but my focus is on low carb, for sure. I have no trouble adding butter, olive oil, avocados etc as much as I can but still have to be careful not to overdo the dairy and nuts. I can’t do steaks and bacon xx
A shout out to Coriander, Cheggars,Sim14K, Amethyst. Please tell us how you are doing
Merry , come and see us on here !
Bikeyguy ! Don’ think your absence has gone unnoticed !!!!!!

Hi Sunny – that’s so exciting about your trip to India! I was there for quite a while way back in 2000. I actually came back very thin as I got giardia and amoebic dysentery! I’m sure you know all the rules about food so take care 👩‍⚕️! I’m sure you can hit your goal. May I ask where you’re going in India? I was a backpacker so kind of did the whole country other than Kashmir which was too dangerous at the time.
Elky, I love your analogy of “sandpapering it off” – sometimes, it really feels that way! And you and I both have that same theory of waiting it out a little to see if the new loss will stick! 🦄🦄
EC – where are you going on your travels? That Spanish seafood soup recipe sounds divine! I’m not ready for soups yet as it’s stinking hot still and won’t really cool down until November but good to have in my back pocket! I went shopping for my niece’s birthday the other day and even here in LA, all the summer stuff is gone and coast and sweaters are in, which seems insane in 31 plus degree weather!
Hi 6T! Your sporran comments always crack me up 😁
Verano, will be following along with interest to see how the keto change is working for you. I’m glad to see you back and posting regularly 😊
Hi Amz, good to see you back and posting too! Great weekly goals you have set for yourself.
Maisiebeth – that is a huge boost!
Sounds like a nice positive start for many xx

Hi everyone and great to see the weekly thread thriving❤️❤️ Wendy as always thank you for setting us up again. I have been reading Dr Bosworth and I am liking her no nonsense, straight talking! She reminds of our Wendy 😂❤️. I am also seeing that BSD is very similar to keto. The only real difference is that they do use a lot more fake sugar?!?! But it is good that I can use their recipes for sweet stuff for my OH🤪. He really does have a sweet tooth. I have replaced his sweetener and sugar for coconut sugar. It is all natural so when they say sweetener I will use that. I won’t be eating it so it doesn’t matter😂

I jumped on the scales today and I am back down to 14-1 which is my pre holiday weight! Phew I have still got it😂😂.

So great seeing some discards no matter how big or small❤️❤️ We are all heading in the right direction and helping out health so it is all good.

I have bought some magnesium chloride salts as I don’t like taking supplements, so I will be have two baths a week for 40mins with 6 cup measures of them in the water so I can get my levels up by absorbing them through my skin. Now I don’t know if it works and it really is an experiment😂. It is from an internal medicine doctor so hopefully it is not 🦄 science. We shall see.

Lovely to see you all and hope you have all had an awesome day.🥰 6T lovely to see you posting too.

    See you all tomorrow, Birdy🦜💞

    Morning all!

I haven’t had time to catch up full on last week’s thread, but it’s great to see Amz back and welcome to any new folk!

Apologies for the long post – some mental housekeeping to do in order to get back on the wagon properly, so I like to write it down to help organise myself! Feel free to ignore and move on if you don’t have time or coffee!

Well, today was WI 17, with two weeks since my last WI. I’ve officially gained 3.2lb and that’s absolutely brill, so I have no issue with it at all!

Of the two weeks since my last WI, the first four days were my usual low carb / fasting regime, then I had four days of low carb food but with lots of alcohol, then four days of higher carb with even more alcohol, then back onto low carb for lunch & dinner on Sunday and back into my usual fasting from Sunday dinner time, which I will break at lunch today. Didn’t particularly plan it that way – for the week I was actually away, I had decided to stick to 16/8 as much as possible, keep low carb as much as possible, have a drink as I felt like it and go with the carbs if I wanted to. I’ve found it a really interesting experience and am so glad I didn’t try to stay strict with low carb or fasting as I have learnt a lot from this.

