Other than potatoes, are there any vegetables I should be avoiding?

I had betroot today and as I was eating them I wondered if maybe I shouldn’t be as they’re so sweet and a bit potato like. Also how about sweetcorn, sweet potato and butternut squash?

Beetroot is fine, Dr M uses it in some recipes. I am not a fan of squash, so would always seek a substitute.

Rule of thumb is that if it’s a veg that grows above the ground it’s fine.

Below ground, with exception of onions, treat with more caution.

Some sites say sweet potatoes are better than ‘normal’ spuds, on the diet, as opposed to maintenance they should both be treated with more caution.
