Morning ladies (and gent if Timmy is lurking anywhere) 🙂

Well Tokyo, results are in. As predicted it wasn’t a massive weight loss, but it was the better of the worst case scenario. 2lb off for the week? What’s annoying me is that I’d already lost that by Tuesday, put it back on over the next two days, and then lost it again over the next two. But still! It’s a 2lb loss for the week. I’m sure that by now on WW I’d be doing the ‘One pound on, one pound off, two pounds on, nothing off, half a pound off’ dance by Week 7 🙂 So I shouldn’t be anything but pleased with a 2lb weight loss. That takes my weightloss BACK to 32lbs for the 7 weeks lol. I would really love to get my 2 and a half stone by the end of week 8 (because I like things nice and neat, especially figures haha), so that’s what, another 3lbs is it? I think. But I also know no matter how hard I try (2lbs weight loss) and how hard I comparitively don’t try (5lbs weight loss) on some weeks, it is indiscriminate. It’s coming off at its pace, not mine, and I need to find a way to accept that. And just be pleased that it’s coming off at all 🙂 But I will be really pushing for 3lbs + this week.

Janey, how did the yogurt turn out??

Jan, fantastic. I think we should all get prizes. Imagine being able to wrap a bath TOWEL around you again? Let alone a sheet. How that would feel? Anything is possible. Anything. With the right state of mind and the right support.

Yowzer, SO glad you enjoyed Man Down 🙂 Wasn’t Rik Mayall fantastic in it, some of the things he would do, attacking his son. His death could have meant the show losing something, but you’ll see as you progress what a worthy successor his auntie is in it. Might see if I can chuck in a few episodes today 🙂 I like Fage too, but I also really like the Aldi Greek and it’s a fraction of the cost. Hubby prefers the Aldi Greek.

Mine works out as 63 lbs, but done much slower. I still have about the same to go but am trying to get myself into the habit of doing this so it is sustainable for me afterwards. Too many times have I lost a load of weight and then put it straight back on again. At least this time I know what causes it! OH has lost over half a stone just by cutting back, not out, some of the carbs like bread, and smaller portions of potato.

😀 Jan 😀 I didn’t know they did 32lb lost awards? Or was it created just for me because I am special? 😉

Is it going to be a good weekend??? Are we going to be virtuous? Well??

Does everyone know what they’re having for tea? I’m attempting the turnip ‘potato’ wedges anyway. Sea salt, black pepper and a good shake of cayenne over them. Or chilli flakes. I’ve got very little in to go with them though, because we thought we would be camping from yesterday I didn’t do a ‘big shop’. Hubby suggested pork burger or Heck sausage but I was fancying something moist like chilli or curry so I could dip them in. I have really been fancying Chinese curry sauce, you know you can buy the pastes from the ethnic supermarkets, and they’re just like the takeaways have? I suppose I could have a root around online for the carb count or see if it scans in my app and make a chicken curry with not too much sauce, plenty of onion wedges, peppers and a handful of garden peas. It is the weekend after all, and considering that even as little as 4 months ago, every Saturday would consist of a binge afternoon, cakes, slabs of chocolate, baps or baguettes, crisps, popcorn AND then tea or a takeaway later, it is a vast improvement. I don’t know where I used to put it, honestly.

And that was dispite me taking my Goujon Monkey van (Google it, I’m the one with the black and yellow shirt) down the pop up pub last night and serving cod n chips and Brie and chips. I had to have a few beers for rehydration purposes you ubderstand, and I didn’t eat any chips or the batter off the fish and only had one bit of Brie! But I still somehow lost weight!!

Yoghurt seems to have done what it’s supposed to overnight. Currently cooling its heels in the fridge. Will taste test later. I think I’m frightened of turnip wedges. Should we be clearing a page in the ‘WTDW’ recipe book? 🤔

Fingers crossed. Going to be slathered in chinese Madras curry sauce anyway so… as long as it gives the illusion of potato?

I’m having homemade chicken curry with mayflower sauce you buy in powder form mix with water . instant Chinese curry sauce, I buy it in BM mind you that’s an hour drive, my friend in Wales sends me parcels of it sometimes, and my chicken curry with onion peas and mushrooms I batch cook, calculate divide up a good portion comes to 245 cals and 19 carbs add 100g cauli rice hey close your eyes and I’m back in the jade garden in my student nurse days, when we would go down there at 11 pm there were four of us, and one the floozy would wear her nighty under her coat, that was when we was getting a takeaway mind you. The forum can be a bit temperamental logging people in and out. I haven’t had that issue. Yet.