When I weighed myself on Sunday morning, just to see where I was before official WI today, I’d gained 10lbs, or thereabouts – it certainly felt like I was bloated and retaining fluid. That started to ease about 30 hours into this fast and I think another pound or two of the remaining 3.2lb is probably fluid as well. I’m hoping next week to have lost that 3.2lb and be back where I was before my hol. The reason I found it particularly interesting was this; the results on holidays are always the same for me – I gain a large amount of weight (not unusual to be over a stone gained in a two week holiday, even pre low-carb), feel lethargic and crap and pretty angry and down by the end of the holiday. It was the same this time – BUT, this time I was observing it instead of being invested in it. I knew what was happening, why it was happening and understood it was due to; too much food, far too much alcohol, too many carbs and not taking my CBD oil for a week. I was still anxious about whether my new way of eating could resolve this on return, but wanted to trust in the process; sure enough, after being back on low carb, fasting and CBD oil for the couple of days I have been, most weight is gone, I have lost most of the bloated feeling, I feel calm, relaxed and in control again. This has been a real revelation – not only can I ‘observe’ and understand the impact of lifestyle changes on holiday, instead of being controlled by them, I now have the tools to resolve them swiftly as and when I choose. Game changer.

As for the holiday itself, well I had that surfing lesson I booked ages ago! Now, bear in mind I’m just getting back into some of my size 18 trousers and my top half is probably 18/20. The biggest size wetsuit available was a size 14. Well, I thought, that’s not going to stop me. Now, it’s 25 years (minimum) since I was last in a wetsuit. And that was a relatively thin neoprene for sailing. Let me tell you, thick neoprene, at least two sizes too small, already wet so it sticks to you, and a zip at the back you can’t reach since you can’t bend your arms properly once you’re in it, makes for an interesting dressing experience. I accosted some poor woman in the changing rooms to zip me into it (dear god, flashbacks to getting in my corset on my wedding day after a week of Mexican food and booze) and adopted the Barbara Windsor ‘Carry on Camping’ pose of chest out, arms raised and shoulders back to allow her to get the zip up and promptly discovered that the neck was so tight I was at risk of passing out. To add insult to injury, the boots didn’t have zips (why? mine did and that was 25 years ago!) and getting my suit legs rolled up and the boots on over my cankles, then rolling the suit legs down again, meant I felt like I’d competed in WWE Wrestlemania before I even got to the training room. The lesson itself confirmed my deepest held suspicions – I have no core strength, no balance and no co-ordination! It was good fun, but I didn’t last the whole lesson – I was in serious danger of running over some of the other folks in the class as I couldn’t control my board and the teacher didn’t seem interested in helping someone with no natural ability, so I went and sat on the side to watch my 7 year old in his lesson. I never got as far as kneeling or standing, but would happily try it again in a quieter class where there was more room (or ideally at the beach) – I did go back in the water a couple of days later to help my 7 year old in his next lesson and that was good fun too as I do love being in the water and have missed it as I don’t get much chance. Having said that, a few photos of me soaking wet and stuffed into a size 14 wetsuit certainly put pay to any idea that I’m looking slimmer!

Anyway, enough waffle. I’m setting myself a target of getting under 15st by my WI on 1 October – that’s four weeks to lose just over 10 pounds; tough, but maybe doable. I need to try and reduce protein and increase veg as I think I’ve been eating too much protein (mostly in the form of cheese – mmmmmm, cheese).

Hope everyone has a good week – I’ll try to keep up with posts once the kids are back in school!

Blood in the range 4.3 to 4.7
    6 lbs off.
Next week will be 6:1 as I have 4 days in Amsterdam.
I will stay off the carbs as best I can although moderate amounts of alcohol will be consumed
I will do TRE even if it is not quite 12 hours
No matter how I exit the holiday I am sure it will be in a much better position than if I had not had such a good week leading up to it. I would also have overindulged much more when away.

    Hi All
Have just signed up to this forum, and enjoying reading your supportive and informative posts. I started this way of eating 5 days ago, and am feeling my way.

I think I am suffering from ‘carb flu’, in that I have at times felt weak, tired and headachy, and the last few days my mood has been unusually low. Some relatively minor ‘life events’ might have contributed to the latter, but my reaction is more than it would normally be. Feeling better today, so onwards and upwards, hopefully (just not upwards in the weight department!).

Weighing almost daily. The weight jumps around a bit, but overall would say I’ve lost about a kilo.

Look forward to chatting with some of you.

    Hi KimSue,
Carb flu is caused by low electrolytes. – When we eat a carb high diet our bodies store water, when we go low carb our bodies release that stored water but the kidneys also release electrolytes with the water. – You need to increase your salt intake to replace the electrolytes.

