I don’t know, Marie! Fast enough to learn what “seeing stars” on impact really means!!! It didn’t help that I was
wearing clogs, which went straight into “the bin” the very next day! The black eye didn’t show up until the
following morning, and was quite a shock, haha!

Haha, yes I have the same problem, Marie. I told my husband that when we go walking, I’m more tired because I’m working much harder than he is because he has the mechanical advantage of long legs. He didnt believe me till I asked him how he would like to ride a bike with small wheels 😀

    Hello ladies,
You NSV achievements are very motivating and some stories hilarious. Allie, yours running into a wall would be hysterical if I didn’t walk into my open fridge door. Not only I knew it was open I was going to shut it….How that happened I don’t know 🙂.
I’m struggling at the moment as too many things I need to do before we go on holidays. Yesterday I succumbed to carbs (egg baguette at work and tuna pasta sweetcorn for dinner with my little girl) and today I felt ill.
The baguette looked better than tasted and not having that sort of carbs for a while made me feel like I would need to be sick and very heavy.
However, on a positive note, I took a look at trousers I used to wear when hiking in Switzerland 10+ years ago a nd last year only one of my ankles could fit in and I braved to try them on. Not only I got my ankles, but also my knees and thighs and even my fat @ss(that is getting smaller) in. I did the zip and the buttons ….and packed it up with me for the hols in switzeand this coming week. Although my weight loss is not progressing the way I want, there is a FREAKING AMAZING development! And I likes it! 🤪.
    All the best,
    Skinny to be

Your holiday sounds wonderful, skinny! You’ve had enough weeks in to know where the “dangerous food”
lives, when looking at a restaurant menu. It will be difficult to count calories, but carbs are absolutely yours
to control 🙂 Have a marvelous time!!!

Oh dear, Alliecat – you’ve made me grateful I walk slowly!

Just done my longest ever run! I do that slowly too, but my stamina is really improving. Not only can I go further, but I recover much quicker too. OK, it’s still not very far and any other runners I happen to see whizz by me, and probably always will, but I’m not competing with them. I’m competing with the pre BSD me – and I am winning!

Today I was putting stuff away in the wardrobe after ironing. I notice that there was a garment the same colour as a t shirt I was putting away. Puzzled as to what it might be I got the garment out. It was a dress I had bought as my Christmas dress, a burgundy dress with lace at the bottom Sounds awful but actually very pretty. Needless to say it did not fit at Christmas, and as I had left it until last minute I did not get around to sending it back. For curiosity I tried it on, my lord it fits and looks great! So I wont be panic buying a Christmas dress this year! Just got to decide what shoes or boots to wear with it, high or low, thick tights thin tights! Think I will leave the label out SIZE 12. I must have been bonkers last Christmas to think it would ever fit!
Squidge I go running very early in the morning, its not real running as I have an ankle injury and my gait leaves a lot to be desired Phsio cleared me for running again, but slowly slowly. I run early because I don’t want anyone to see me. But having read your post above, you are quite right, Im not competing with them I am competing with myself. Fitbit says that I get into the peak zone and its a bit more every day so that’s a result.
    Down we go!

Yay! That’s great, Zinny. The dress sounds very nice for Christmas.

My latest victory does involve scales, but not my weight, so i’m hoping it counts? My husband is now in the healthy weight range! He wasn’t hugely overweight and never intended to do the diet ‘properly’ but agreed to make some changes to support me and so we weren’t having two different meals all the time. Even doing it part time he began to lose weight and feel better. He’s gradually adopted the diet more fully (no calorie restrictions, just a big cut back on refined carbs) and is very happy to continue with this WOE. Knowing it’s working for both of us gives extra incentive to continue – and of course both of us doing it makes it easier to continue.

