Thank you for continuing to host this thread, Wendy. We all appreciate it so much 🙂 I’ll be joining in as usual, but Verano
has tasked me with taking over our monthly sister thread, which is an inspired way of describing it! Another weekly
welcome to all newcomers…If you have been following along but not posting as of yet, please join us! We thrive on
making room for one more…We all do this together, and this is a safe place for all. We pass no judgement here, and
have some fun together too! 🙂 In every sense, we are a family here, and we are not only a place where newcomers can
join in and seek the advice, tips and tricks from experienced BSDers, but a support system “for life” challenges as well.
Newbie threads come and go, but this thread is always strong and very active. Cat? SunnyB? SG? Kafin? Elky? Birdy?…I’d better quit while I’m ahead, forfear of leaving someone out!!! You all know who you are 🙂 🙂 🙂

Hi all, quite new here and still finding my feet.

I’m delighted with my discard after keeping under 800 calories per day via the fast800 book by DrMM, FastCook by Mimi Spencer, plus Skinny Soups and Skinny Salads by Kathryn Bruton. I now realise that I should also be watchful of carb intake. While that’s not mentioned in either of the first two (odd, as they’re “official” authors!) the other two books itemise carbs, sugar, protein, fibre, fat, saturated fat and salt – which is very helpful but the recipes are a bit more involved, i.e., time-consuming, with what could be termed exotic ingredients for someone in Britain.

So what I’m after are recommendations for books with easy to follow recipes with easy to gather ingredients, plus accurate calorie and carb amounts – are there any out there?

Eagerly awaiting any and all replies . . .

So sorry I haven’t been in touch but life has been extremely busy.
Just hope you are all fine and dandy (so to speak).
Am up very early in the UK to get things done before the heat then I shall flop indoors for the rest of the day until the evening 😏

Hi BikeyGuy, You were asking about recipes. You can check out http://www.dietdoctor.com which has some very good ideas. Also the recipe section of this website. Luvtocook and Esnecca, to mention just two contributors, have put some lovely ideas there. There are also some specific threads eg on salads and soups, which you can find by scrolling down the list of recent topics. I often cut and paste recipes I like, and put them in a word document in my laptop for later reference. Happy healthy eating!

It great to find such a supportive group of people 🙂 I’m on day 2 of the Fast 800 after reading Dr M’s book at the weekend. Yesterday was nowhere near as hard as I expected and I discarded 3.5lbs after just 1 day!!! I have a slight headache and feel a little tired but other than that I’m feeling good 🙂 I’m trying to limit my meat consumption, does anyone have any good veggie recipe recommendations for evening meals? I’m eating 3 times a day so need to stay under 350kcal. Thanks 🙂

Your puppy is keeping you busy caronl ! Have a good Week …Don’t worry you will soon be discarding again I am sure. You are very committed.

Good to see you back Sunderland ! Stay cool

Hi Crisps ! Crisps for breakfast , indeed ! 😉 🙂 ! . Are you ok with eggs ? Frittata with veg ? Omelette with spinach and/or smoked salmon ? We do a form of baked aubergine parmeggiano too. Stirfries ?
I think dietdoctor.com has a section on veggie recipes.

A few people seem to have gone quiet ? I hope they find their way back to us. I keep hoping Amz will check back in.

Hello 🙂 Popping in to say hi. Well the boss is back after a week’s holiday and it’s end of month billing cranking up. Comes around so quickly. Glad to be at work in the aircon with this heatwave, not that I’m complaining… my house is south facing so very warm when the weather is like this and impossible to cool the upstairs down. I suspect I’ll be sleeping in the lounge tonight with the patio window wide open, blinds drawn and a baseball bat at my side! 🙂 Good to see you, Bikeyguy. Dietdoctor is great for anything you need to know. I also agree with Wendy re Jamie Oliver’s 5 ingredients cook book. The salmon fish cakes are delish!
Kafin – have you tried Avon’s lavender pillow mist? It works for me in helping me sleep, it’s just staying asleep that is my issue but am waking at 3am rather than midnight or 1am. Good to have you back, Birdy. The aches and bloat will soon subside. It’s just not worth that lethargic feeling especially when you have to be alert and on the ball at work, I find. Okay, back to the invoicing…. 🙂