I like the powder (which is easier to get hold of) but I think the paste just edges it. Probably edges in it calories and carbs and fat and all manner too. Hmmmmmmm. Ok. I’m finding this inch loss thing a bit frustrating now. Week on week I seem to be gaining or maintaining inch loss, I’m only talking like a quarter/half an inch here and there. There is still a great overall inch loss, don’t get me wrong, but it seems to have halted completely. I am moving more, so my question to you lovely people is, do you think it could be that I’m building up muscle in my arms and legs, becoming toned? They’re not as flabby as they used to be when I tense my muscles? And of course, a muscular limb is going to be bigger than a flabby one that droops? I’m not so worried about my waist and my hips, the larger ladies here will probably understand what I mean by this, when your belly is so big and it hangs low, low, low down (shamefaced) and now it’s shrinking and rising up, up, up (happy face), so that area of my body is constantly shifting shape at the moment, where I used to have to measure across my belly button was down where my hips are (tears) but now things are starting to go back to where they should? That make any sense to anyone?

Perfect just as you are Jan 😀 And as far as I’m aware, perfection has a zero carb count 🙂 Mmmmmmmm Oppo…

That’s the only thing when scales bugger up Yowzer, no two are the same, are they? I remember back in WW, I used to weigh naked at home for my own satisfaction (well, clothes weigh don’t they? 😉 ) then weigh just before I left the house and ten minutes later in class. I could then see if my scales matched WW, and if not, I knew roughly that mine were a pound out or so. It would be handy to have Superdrug as a benchmark, but that would only work if you weighed at both Superdrug and your daughter’s in a very short space of time without eating or drinking anything. The things we do for an accurate weight.

    Hi Yowzer 16lb – wow, that’s a big cat!
Froglet only weighs 4 kilos – so you’ve lost nearly two froglets!

I remember shortly after I started BSD I had a cat food delivery, and calculated my target weight loss in cans of cat food. I had another cat food delivery last week – I have it delivered to a friends shop nearby, as I’m not likely to be home when the delivery arrives. I only had 24 cans this time, so the gross weight is 11kg, a kilo more that I’ve lost – but it was sooooo heavy to carry home, I had to keep stopping and readjusting the bag, even though it’s only about 200 meters, and eventually gave up and put it in my car which was parked part way.

A trainer told me years ago that muscle weighs heavier than fat, and muscles help you to burn energy faster so all good. I know that belly thing.
Also I measure myself in c.m. Same as in kilos it’s gives you much smaller breakdowns so more encouraging.

    Hi Lucky Maneki
I only do the measurement thing once a month – I get to see changes in between by clothes getting looser – I think I’d find it frustrating to do it as often as weekly. I know what you mean about some measurements adjusting depending on how you’re standing and holding yourself though.
My biggest thrill is volume lost on my calves – easy to do, not really subject to change on how you stand, AND I will be able to buy boots one day!
Have just been writing on another thread about how unreliable my scales seem to be – this morning between 91.9 and 93.5 in the space of half an hour.

Yes, muscle is denser than fat – a quick google got several sources quoting the same sort of stats
“muscle density is 1.06 g/ml and fat density is (about) 0.9 g/ml. Thus, one litre of muscle would weigh 1.06 kg and one litre of fat would weigh 0.9 kg. In other words, muscle is about 18% denser than fat”

To think we were carrying that around with us Frog, even though it doesn’t ‘feel’ exactly the same as lugging it in a bag or a box, think of all the extra strain we put on our limbs and internal organs?? 😮 I think I may shift to once a month measuring, you’re right. There’s bound to be a difference then.

Don’t talk to me about bloody calves or boots. TWO PAIRS of bargain sale brand new boots, one black, one brown, the widest calf fitting Simply Be did. One of each pair fits. One doesn’t. I am bouncing mad. I can just picture me stick thin with massive calves!

That’s what I was hoping about the muscle. It made sense to me, not so much the weight aspect of it, but just the change in size, the slight gain of a toned muscle vs a flabby one.

iPod working after a reset. I was in despair at the thought of 32 gig of music gone 😮 and having to walk in silence.

