Hi Neelia, the simple answer is no as there are slight differences. The BSD 800 was designed for diabetics and is quite strict with the reduction or elimination or white starchy carbs. The Fast 800 is basically the same diet but you can add in some carbs if you can keep it within the calories. The 5;2 is the 800 calorie diet but only for 2 days a week (and they dont have to be consecutive i.e. Mon, Tues or Mon Fri, or whatever suits best). The rest of the week you eat what is called the Mediterranean diet (also on this site) which is healthy eating based around lots of veg and salads with oils, fish, chick peas etc – what they would eat in hot countries in the Med. Again, the Med allows some carbs but to think like an Italian or Spanish etc you would have carbs in very small quantities. In the UK we would have spag bol which is a massive plate of pasta with some meat and tomato sauce, the Italians have just a small portion of the pasta. If you are not diabetic it is still a good idea to cut the starchy white carbs completely but you can have say, brown carbs like brown rice, wholemeal pasta or wholemeal bread. So in answer to your question are they the same, NO, to your question can they be used at the same time, SORT OF, you can mix them up so you could do the BSD strict 800 no carbs for a couple of weeks then switch to 5:2 for a couple of weeks. Yes it can be complicated when you are trying several diets. Find out what works for you.