    Hi all,
Thanks for hosting Wendy 🙂 Hope we all have a successful week with all the ups and downs regardless!
I’m on Day 2 of another Fast 800 fortnight. The cravings are strong, feels like various images of carbs and sweet foods are seared into my brain! Trying to distract myself by making tasty food. Tonight’s menu will be fried shrimp and asparagus with butter, garlic and Parmesan plus making cauliflower mash for the first time. Really hoping this staves off wanting the sweet starchy stuff.
My office is getting ridiculous with snacks. Yesterday and today, there was leftover birthday cake, giant trays of pastries, tubs of mini rocky road and caramel bites AND three selection boxes of chocolates! Surely a bunch of bananas and some nuts wouldn’t go amiss no? I’m pretty sure Type 2 is coming for a few workers. Seems like the worst environment to be eating all the junk anyway, sitting most of the day, stressed or bored, take your pick.

Crispsfb, great day one result, the headache should clear in a day or two. Keep going!

I’m reporting in at the end of my first proper week back, with a loss of just 0.5lb. Had been as much as 2lb at on point during the week, but today is THE weigh-in day, so I have to abide by today’s reading.

Anyway, will be persisting with the same aim of push back down to and lower the target weight …. 4.5lb to get back to target.

    Will be checking on periodically.

Hi all, like Verano I keep popping in. I start to wonder whether I am contributing anything on a day to day basis or whether I am benefitting at all. Big shock during the holiday. I know my weight has been creeping up over the past year with 2kg here and 1kg off, so one step forward 2 steps back as the saying goes. Even on the cruise in May I managed to stay true to the no carb but I must have eaten tonnes and drunk so many cocktails. I managed to lose 2kg since then and happily went off for a few days in Spain. After avoiding the mountains of potatoes they eat and staying clear of sweet sticky drinks I was getting ready for dinner on the last evening and holy sh-t, my dress wouldn’t zip up. Hubby tugged and pulled and managed to get it up – okay dirty minds out there – the zip but I went down to dinner feeling disgusted with myself. I had swam every day for 30 to 40 mins so thought I would have ‘got away with it’, I also walked miles (20k steps each day). I gave myself the weekend to get my thoughts together and work out what is important to me. Yes I want good BG control but even that is creeping up, but I also want to look nice in my clothes again.

Starting yesterday I am determined I am going to get completely back on track. On my weigh in yesterday I found I am just 8lbs away from what I was at the start of this. Still not gained everything but still 20lbs heavier which is a massive amount. I am going back to visit family in mid September so have 7 weeks to do something about it. I know I have said this before but I think something snapped when hubby said ‘you are always on a diet so why are you so……. ‘ he struggled to find a word that wouldn’t get him a tongue lashing and finally came up with ‘heavy’.

I really have to do something about it now, so I will be around and taking support from the group which is what this site is all about.

It is 43 degrees here in France today but I am lucky enough not to have to exert myself. I had a swim at 10 am before it got too hot and will swim again around 10 pm tonight. I am aiming to increase from 30 mins daily to 50 / 60 mins and keep the calories to 800 and carbs under 50. I am still here and never giving up so keeping on keeping on…

Hi Wendy, eggs are fine. I carry the guilt of being vegetarian for 30 years then starting to eat meat when I was pregnant because I was aneamic and unable to stomach iron tablets. I would now consider myself a flexitarian 😀 Aubergine parmeggiani sounds awesome!

Getting to week 5 of c25k is amazing Sunshine-girl, I did it 10 years ago and managed a marathon that same year. I just stuck to the programme. It sounds like you’re working really hard to achieve your goals, I’m sure it’ll pay off soon 🙂

Are big weight gains when you go back on carbs common? I have just shy of 5 weeks before a 10 day big family holiday and then just over 3 weeks before we head to Majorca. I was planning on just going on a Mediterranean diet for the 10 days… but don’t want to undo the previous 5 weeks!

    Hope everyone’s doing well!

    Hi CforB,
When we first move over to a low carb diet we see a rapid weight loss which is caused by the release of water. – When we eat carbs our bodies store water which causes a rapid jump.

