Lucky, very sorry if I made you feel bad. I think you are one of the most inspirational people on this forum. Great ideas for recipes and seriously funny. I wouldn’t be where I am without this forum and the support it provides.

You are doing amazingly well and congrats on all the weight loss. I am convinced that for a lot of us this diet will prove a long term win.

I don’t think I could go down in budgie smuggler size. I’m sure there must be some sort of public decency law which would preclude it. If not there should be!

I’m having all sorts of mental swimming ideas recently. One is to do an open water marathon. If you haven’t seen one before, watch one on the olympics, it makes the running marathon look like a stroll in the park. The mens final is on Tuesday 16th at 1pm. Mellouli won it last time out, but he’s not favourite this year. It’s an absolutely phenomenal feat.

The second would be to do a medley (400/800 meter combining the 4 main strokes). Bearing in mind I have NEVER ever done butterfly in my life and my backstroke isn’t great. I’d like to give myself a target date and time for either of these then try and raise money for charity to complete it.

Hey Lucky- you shouldn’t knock yourself down. Consider yourself lucky as I have to lose 129 lbs in total. I’ve only lost 16lbs so far , so actually you’ve done really really well.

Everything needs to be in perspective.

Great to read about everyone else’s successes too.

Even this walking challenge and associated ‘duels’ is doing me good.. it’s all about getting more active 🙂

Btw, I just had a cookie that my colleague brought back from Spain ‘to be polite’. O.M.G. 102 calories???????? For ONE?? I’ll stick to the flaked almonds I think..

Just a quickie as am baking Pumpkin bread FINALLY! Finally… it had better taste nice I tell you. And I’ve taken pictures and I’ve ran it through MFP and it’s relatively low carb per slice.
But high calories. Can’t bloody win, can we?

Irishgirl, no – believe me, you didn’t make me feel bad, honestly, I swear on my children’s lives. I’m sorry if I made you think that. I am really chuffed to bits for you, I love seeing people reach their goals, major or minor, and that was a biggie for you! I just wasn’t quite so chuffed when I saw how many MORE pounds I needed to get there. I genuinely didn’t think it was that many… and I think it enforced not only just exactly how big I was, but how big I still am. Meh. Never mind! It didn’t all go on overnight, it won’t all come off overnight. And at least I’m 50lbs away from it and not 84lbs as I was!

Gavin, I have 110 lbs to lose (well, less 34 now!) so I’m not too far off you!

Will reply to you all properly in a mo, just go and wash up the mess I’ve just made then I think I’ve earned a coffee! 😀

I bought Euphoriums low carb “Protein bread” the other day – nice but sort of cakey.
Also bought a giant jar of my favorite peanut butter (non sugary one) at the weekend because it was special offer – then realised that I really only eat it on toast.

OOooh just remembered. Did anyone see Eating Well For Less yesterday? There was a really nice recipe that I’m keen to try. Chickpea and sweetcorn burgers.

IIRC he got a tin of chickpeas and mashed them up, then a tin sweetcorn and mashed that in too. Bound it together with gram flour and added some spices.

No idea what the carbs/cals is on that lot, but I’m pretty sure it’s more than allowable on the BSD. Only mistake they made was to shove it in between two slices of starch. I’m thinking you could wrap it in some lettuce with tomato and a bit of youghurt for moisture.

Morning Eps! Awwww I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy your turnips, I feel bad now for raving about them! They’re no potato, nor are they a sweet potato, but I find they’re enough to give me that sensation of having a potato wedge. I had to cook mine a fair while, despite boiling them for 30 minutes, to give them a bit of colour on the outside, they weren’t crispy, no, but firm on the outside and softer on the inside. If I really spice them up, or if I have them with something spicy I can dip in like chilli or curry, then they will do the trick for me better than a chickpea wrap will. I’m attempting corned beef hash with them on Saturday, with a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge mound of sweetheart cabbage. Re sis in law, no I can’t do that, that would really make me cringe. I would never walk into anyone’s house and start cleaning. As nice as it would be for her to do that lol.

Welcome Stealth 🙂 You saw the book for a reason, I believe 🙂 Good luck on following the plan, and we’re all here to support and gee you on!

I know, you’re right Tokyo, I shouldn’t look at the massive picture, just the big one so far. I have got a list of mini goals (34 of them, and I’ve crossed off 10 and I’m a pound away from the 11th!). Enjoy acupuncture. At least you’ll be still while you’re having it!

Morning Timmy! Good luck on your swim, just thinking about it exhausts me! Will Mrs Timmy be joining us in our thread of lunacy??

Janey, bloody hell, HOW MANY calories? Sheeesh!

