Heidi oh yes! I remember all of them too, and more! I sometimes wonder how Esnecca is getting on. She had lost an astonishing amount of weight but she was so very, very strict with herself. I enjoyed AllieCats posts.
S-g you have been meticulous in picking up every post by someone with T2 and always give great advice and it would be a real shame if stopped doing that. I still feel that ‘weight’ is being pushed by medics as the ‘demon’ rather carbs. I often feel that newbies come here thinking that if they could only lose weight their T2 would magically disappear. But we know, only too well, that this Way of Eating is a ‘lifetime’ ‘lifestyle’ change and not a quick fix! When I was unwell I watched some ‘live’ tv which I don’t often do and I was stunned by how ‘junk’ food is portrayed in such an appealing way. No wonder people are addicted sugar!
Pootle you have done remarkably well and will be able to offer great advice. I think you realise that keeping BS in check is a balancing act which changes, almost daily, with our commitments. I also think that the ‘balancing act’ is personal to each of us. Not all carbs have the same consequences in ‘every body’. We can ‘live with’ a T2 diagnosis once we understand the reactions our own bodies have.
No I’m not going to disappear but I’m ‘stale’ and can no longer offer the necessary support and nor can I ‘encourage’ in the same way as I did years ago. On the other hand I can’t just stand by and see people blindly assume that you lose weight, get your BS into the ‘normal’ range, then ‘go back’ to eating ‘normally’.