I was at a social meeting on Sunday where we all brought a dish to share. – There was little low carb and to be honest I wanted to join in the socialising which included eating slices of different cakes made by friends for the occasion. The following morning the scales showed more than 3kg gain. Thats not fat, its water. A kg drop this morning, and I am back in ketosis this afternoon.

I expect the scales will show another drop tomorrow morning.

    Hi folks,

Just checking in to say hello to everyone 😊

I am now officially finished with my Egg Fast, including 2 days transition, and a total discard of 2.7kg (5.95lb). For me that’s an amazing amount. My breathalyser also showed ridiculously high numbers during transition, so faddy as it sounds I do think the EF is effective for kicking me into ketosis and I’m very grateful to Kafin for suggesting it. It’s something I will definitely do again in the future. Egg farmers of Australia, you have been warned lol

But I have a dear friend coming to stay for a couple of days and much food, wine and general frolic will occur, so I’ll be out of ketosis again before I can snap my fingers. This is a long planned non-judicious moment (I’m being Judicious in July following Verano’s lead – Wendy I love your description of that as a sister thread!!) so I don’t regret it for a moment.

That said, I am taking note of all those who seem to have recently fallen off—or deliberately stepped down from—the wagon and are feeling completely blah as a result, including return of old pain – Birdy, hope you’re feeling better today! I think I will try to avoid carbs just to avoid that fallout, rather than because I am being particularly noble and strict. But even if I do manage to achieve that, I know it will still be a blip in my WOE. I’ll be interested to see what happens 😊 JGwen, I’m dead impressed that you got back into ketosis so quickly, fingers crossed my body does the same.

S/girl – happy birthday, hope you have a wonderful day!

SG, you are a very tolerant lady if you let your husband get away with “heavy” without a tongue lashing!! Can I suggest you introduce him to the term “Rubenesque”? 😉

I so agree with Allie’s comment that this place is a support system beyond just carbs and ketosis. I don’t quite know how it manages that, but it surely does.

Sending positive thoughts to you all, hope you have a grand day, Elky

Hi everyone, I can share in the sad story of water weight gained. I popped up 1.5kg overnight to my heaviest ever! I think it may be a bit of delayed reaction to my higher carb weekend as I ate reasonably well yesterday. I was feeling puffy and looked bloated before and now the scales are reflecting that. However, I was running to the toilet quite literally every hour today at work (sometimes 2x per hour!), so expecting to see at least some of that gone by tomorrow. We had a fairly warm Sunday compared to what it has been (28 C vs 19 C) lately, but it has gone cooler again today. Regardless, I am following s-g’s example and I’m headed over to the pool. I’m a bit concerned about actually swimming still as I don’t want to get water in my ears and risk setting off vertigo symptoms again, but there is a deep water aqua jogging class this evening that I will try and join. Hopefully it’s not too splashy.
I just had a message from my estate agent that the people who viewed my flat today didn’t like the interior, didn’t like the price, rated it as a 3/5 but they are planning on putting in an offer. So strange! I’m expecting it to be an unsatisfactory offer, so not getting overly excited by it. Another viewing is lined up for tomorrow afternoon, so not to worry.

    Good morning.
S-g sorry about your predicament. I know that this WOE is our WOL now but I think maybe we can still eat too much of the good stuff. I sometimes feel that deadlines are counterproductive for me. As the time counts down towards an event I think I go into a sort of ‘internal’ panic and subconsciously sabotage myself because ‘time is running out’. It seems to me to be a bit like yo-yo dieting even though we have adopted this WOE. I don’t know if that makes any sense at all, but I think I need to just take one day, even one meal at a time! Hope that zip gets easier!

Hi all, yes V it is so easy to believe that because you are not eating carbs then anything else is okay. Then of course there is the weekend alcohol creep. I also have a problem with deadlines but feel I have to work towards something but hopefully a week at a time with some success could be the answer. My problem with deadlines is that I do so well in the first couple of weeks – maybe 4 or 5 pounds down that I think I can relax a little with still plenty of time to reach my time/weight goal, then I manage to put most of it back on in one weekend. I am already back into that dress with the zip problem. I think hubby exaggerates when he says he cant get the zip up (or he is trying to make a point) but I did look like a sack of potatoes even if I dont eat them. I also think there was a lot of fluid retention in Spain as their food was totally alien to us. One course we had was 3 types of meat grilled with some green jalapeano peppers on the side. Beautiful but talk about meat sweats.