Frog, see – you nearly took them back!! Imagine if you had 😮 Bread smells nice so far. Looked a bit carrot cakey in it’s unbaked form? Which it would be I guess with a shedload of squash in it. I hope it toasts because I too am dying for Peanut Butter on toast.

Didn’t see it last night Timmy, remembered about it half an hour in so plan to watch it on iPlayer. And last week’s hopefully if it’s still on, forgot completely about that one.

Spanish pork meatballs tonight! Was going to have butternut noodles, but underestimated how much I’d need for the bread and so unless I can get them in Tesco later, will have to be salad. Not feeling the love for the salad this week, I’m afraid, weather too crap.

Good luck with the vegan cake. I say that sombrely. No offence to any vegans. But. I’m stretching my limits as it is eating cake made with no traditional flour and no sugar.

I need to do some walking… wait for my bread, I can check it in another 8 minutes, and it may or may have up to 30 minutes more to cook. It best not be burned.

chickpeas and sweetcorn are both a bit carby – 16.5g and 11.5g of carbs for 100g of each – but I suppose that’s only 14g of carbs for a 100g burger.

Remember thinking they ought to do a program with someone doing BSD!
    – and as ever, a family with 2.4 children!!!
They always work with a 2 parent family with children – using with a single person household would give it more variety & make it relevant to more people.

Agree with that Frog, although it’s relevant to me with a big family, not everyone is in that position and it’d be good to see variation rather than the same thing week on week. Single people, single parents, students even! And I’d force my son to watch it! I remember hubby showing me something he’d posted on FB a few months into his degree, he’d cooked his first ‘home cooked meal’. Pasta (from Morrisons) (but at least it was fresh pasta not packet) and a chilled pasta sauce (again, from Morrisons). I nearly disowned the little sod. How easy is it to whip up a pasta sauce?? He’s eaten nothing but crap this last year. I should have weighed him when he arrived back in June and before he leaves again in September. If he leaves, that is… resits in just over a week…

Right, off for a shower, then off to finish my shop as the bread cools! Hopefully get a few thousand steps in there… she says.

    Hi Lucky.

Just read your post about the pounds you have to go, there are an awful lot of us on here who also have that amount and more to loose. I’m tackling it this way, I have lost almost 2 stone in 5 weeks, I have 80 more to go, I have spent 41 years failing at dieting. This eating plan, feels very intense and all consuming, so can make me impatient, but I just remind myself as you said it didn’t all arrive overnight, so we have lovely food to eat, excellent company, and well we just want to be chrimbo bsd ers don’t we.
I started getting worried the other day as I am very reliant on this forum for making me feel I am not doing it alone, so what I am badly trying to say, myself and all the other peeps who have years worth to shed, are in the BSD party with you. We all do it at a different rate, but if you look at captain Lynne’s example she lost her 80 lbs with an average 2lb a week. So keep going, you are building muscle, that weighs differently, just be patient rewards will arrive im sure.

    Love jan😊😊😊

So Timmy, a cautionary tale re your speedos. I was in South West France at the weekend in a nice little place called Lectoure. Anyway it was very warm and a number of us decided we would like to use the public pool (which is a very nice outdoor pool). In France they have brought in some new regulation that men’s bathers need to be close fitting (i.e. budgie smugglers). My friend’s partner only had loose fitting swimming shorts so he was being refused entry. After much debate he revealed his blue Primark underpants and asked ‘will these do’ ? To which the reply was ‘oui’ and in he went. At that point a number of us decided we didn’t really fancy a swim after all….

Good grief no Yowzer. Anchorman is quite modern.

    It’s basically a massive p!ss take of everything 70s/80s.

Here is the scene I’m on about. https://youtu.be/m9iXlOHtzV4

Btw, I’ve seen both Sex Pistols and FNM live. Both in Hyde park funnily enough, but about 20 years apart! If off the wall music is what you like, then try out Mr Bungle (whom I’ve also seen live)

Thanks Jan 🙂 I am fine, just felt a little overwhelmed yesterday when I realised just how big a task was at hand for me. Knowing I’m not the only one helps.

Just a quickie! My quickie shower turned into a marathon clothes trying session for hubby and I. He has a pile of shirts he is now too big for, loads of shirts he’s never fit into and looks great in. I’m in trousers that haven’t fit me since 2011… and THE JEANS OF THE FUTURE FIT! Ok, I’ll rephrase, the jeans of the future now close on me. I can close them. They have a two dozen muffin top on, I dare say I’d be comfortable sat down in them (and I’d look shocking) but I am in them and I can close them! Another couple of weeks, four I reckon max, and I’ll be in them and looking good in them. Yay me!

Right, off to finish my shop, finally! Sliced my bread and it looks good and it’s cooked. Will try it when we’re back and give you the verdict. Yes, toasted, yes with peanut butter on.
