Hi, after a whirlwind of change in the last 6 weeks, it’s time too accept the past is over. I am a type 2 diabetic with feet ulcers lasting for 14 months. I’m 37 years of age and my overweight condition has cost me my wife, my home, my dog, my job and now I live 45 miles away from my friends. Living back in my Mums house my brother threw me the Daily mail with the article about the BSD, so I went out and bought the book, which I finished yesterday.

.So today I start, my goals are smaller clothes, more controllable diabetes, feet ulcers too become more stable so I can get back too work and find a new love. Any help along my path is very appreciated, so here goes.

    Starting weight, 20st 1lb
    Morning bloods 10.2
    Waist 48 inch

    Hey Budgie,

Good for you for making a determined new start! You’ll find the BSD will definitely help you to get your diet and blood sugars under control. Smaller clothes will be needed relatively swiftly too! It sounds like you are really keen to meet your goals and we’ll all be here to support you along the way 🙂 Good luck!

Well you are certainly in the right place both mentally and physically. Physically you are here with us and we are here to help you, I sound like an evangelist, sorry. Mentally, you have been through it and you are ready to put things right. You should be able to achieve everything you want on this diet. It is not a miracle worker but pretty near to it. At least medically your life will improve even if we can’t improve your love life, that will come.

Enjoy the journey, it is well worth the effort, the carb blues, the hunger (although not for me) and the flak you will get from your doctor. Put a message out to all of them, you are doing this for you.

    Good luck.

I had foot ulcers a long while back while i was still working in retail. I finally got rid of the ulcers with a zinc oxide cast up to my knee AND i stopped working and pretty much did minimal walking AND i got around on crutches when i had to be out and about. Took about 6 weeks.
Looked like a real caste only super thin.
I got the crutches because if you move the leg during the process you will give your skin a big chaffing sore.

Good luck on BSD …. my feet will be really thanking me when i take some weight off.

Hi and thanks everyone, I’m starting too feel the benefits, and so are my feet. The only app I use is the one on my phone that records my steps. So any other useful apps recommended will be highly welcomed.

    Thanks

Hi budgie….well done for joining ,it took me a while to convince myself I could cut down on my carbs…I us the free “fatsecret” app…..it helps me check my calories and carbs…you can search any food and it also includes supermarket brands so it definately helps rather than guessing….
Good luck and I look forward to hearing your progress…onwards and upwards…..

2nd week weigh in and I am now 19st 5lb and bloods are averaging 4.2-4.6 so really pleased, if my feet was good enough for me too excersise weight would be lower, but sadly hospital still want me off my feet for healing. But people have noticed the lost.

Budgie that helps prove a point. Lots of people (and I’m thinking Daily Mail) said ‘of course if you lose weight your diabetes will improve’. It is not necessary to lose weight just lose the carbs. I have only lost 17 lbs in 5 months but my BG’s are great. Fingers crossed for my very soon test.

    Hi Budgie,
I have been reading through your posts. You are doing really well considering that you are unable to do much exercise due to problems with your feet. Keep it up!
    I started the diet yesterday
    Start Weight 15st 11.5
Ideally I would like to lose 6 stone.