Hi Kinsue JGwen has hit the nail on the head, just dip your dampened finger in some really good sea salt like maldon or the pink Himalayan salt, if that does not appeal swap out one of your straight waters for a litre of San Pellegrino sparkling water as that has sodium 🧂 in it. It has helped me keep my levels up. Welcome to the forum and I wish you all the luck on this Way Of Eating. Just shout out if you need anything, as no question is a silly one and there will always be someone here 24hrs to help. Hi 6T, your post about your sporran reminded me to say that I had a shock the other day. I have got used to the strange experience of being like a sculptor when it comes to my arms and legs, I can see outline of the shape to come underneath the squidgy bits. Thats now happening with my spare tyre when I stand side on to the mirror. – Still lots of spare tyre to work on, but for the first time in my life I can see the top half of the line (running from just under bust to just above hips at present) which will be the position of my silhouette at the end of this journey.

    Hi everyone
I got a bit distracted on the keto thread but I would never abandon you so here I am !
I love seeing Birdy getting really excited and doing her dizzy puppy impression ! Hope you enjoyed your soak in the magnesium bath Birdy…not sure I would want to visit while you are cooking bone broth though 😉
Your holiday gain/discard/ revelation was really interesting Beegirl and you really seem to have come to a clear understanding of the process, enabling you to quickly get back in control. All the very best with your target. We will be cheering you on !
OH 6T , your sporran really is the bane of your life ;-). Trying to imagine what it looks like from different viewpoints !! Well done on your emerging sihouette too, JGwen !
Looking forward to your post Amsterdam update, David ! Bet you will be walking loads there too !
Where has Bikeyguy disappeared to ??
Welcome KimSue ! Hope the carb flu eases. All the very best to you
Amz are you Ok ? How is your daughter responding ?
Getting back into work routine here and not finding it that easy with very early starts again. It takes me a week or two to adapt .
Hope you all find time to check in. It’ s getting a bit late so I had better sign off but I will check the forum in my lunch hour tomorrow and would love to know how everyone is getting on xxx

Hi All, just popping by to catch up with what everyone is up to.

BeeGirl, congratulations on having managed the holiday so well and maintaining such a great mental approach, that’s a triumph! Also thank you for such a brilliant account of your wet suit adventures, I roared with laughter.

6T I am always pleased to read your regular sporran updates, that description makes me smile every time 😊 But I’m very glad it’s going in the right direction for you, even if way more slowly than you like.

JGwen, that’s great news about your emerging silhouette, that riding jacket must be getting a whisker closer <crosses fingers>

Amz, there’s a separate thread on the Egg Fast that Kafin set up, it explains the process in a detail. But, essentially, you just eat eggs and fat and bit of optional cheese. In the intro to the other thread Kafin quoted “It’s a (short term) diet that consists of primarily eggs, cheese, and butter. For each egg you eat, you should eat a corresponding Tbsp of pure fat in the form of butter, olive oil, or coconut oil. You can also eat a corresponding Tbsp of full fat cheese per egg. Doing this will result in an extremely low carb, high fat, moderate protein intake that will kickstart your body into fat burning mode.”

A few of us have done an Egg Fast, some of us more than once, you can read about our ongoing adventures with them on the other thread. There are some recipes there too. Lots of people seem to get heartily sick of eggs and find they feel physically unwell after a few days, but Kafin and I are clearly odd because we’ve done Egg Fasts for up to a week and still been happy to eat yet more eggs 😊

    KimSue, welcome aboard!!

Wendy, I think Bikeyguy said he was going to check in once a week, not more regularly. So I’m sure he’s still around and ready to dutifully report back in on his nominated day. (Bikeyguy, don’t make a fibber of me!)

David, hope you have a wonderful break in Amsterdam.

Hello to everyone else too, hope all is going well for you.

    Cheers, Elky

Beegirl, I missed your hilarious post as I got kicked out of the thread – wondered why it seemed so quiet! I absolutely admire you for giving it a go but wiggling into the wetsuit sounds like a bloody nightmare! I’ve currently got a rotator cuff problem as a result of trying to take off a sports bra so I understand the perils of these things! And everyone wants to know what sport I was playing to get such an injury!! I wasn’t even wearing it for a sport-related activity, it was more about available laundry!!
Amz, let us know if you’re interested in doing an Egg Fast, I was thinking of maybe starting one next week and it’s always more doable with someone else. Although as Elky said, she and I don’t get sick of eggs!
Welcome KimSue and hi everyone else!

