Carbohydrates – sugar vs fibres?

    I have a caloriecounting app that divides carbohydrates into fibres and sugars. I try and stay below 20 grams of carbohydrates per day, should I count the fibres or is the most important thing to stay below 20 grams of sugar (i.e eat more than 20 grams of carbs but less than 20 grams of sugar?)
