I am interested to know if MM has posted blood tests over the time he has been on his diet.
It would be great testament to the reliability of the diet to do what it says.
Any help in directing me to his results would be appreciated.

Hi Bruce, I note from your profile that you are interested in the 5:2 diet but you have posted in the Blood Sugar Diet section. Not a problem but people answering this will probably be on the full BSD as I am. I think Dr M was diagnosed fairly early and had a reading just in the diabetic range, that along with his high cholesterol was a warning sign. He took control with this way of eating and very quickly his BG fell back into normal range. I dont know if he still has regular checks, I am sure he does and I assume from him not publishing anything more that he has stayed in the normal range.
As for me, I started this 2 years ago with a reading of 190 (10.5) and within 6 weeks my reading were 6.5 on my official HbA1c test. 3 months later I was down to 5.5, so a success for me. However, and here is the thing, I had diabetes for 12 years and was (still am) using insulin – mainly due to bad dietary advice and a bad reaction to tablets, so I have never expected ‘a cure’ from this diet. What I have is a 50% reduction in insulin requirement and a 50% drop in other meds. I still live in hope that I will be able to stop injecting but what with life getting in the way and the occasional dietary mishap (think Christmas, think Cruise etc) and I have just amount managed to maintain the improvement I saw in the first few months. If you are pre-diabetic or newly diagnosed (within 2 years) you have every chance of reversing the diagnosis but would have to stick with this way of eating to stay diabetes free.
Hi Bruce – when I was diagnosed my HB1aC was 125. In Mmol/L this is equal to 19.0. I was Immediately put on multiple insulin injections throughout the day. Injecting after every meal and snack I ate and then injecting Lantus insulin at night. Even though I was following NHS advice to the letter – eating starchy carbs and injecting – I couldn’t control my blood sugars enough to avoid the diabetes complications and had diabetic macular oedema and retinopathy and my foot deteriorated from low risk to medium risk as it went numb.
At this point I found the BSD. So now no insulin and no starchy carbs, diabetes and eye probs in remission and a low risk foot. HB1aC 40 which is 6.6 in Mmol/L or 5.8 in the old way we used to calculate HB1aC in the UK. I do have to stay very low carb But consider myself as one very lucky person to have found the BSD . Hope this is helpful.