Hi everyone. BeeGirl what a fantastic post to wake up to and it’s certainly put a smile on my face for the day. Good luck with your target this month.
Sorry not to be the best of posters at the moment but I have become engrossed in ‘keto’ and that’s taking up lots of my ‘thinking time’. I have just posted some links to low carb/ keto conferences on the Serious September thread which may be of interest.
Hope the week is going well so far.

    hello all
As did everyone, BeeGirl I loved your honest and hilarious description of your surfing experience….wet suits are a nightmare even when you’re slim (I have been as my younger self, as well as watched my slender boys wriggle painstakingly into them), so I totally understood your melodrama! ) It also poignantly reminded me of Canadaliz whose post originally encouraged me to join the forums and ultimately left to deal with some v serious health issues…I still miss her effervescent humanity! She and also Nonna Mary from that forum frequently had the group in stitches while I mostly reflected on my under-the-mountain existence (including the wildlife). I hope and wish they’re both OK and would love be interjected by those “voices” again! (who also reminded us all of the dangerous Al co Hol!)

Three weeks today til we leave for Canada and I’m feeling mixed as to massive goals not achieved but probably more realistic ones that have been….so on reflection pretty OK (there’s another January deadline-aim so all good!!)-long haul!

In regard to keto/BSL posts…on the short two weeks I did on serious keto my BGLs (on fingerprick) went as low as 3.5 when ketones were up to over 2 (again on finger prick)….but still unsure as to whether I was burning body fat or consumed fat…..maybe I’ll do another stint after this weekend’s visitors leave….

So anyhooo……here’s to three weeks as on track if I can manage at the same time as getting ahead with work deadlines before we go (even though there’ll be some work while I’m away so nothing’s finite)…..on a positive….the sweet peas are sprouting and the plum blossom and magnolia stellata are all out!!….and while the sun’s higher there’s still a little mountain snow visible!!

Glad my wetsuit adventures amused folks – it was certainly amusing at the time!

Turns out I’d been flagged as a spammer by overenthused anit-spam software or something, so my morning post was in spammer’s prison – fortunately, the helpful techies very kindly sorted things out and got my post allowed parole (which now confusingly shows before my test posts 😁).

Broke my mid-week fast at lunch today and was glad to – I’ve been soooo cold when fasting this week; Monday and Wednesday I got home from work and sat huddled in a dressing gown with a hot water bottle and a mug of coffee! I even had to soak in the bath for an hour or so this morning before lunch to thaw out! I know it’s down to re-starting fasting after my holiday, so it’ll get better in a week or so, but I’m betting fasting through the winter is going to be more of a challenge than fasting through the summer has been!

Kids are back in school now so I’m enjoying a day of relaxation, before getting back to more practical stuff on my days off next week – the house looks like a bomb has hit it and the allotment is like the Amazon jungle, so at least I can get some exercise sorting that out! I also have studying to do – I’ve got two bee related exams in November and I’ve started to learn Spanish for our holiday to Mexico next year, which I’m really enjoying. I’m so excited to be going back to Mexico, even though it’s nearly a year away – we went three times, but the last time was when we got married nearly 12 years ago, so I can’t wait to show the kids the country where we got married (they don’t know we’re going as yet) and my parents are coming too, which is a bonus. Lots to keep me busy and the better I eat and the more weight I lose, the more energy I will have to do it all.

….and thinking about Mexico has just reminded me it’s my wedding anniversary in less than two weeks – blimey, nearly forgot that! Best plan something while I remember!

I’m now sooo thirsty after my saag paneer – where’s my soda water….!

    Good evening all

Beegirl I missed that post and I will be looking for it later. You always amaze me with the amount you have going on and all the cool hobbies you have and you still get time to make us laugh and break our smiles on our faces. Thank you❤️ You are a lovely lady and I am glad you found our forum.

