Good morning all .I seem to of plateaued at the moment so i guess i will have to wait for my body to catch up with itself .I started really positively on the second 8 week programme but i,ve not been able to get under the 16 stone mark. One of the reasons is complacency because i,ve lost over two and a half stones mentally i think iv`e achieved what i set out to do and that is going to make the last 7 pounds really hard to get rid of.Another weekend of Samba gigs ahead and next weekend on Sunday its our big one i think its the biggest street carnival outside of London and thats the Cowley road street parade and festival in Oxford..
So the deadline for me is to lose between 5 and 7 pounds by the 21st July .. Have a great weekend guys Cheers Steve

The plateaus are hard, and definitely hard to keep motivated. Not sure it’s the same for a man, but i look at the weight loss pics on pinterest when I need to remind myself that even though people keep telling me how well I’m looking, i’m still only half way through. Good luck with the battle. I used to live just off Cowley road…is this festival an evolution of the reclaim the streets festivals they used to do, way back in the 90s?

So i managed to lose another 3lbs and got myself down to 15 stones 11lbs . a result for me it takes my body awhile to adjust sometimes, if i can lose another 4lbs that will be a 3 stone weight loss in around 18 weeks or so, 3 stones is 42 pounds the equivalent of 22 bags of sugar.. So another two weeks to go till i look at just maintaining my weight ..I had to go shopping to buy new clothes at the weekend most of what iv`e been wearing is now to big..All the best for the coming week and i will check back with you all next week
    Cheers Steve

Ooh good to read – well done 🙂 Buying clothes because the old ones are too big is such a good feeling. I’m going through a plateau myself right now, so reading about your loss has reminded me to keep ploughing on. It’s so strange when you think of the weight loss in terms of packets of food too…makes you realise how much extra you were carrying around!

Oh, I am glad I am not the only one suffering from a plateau! Soooooooooooooooooooo fed up with being the same weight for over 10 days now!!! I’ve only got 1 week left of my 8 weeks and haven’t made it to 1.5 stone off. Woe is me!!!!! That said, my clothes are much looser. One of my skirts keeps swivelling round while I am wearing it. And it was tight when I started! Perhaps the mysterious, unseeable visceral fat is melting away and not having any effect on my weight?
    Well done, Old Sponger!
Think I am going to do the 800 calories a day on weekdays and ease up a bit at weekends once my 8 weeks is up.
Any more tips for getting off a plateau? I feel like I need to be helicoptered off it…

All of us hit a plateau at one time or another, the secret is to just keep plodding on and it will eventually come right. Be sure to keep hydration up and it might be worth checking your carb levels haven’t crept up – other than that, just keep going. Have to say it sounds like you are doing pretty good though victoriaplump. Hope your next weigh-in gives you the reward you are hoping for.

Yes it’s a pain, isn’t it? Although loose clothing does remind you that you are in a losing trend, even if not at the actual time. (I did fall off the wagon a bit last Sunday though, so maybe my sins are catching up on me!) I have totally lost track of what week I’m on…but I think I’m now just going to think of it as a lifestyle, rather than a diet for a fixed time. When I eventually get to my goal weight I think i’ll gradually start introducing things and see how my weight changes, and try to find a carb/calorie level where I can stay there long term. I also really want to go back to being vegan, so that’ll take some adjustments, trying to stay low carb.

Hi all, I’m starting second bout of 8 weeks at the end of June 2017. I found that over the final two weeks of the first bout I started to ease up. Now I know that this is not really an option for me. I either do it or I don’t.

So, day 1 post birthday (no cake, but other sins). I really thought I’d massively overdone things yesterday. I started with having more than one square of chocolate after lunch. Might not sound like much but I have been able to have just 1 square a day for the past 8 weeks. The extra chocolate was added to the cappuccino I had in the morning. That’s 100 calories all on its own. Then I was shouted another coffee in the afternoon, but felt like something else so had a hot chocolate. Another 150 calories. Wasn’t hungry before ballroom but when I got home was a bit down after such an UP UP UP day and compounded the damage with a sourdough, roast capsicum and cheese melt followed by more chocolate! Emotional eating!

Was determined to log everything though, and when I did I found that it was not such a disaster after all.
But this afternoon I’ve had a bit of a cook fest. As I’m away next week I had some stuff to use up. I’d been given a bag of lemons so made several jars of lemon butter. And, because I only use the yolks, I had a dozen egg whites left over.

I mean, what’s a girl to do? Made meringue using my Kitchen Aid. Oh I LOVE that machine. But it was a lot of meringue. Decided to make it coffee flavoured as the base for a Caribbean pavlova. Will add banana, chocolate and coconut WITH A LOAD OF CREAM, and that wasn’t even meant to be upper case, but I suspect it is appropriate.

Oh, and yes, I have been licking bowls and spoons.

I did walk to work today and I will again tomorrow. I will also share some of that coffee meringue with the girls and boys in the office.

Being away next week at a catered winter school will be OK I think. There will be lots of veg and not having to cook it will make it easier for me eat loads of it.

    Thanks for letting confess.

Two weeks left for me on this second cycle and after all the carnivals parades and samba socialising this last month which has made life somewhat complicated but very enjoyable i,m back on it big time so weight wise i`m only 4 pounds away from my target of
15 stones 7 pounds so i,ve been dropping roughly a pound a week i,m ignoring all the rises and falls i can really hit my target now as life will get back to normal . we had the lamb tagine from the 8 week bsd cook book page 137 i think it is, last night substituted the quinoa for chic peas in the tagine if you try it just be carefull of the amount of paprika 3 teaspoons is alot and its quite overpowering .
Keep on guys and i will post again next week.. Cheers steve

Hi, on my last day of a short break. It was all catered so by dinner tonight I had succumbed to dessert (mini mud cake, cherry sauce and cream). But I didn’t have rice, pappadom etc with my butter chicken.

Still rather pleased that I don’t want sugar in my tea or coffee either.

Back on the wagon on Saturday. I need to bake bread (allowed one slice of home made sourdough a day) and shop for vegies (want to make the cauliflower and capsicum soup).

I hope by my Monday weigh in I will have undone some of the damage from the past 5 days. Three meals a day, no matter how healthy, is too much for my body. I’m quite happy with them, but not the bod.
