Hi all and thank you in advance for your patience if you are repeating yourself. I intend to start the fast 800 on monday but to be honest other than the recipe book have no idea what to do for breakfasts and lunches that are filling but only 200 calories? Where is the best place to search for calories in food and which is your best low calorie vegetable or salad you use to bulk out your meals? Thank you in advance

    Hi,
Would suggest starting by dropping the “big whites” as I think of them all the main sources of carbs such as, bread, sugar, rice, pasta, pizza, cake, ice cream. –
Then get one of the apps such as fatsecret on your phone so you can log everything you are thinking about eating before you do eat it. – That way you can keep an eye on your macros (carbs, protein, fats as well as calories.)
Some people on the forum followed the recipes in the book, but others simply adjusted what they normally eat. You will also find a range of recipes on the dietdoctor website that people find helpful.
On this forum there are a couple of regular threads, a weekly one and a monthly one. The weekly one changes on a monday /tuesday. On them you will find a range of people from newcomers to old hands who have been maintaining for a couple of years sharing information and requests for help. Do join in with either or both as there are people who will be happy to give you a helping hand on this journey.

Hi Wannabetrimmer – hope your first day went well. For breakfast or lunch, think eggs, yogurt, veggies, salads, nuts, seeds. There are lots of egg based dishes which can be prepared in advance and eaten cold or gently reheated. Take a look at the recipes on this site and an internet search for low carb dishes will give you lots of other options too.

Hope we will see you out and about on other threads and to read of your progress. Best wishes to you …

Thank you, I must admit I was very hungry – had roasted aubergine, sweet pepper, mushroom, onion and chicken breast for lunch. I struggled in the late afternoon and felt a bit weak until I had my evening meal. Felt hungry in the early hours which I’ve never felt before. Woke up feeling good and had roasted veg and prawns today and to stave off the hunger pangs had half a Bovril cube in hot water and feel good! I’ve planned all of this weeks and next weeks lunches and meals using the recipe book and recipe books like pinch of nom and slimming world

Hi wannabetrimmer (don’t we all!). I am certainly not a poster girl for this WoE…but…it struck me that you don’t mention healthy fats at all…Do try a bit of full fat yoghurt, and/or say feta and/or a bit of avocado….