Did 50 mins in the pool yesterday and already had 35 this morning. Temperature reached 43 degrees yesterday with the night time at around 36, very uncomfortable. We might just be getting cooler weather as the heat starts to hit the UK, might even get some rain by the end of the week.

Just as an aside V, I just commented on what I didn’t know was an ongoing dispute over BDS and Fast800. I think people doing the Fast800 have been misled towards this site and I think the site has changed things automatically to include Fast800. As an example, if you take a look (no pun) at TAKE A LOOK AT THIS… it is now posted under Fast800, I have noticed this about lots of posts including this One Week at a Time series which you started on 17th April 2018 under BSD, again before the Fast800 even existed. Both these posts were originally created under BSD and not Fast800. The TAKE A Look… was started in 2018 before the Fast800 ever existed (first published in 2019), so the site has changed the listing category. This can cause confusion for BSDers like us but also for the Fast800’ers who have come to this new and thinking it has always been this way. I am not making a criticism of anyone posting on whatever thread but we might just have to accept that things have changed since Dr. M brought out Fast 800 and it is he that is causing the confusion.

Hi I am new to this Forum and totally confused. This thread seemed like a way to start. I have been following the BSD since 10th June and started at 73kg, now down to 68kg, my ultimate aim is 60kg but my first aim is for the love handles on the bottom of my shoulder blades to disappear! What’s good is that before I started this my weight was going up, now that’s stopped and its SLOWLY going down. My problem is that I cannot stick to 800 calories, I get too hungry, so my calorie intake varies from more like 900 per day to as much as 1500, and for a couple of going out social occasions only it went up to 2700. I am also hungry a lot of the time and this is wearing and disheartening. I now see from this website that I should be following a carb reduction too, but that is not in the BSD book, or in the Fast 800 book. So I’d like to ask a) what should I do when I get hungry. It seems that as soon as I start to eat the hunger kicks off, a bit like an alcoholic! b) how do I do this diet AND cut carbs and how many? c) Could anyone recommend a foolproof weeks worth of eating to kick start faster weight loss d) what’s this about ketosis and how do I measure it without breaking the bank?! Many thanks, Tagiben

Welcome Tagiben and well done on making a solid start -5kg down is a good result. The carbs are what drives the hunger, so dropping your carb intake, will automatically help with your hunger issues. By doing the BSD you will have already been cutting the carbs, but perhaps not pushing them as low as you could, to get your hunger under control.
    A) when hunger strike, have a drink – coffee with a little cream or if you need to, have a low carb snack like a couple of tbsps of full fat natural yogurt and a few berries, or a hard boiled egg – eat slowly and mindfully. The hunger will pass. Be sure to hydrate well, as this is very important.
    B) Count calories AND carbs, get in the habit of reading nutritional panels on ALL food stuffs and when you weigh and measure your portion of ANYTHING, calculate both the calories and carbs and record both – there are apps like MyFitnessPal and others, that can help with this. Initially aim to get your daily carb intake down around 50g and see how that goes, then re-evaluate before pushing them a bit lower if need be. Once your are in ketosis and so burning fat rather than carbs, the speed of your weight loss will probably increase.
    C) I personally don’t tend to plan a whole week’s menu at a time, but there are many who do and I’m sure someone will offer an insight to what one of their typical weekly menus looks like.
    D) I measure my ketone levels with a cheap breathalyser, which can be bought on Amazon. JGwen is our ‘resident’ expert on using these and I’m sure she’ll offer advise if required. In early stages you can use ketone urine sticks, to indicate if you are in ketosis.
Hope something above is of help. I’m sure others will offer insight and if you have further questions, shout out. Best wishes to you, you’ll be at your target weight before you know it.