EC that is interesting about you BGL in the book I am reading she says the only way we can survive with really LBS is if we are in ketosis. The way I understand it ketones in our pee is the ones we don’t need, breath is waste and the blood is actually the ketones floating through our system. If you are getting any reading it will be from the ketones not the fat you are eating, I am sure that would be a whole new machine and blood test. But I love those numbers. I am waiting to hit those. Thank you for sharing❤️ As of day one my ketones to BGL are on the right track as they were 30 today and they to be between 30 and 60 for the rapid weight discard. So here’s to day two being more of the same. I am 25hrs into my fast. I will resume eating tomorrow when I get up from my post night shift sleep.

How is everyone else? Wendy, Kazz, Elky? To name but a few💖 6T how are you and your ever decreasing sporran? You guys are all amazing and I hope you all have a great night. Off to work now😭😭. See you all tomorrow💞🦜 Birdy

Hi Birdy, 6T and sporran are fine, thank you….though the forum seems really a bit more complicated now, with keto on top of low carb, and I think there are maybe more people posting who are doing extended fasting, egg fasts and/or a combination of pee sticks/blood tests and breathalysers. It seems much more complex than when I first joined in January this year! My head is in a bit of a spin. Low carb I got, and it has worked (if now stalling..). Now I just feel a bit confused and don’t think I can keep up with the science! I am finding it a bit off-putting if truth be told…

    Hi 6T
I did wonder if that would happen…that things would become confusing with all the discussion outside the Fast 800 and BSD. I was just writing my reply which begins….

Hi everyone ! I hope I can keep you all motivated as lots of people are branching off and following the keto thread ! I think it is a natural transition. We are all concentrating on low carb and that leads us into understanding how our bodies transition to fat burning , getting in to ketosis etc. It is fascinating, V and the health benefits are becoming apparent as more and more research emerges.
However if anyone is a bit daunted by the very low carb requirements needed then don’t worry ! Start off gently by cutting out the nasty white and processed stuff and focus on controlling the cravings. It doesn’t mean going ‘hard core’ keto immediately if at all !!

Don’t worry 6T . You are very much like me in that you ‘got’ the low carb …and your results speak for themselves . I have found my discard sometimes slows down too which is why I try different strategies ( some fasting , the occasional egg fast etc) but you should just do what feels right for you.

Elky ..I remember Bikeyguy saying he was going to check in once a Week…but aren’t we due a report ?
Beegirl you are very committed, love it ! I like your language learning objective. I am going to learn Italian when I stop work. Apparently it’s a very good way to keep the brain stimulated. Bee exams too ! Brilliant !
EC I bet Mount Wellington is looking splendid ! You really do live in a beautiful place.
Lots of interesting travel plans too .
Kafin, thanks for helping Amz out with the egg fast explanation. Let us know if you decide to give it a go, Amz.
Don’t forget to check in with us , folks !!!
    xx

    Hi All

Just popping in to say hello.

6T, please don’t be put off by all the weird and wonderful science, just ignore the bits that aren’t relevant to you. Clearly low carb is working a treat in the sporran reduction campaign, if not quite as quickly as you’d like, so stick with that. I think Verano’s idea of pulling the keto stuff off into a separate thread is a good approach, so people who aren’t into it can just ignore it.

EC, how do you keep the wildlife out of your sweet peas?? I had to give them up as a bad joke since I drew the line at caging flowers!

Birdy, I’m still here, don’t worry—you know me, just plugging slowly away 😊

    Cheers, Elky

I’ll continue to post in here although I am interested in keto and all the science stuff. Especially since science is what got me here and the dispelling of the “facts” we had all been indoctrinated with! Agree it can be a bit confusing 6T but I like that this thread is just dedicated to keeping in touch with everyone and continuing on the path that each of us have chosen.
Beegirl, where in Mexico are you going? I went to Mexico City and Tulum last year and loved the friendliness of the people. Plus, it’s really just a short hop from LA to get there.

    Hi all!
Lovely Friday morning here, and looking back on the last 4-5 days I have been keeping mindful and pretty on track with my 800 – except for last night! A hiccup in my week – but it’s done and past, and today is a new day and I’m back on track!
Delightful reading about bees and Spring gardens. Thank you for the stories!
KOKO as we power towards to end of this week.🌞🌞

Oh Amz, I’m so sorry to hear that. What can we do? I don’t know how old your daughter is but would going to a different type of exercise class together make it more fun? Ballet, dance? I really struggled with my mum making me do exercise, I’m not suggesting you’re doing that but maybe help her get her food right and then ease into exercise? Sorry if these aren’t helpful, I wish you had more support xxx