Squidge that is super news . . . I believe that was both thoughtful and a huge step for him to take. SO well done hubby!!! Continued success to you both . . . Im into week 6 loving the results of what hasnt been a diffucult switch from my previous eating habits at all . . . in fact I think it is way easier than I was doing before! AND I like bragging about the fancy names I place on my meals when telling others 🙂 Sounding more like a masterchef every day!!! Deconstructed hamburgers, Ginger and pakchoy king prawns . . . Atlantic salmon steak with spinach, babybeets and feta salad. Stuffed brushetta and haloumi mushrooms . . . Lemon peppered pork fillet . . . sounds like I love in a high class restaurant – and isnt costing as much as I was spending before. 🙂

Oh Squidge thank you 🙂 Thats a huge compliment! I only have myself to please or answer to so if something doesnt turn out it really doesnt matter too much 🙂 But I must admit for a girl who never really liked veges Im sure as heck eating a lot of them 🙂 The stuffed mushrooms idea came from Rashays chain of family restaurants. Save for the salad sids, it is the only thing on their menu without carb. (Its like a steak and chips or chicken schnitzel house, with fettucini, pizzas rissotto – (oh how I will miss my daughter-in-laws signature dish . . .) BUT those mushrooms with a little oil in their hearts, with the chopped tomato, onion and feta piled on and either grilled or ovened Im not sure – will have to ask 🙂 are then served with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar . . . they are SO GOOD. AND so simple. I also had a friend post on FB a GREAT breakfast idea . . . It was made in a muffin tin. Minced steak was seasoned as one would like . . . and divided into small balls which were then used to line each of the muffin recesses . . . (forming a crust so to speak.) I think these were put into the oven for a short time then removed. I remember eggs were whipped, and bacon, shallots or whatever you like Im guessing added . . . before gently pouring the mix into the mince casings. The results when oven baked were mini quiches. I thought how wonderful to have those in the fridge to just microwave for breakfast, or add to a salad for lunch . . OR with different veges for DINNER! Anytime really. Im definitely keen and going to give them a try. Another meal was ground beef . . . put in the fryingpan with the usual additives . . . AND I STILL ADDED A LITTLE BUTTER!!!!! when it was all browned . . . I added the coleslaw mix bag . . (more cabbage in that!) – and some chinese herbs like the Asian 5 mix. That was way too nice . . . I had to actually stop myself eating what was two meals quantity!!!!! And the gingered king prawns with shallots, onions, and bokchoy . . . . . well thats pretty good as well 🙂 Capsicum can be added to all these if you like or need a change up or colour 🙂 Im enjoying experimenting. 🙂 Again thanks for the compliments

Ooooh, I’m drooling! Definitely going to try some of those ideas.

You mentioned the mini quiche things elsewhere, but I hadn’t realised the meat was the crust and the egg the filling. (My version of carbless quiche is just the usual filling, baked in greasproof paper rather than pastry). Your version sounds very different – sort of like a Scotch egg (do you have them over there?) So I’ll give them a try.

I love trying things when eating out, then creating my own version at home. It’s surprising how many things can be tweaked into low carb alternatives with a bit of creativity.

Nearly forgot to mention my NSV! I was jogging this morning and met someone I know, so stopped to chat. Now I know full well I don’t look my best halfway through a run – I get red and swetay just putting my trainers on! My once snug lycra shorts and top are now unnatractively baggy, my hair manages to be frizzy and limp at the same time … Anyway, she mentioned that she’d driven past me a few days ago and saw I’d lost weight and looked really good. The change must have made an impression for the sight of me mid run not to have put it out her mind!

She asked if it was the running which had made the difference, so I told her about the BSD. Think we may have another convert!

Last time I tried on my favourite cream cotton dress was a couple of weeks ago. I had managed to get it over my head, and started to pull it down, then realised it was still way too tight, but by now was stuck, with it bunched up around my arms and my chest. My arms were sticking out, I was waving around, dancing round the bedroom feeling panicky but too embarrassed to call for help. I finally got it off without ripping it, and havent dared try it since.
Anyhow, I decided to have another go last night, and IT FITS!!!!!!! Happy Girl!!!

