Is it possible to have cup cakes on this diet? Any one know any recipes that are suitable? Or is that a silly question!

Hi NicoleDeCaux – sorry but have to say yes, this is rather a silly question. There are some relatively low carb cake recipes, but if you are going to get to grips with the BSD, it’s important to try to leave these things behind, especially in the early days. If you are going to retrain your body not to expect sweet things, eating cakes – even low carb ones – is not going to help. Try to start thinking in terms of nuts, seeds, a small cube of cheese, a little Greek yogurt, a small portion of chia pudding or some nut butter as snacks/treats if you absolutely must have them and be sure to account for them in your daily calorie and carb allowance.
Giving up the foods we have been familiar with can feel daunting, but your palate will soon adjust to the new regime and the allure of things like cupcakes will not be anywhere near as great. And in all probability you’ll no longer want them at all.

No cake, nothing with sugar in. Sugar and flour are carbs. That’s what cupcakes are made of, plus eggs. You can have the eggs.

There are cupcake recipes in the Sweet Treats Book and some cake recipes in the backs of the other books, i.e. Fast 800 Easy and Fast 800 red top but that’s not the reason for the BSD book – that’s to get your blood sugars down.
It worked for me but now I do try some of the cakes and have made the blueberry and ginger muffins that are in the Sweet Treats book. However, the cake recipes that I have tried take far, far longer to cook that the recipes say, i.e. the orange almond cake and the spiced apple teacake so take some of the timings with a pinch of salt if you try them.