I can’t find the post where Bill says how to do it, just the pics Janey put on of her fartbread toastie. Yeah all sorted now Janey, I was distraught, never had anything like this happen with my ipad and it’s nearly 3 years old. Yayyyy on the new outfit, I LOVE charity shops. I used to work for Oxfam putting the stuff online etc. Everywhere I go I search out the charity shops, especially in more affluent areas 😉 But whereas before it was more out of necessity, in that I refused to pay for ‘nice’ clothes in a massive size, just making do with stuff that fits me, now I am chomping at the bit to get to the hundreds of outfits in ‘normal’ sizes, not just looking at the three or four big items shoved at the back of each rail 🙂

Yes Yowzer, I took photographs front, side and back (in knickers and modestly holding over boobs!) and even if you couldn’t physically feel it, you can see it. Without being awfully crude, apologies in advance, my gut was almost covering my foofoo completely. I could have been naked in the first two sets of photos for what you could see of my knickers!! Now I can physically touch my scar, there’s still a gut, don’t get me wrong, but it’s higher up? I don’t have to go lifting up rolls to get to it. So yes, we’re shifting shape too, that’s why I’m not too concerned about waist/hip measurements at the moment. I’m 10 inches down between them anyway, so that’s a good start.

I have to be in those boots for winter. Have to. Enjoy your Greg, plenty of laughter. Hubby not so great this morning, health seems to be on the decline again… and I’ve done very little but wash up, put one lot of washing on and take chicken out to defrost. Yes what a lovely chat we’ve had! More later? Have a nice relaxing afternoon everyone, I’ll be back when I’ve done something productive! 😀

I thought of an Archers forum that I post on occasionally last night, when someone said something about everyone here being friendly – the Archers one can be, but you often get spats that go nuclear very quickly (differences of opinion, an off interpretation of a sarcastic comment or a misplaced apostrophe).

Ziggy sounds adorable Jan – and Bengals are bigger cats and very beautiful. Frog was weighed when we did the vet visit last week (down 0.1kg form last year!). Frog is mostly an indoor cat, but I take her out on a lead – picture of her looking a bit startled in the park from a couple of years ago – https://www.pinterest.com/pin/375698793885771371/ – or type “mynwood froglet” into google.
We got a free cardboard cat house with her cat food this month – after circling round it since Wednesday, I’ve just spotted that she is curled up inside – I will have to look at the instructions on uploading pictures to show you that.
Glad that you’ve got your ipod working again Lucky Maneki – I have found the new scales I’m going to buy (now that I’ve saved money not buying a replacement pedometer) in the argos sale, reduced to £20, very good reviews – and they do all the body fat and BMI stuff too.

My calves have always been too big for boots – although I remember a pair of very wide cowboy boots in my twenties.
I had DVT in one leg a few years ago (side effect of drugs that were supposed to stop blood flow working a bit too well!). A passing nurse walked past and said “wow, that’s huge” – but was looking at the wrong leg.
I’m not sure if it was after the DVT, or one has always been larger, but one calf was 1 inch wider than the other at the start of BSD, and is now 1.25 inch wider – but both calves are smaller than when I started though, my right calf 1.5 inches smaller. I definitely wouldn’t want to be watching that measurement weekly!
There was a horrid point a few years back when I realised my ankles had got too fat for my favourite ankle boots to fit properly.

Off to take photos of Froglet in her new cat house!

I tried the euphorium protein bread (mentioned on a thread a while back) last week – very tasty, but sort of cake like rather than bread-like (almost carrot cakey, but I could have been hallucinating!) It has 30g of carbs per 100g, but the problem is that once you have some, it is hard to resist.
It’s mostly rye flour, with Sunflower Seeds, Chia Seeds and Linseed.

I have one calf consistently an inch larger than the other, even though I have lost an inch off each of mine too. I did try the boots on a few weeks ago but I looked like I’d shoved myself into them? Probably because I had 😉 I don’t want to look like that, I’d like to have legs INSIDE boots, not legs fit to burst out of them lol.

I’m not sure if that’s good or not Tokyo, I’m a bit confused. Are we not meant to eat these things because of what’s in them, or because the carb count is so high? Or is it if we can incorporate the carb count into our day and not go over, does that make the things ok? The reason I ask is with you saying about it being 16g carbs, but a slice of Warbies wholemeal is only 16.9g. Which means is it ok if once in a while I have a piece of wholemeal toast with peanut butter? I’ve just been avoiding everything under the bread umbrella apart from chickpea wraps and those flaxseed baps. Which is a bit limiting. Anyone advise? I have to admit I did read the book, but very quickly because I was so eager to start, and I don’t always retain knowledge very well lol.

I really need to start paying more attention to the carbs, don’t I?