Haha, Theo! I’ve got it! I shall look and see if my veil is still intact, i.e., has not disintegrated, and flip
the front piece over my head 🙂 That should disguise the ravages of time, don’t you think ? I don’t think
the shoulder length gray hair will conjure up memories of the fresh faced bride!. But then again, the
bearded one does now need spectacles….(too many decades with his head buried in books!) I’m going
for it, this year will be a trial run, and I love MnM’s mother’s tradition to appear in her wedding gown on
her 50th. We’ll do this together next year, Theo! I’m going to count on it 🙂 Are you in??? xxx

Have you got that new smartphone yet? We could stun everyone by resurrecting our Phoenix thread and posting pics!🤗😍😘 Hey, maybe we could post a “The Way We Were” and a “The Way We Are Now” photo – as long as the veils are allowed to stay in place!😉😆👍

    Maybe MnM will join in?👍

PS Does your Bearded One still look like a fresh-faced groom? I suspect not! I know mine doesn’t – a lot less hair for a start, apart from the beard of course. He didn’t have that when we wed!

I have got 6 lb to go until I reach the lowest weight I can recall being in my adult life. I know I’m a lot older now but I feel that l look better than I did back then, I’m more comfortable with myself than I was then too. I suppose that is a non scale victory. Getting older also means that I don’t have to follow the fashion crowd slavishly, not that I ever did. If I like it and it fits and is not something I will wear once then not bother with, then I will buy. After years of buying because it was the only thing that did fit in the outsize shop , it’s good to have a choice. Today I’m wearing one of my husbands shirts and a pair of his very old Levi’s. I never dreamed I would be able to get them on! He has never had a weight problem he weighed 9 stone 4 when I met him and he is just touching 10 stone now. I’m enjoying BSD recipes although some of them have not worked for me, and today I feel happy, and I feel glad that I can do the things I do
like put on shoes and not have the feeling of being cut in half.
    Hope all feeling good today

old days only too well! Enjoy the new clothing experience 🙂 Even though I arrived at target weight 16 months ago,
I still open boxes of ordered clothing, hold them up, and think this will never fit me, but it does! It often makes
me laugh out loud…A surreal experience!

I have a new NSV – I managed to get into a pair of fashionable wellies. – I have always had bulky calfs, even specialist extra wide wellies were too narrow for my legs. and I have had to stick with ankle high boots which isn’t nice when you find a deep patch of mud. – Not any more, I tried on a fashionable pair of long wellies with a cartoon dog logo yesterday and I could get into them. – Not yet practical to buy cos, I couldn’t have tucked any trousers into them. – But, maybe in the future. 🙂

Knowing my luck, best way to guarantee a dry winter is to buy a pair of long wellies so I can cope with mud. Bit like the Christmas when I was a child and my main gift was a pair of roller skates. what happened – snow.

Allie – I can’t wait to buy clothes that look like dolls clothes! 🙂

I did buy a pair of 3/4 length striped wellies, just not the yellow full length ones with the doggy print on them. – The 3/4 length ones were thicker rubber, with a proper tread and they are bright colours. I think the doggy print ones were more intended for someone to wear to a festival rather than wear everyday. They just looked like good fun to wear when they were on the shelf. – Typical of me, if the phoenix thread is restarted what will I be showing off ….. off the shoulder dresses, skimpy swimming costumes, no, my high point is a pair of new wellies.

But what it does mean is maybe, just maybe, come winter time I could go into a shoe shop and buy some boots without sitting there with boots that don’t come within inches of meeting around my calf and a condescending shop assistant looking down her nose saying “those are the widest extra wide boots we stock madam. ” =
On the rare occasions when I do venture into a shoe shop I can’t help wondering if we have been taken over by aliens, when did human feet develop into a long pointy shape?

and I do need to invest in the blasted iphone. I will need a tutor however, and husband is not very receptive
to accepting this role. I think I’m making progress! I hope this week’s vacationers at the bunkhouse have treated
your establishment well. Do you have to vet your guests beforehand, or do you pretty much accept what
    comes your way?