Tagiben, hopefully you can be guided here. First of all you say you didn’t know it was a low carb diet. The original BSD is definitely a low carb diet and by that Dr. M means no white starchy carbs. So no bread, potatoes, wheat products, rice, pasta, sugar or processed foods. Between pages 31 and 37 he talks about what happens inside the body when you eat those types of carbs and the short answer is they turn into glucose (sugar) and increase the insulin response which has an effect of fat storage. On page 131 of the original BSD book he states ‘there are some carbs in the menus provided – but the right sort.’ He includes mention of eating oats and even brown rice but is small quantities. I personally would never touch brown rice, bread, pasta at all as it is still high in carbs. One thing you should notice is that if you are sticking to 800 calories there is no space for these carbs as they are very high in calories. There are carbs in most foods except for meat, some plant and some dairy. Carbs from other grown below ground root foods are also high in carbs (see dietdoctor.com for a visual illustration). The Fast 800 book also talks about carbs but less so as that book is not so concerned with blood sugar control. However, there are several mention of the damage carbs do including what I said above about glucose levels in several sections of the book (see pages 19-23, 24-25, 30 and also 33).

You ask what you should do if you are hungry on the 800 calories. First of all you dont have to jump straight into 800 but it is so important to cut out those above mentioned carbs as they are what drive and increase your hunger. Once your body has got used to going without them you will not feel so hungry. You should also be eating some good fats like cooking with rapeseed oil, using Olive Oil in dressings, eat oily fish like mackerel or salmon, or, if like me you hate fish include nuts and seeds and avocados. These fats also help keep you feeling full longer Drink plenty of water, we often mistake hunger for thirst. Forget about ketosis for now, that is like learning to do handstands on a bike before you have learnt how to ride.

There are menu plans in the back of the book and, although not many people use them, I found them helpful in the beginning. Use your own calculating methods like Fat Secret as some of the recipes are a bit out on calories but dont worry too much at this stage. Just accept that the important principle of losing weight fast is to cut the carbs – most of us do around 50g daily some as low as 20g. There is an awful lot to take in but I think you should go back and re-read at least the Blood Sugar Diet book to get a better grasp of the principles. I have notices quite a few people doing the Fast800 saying they still eat carbs but they are also saying they are not losing weight as quickly as promised. There is a correlation and I know Dr.M talks about carbs less in Fast800 except if you read the section on the Very Fast 800. Hope this helps. I am sure you will be bombarded with more advice and there have been some very good threads giving a whole list of the basic principles. Maybe someone out there can quote one for Tagiben to look at.

Is everyone Ok ? I have been busy entertaining a little girl who is with us for a few days . A bit like your new puppy caronl !!

I went back to aqua gym last night which was fab . It was good to be moving freely again. I felt fine but I was a bit naughty as my check up with the surgeon isn’t until Monday ! It is just so hot and we haven’t got our own pool so I needed a plan B !! I hope you cope with your class articfox and as always best of luck with the flat sale. However frustrating it seems, it will happen.

There is talk of confusion between BSD and Fast 800 on the forum ?? I think we all have to find our own way . I have read and read and have learnt loads along the way ….with some fasting now and again but very much
focusing on achieving a healthy attitude towards food .

As you know I am a bit ‘hard core’ as I don’t allow carbage of any sort in my life 😉 and I am not entertaining the idea of including bread or any other ‘white stuff’ at any time when I reach an acceptable target weight. I have a very different attitude to food …an absolute turn around for me as I was most certainly a sugar addict. It takes time to crack the cravings but it does happpen .It’s true that my holidays don’t mean any change in my food choices..I adapt and adjust according to my pretty inflexible needs 🙂 ..not being smug ( please believe that !). I have achieved a peaceful serenity around food which I am not going to mess up !

I hope any new members here can be encouraged by SG and SunnyB’s posts which explain the principles very clearly.
Happy birthday to our other sunshine girl !!

I hope noone is put off by any perceived confusion. Just keep posting and asking the questions. It took me some time to work things out from my initial reading of Michael Mosley’s books …but it certainly didn’t stop there. MM was just the starting point for me.

    Keep cool everyone ! xx

    Hi all
I’ve been lurking for quite a few weeks until I knew I was serious this time. So many times since 2016 when I lost just over 50 lbs have I started and stopped two weeks later, but all going well this time, the heat helps as I don’t want to eat much hehe
Looking forward to getting to know you all as we journey together. My aim this week is to loose 4 lbs as I have a lot to loose.
So I will join you on your Tuesday weigh day. my longer target is 2 stone in the next eight weeks.
    💃💃💃 jan

Hi alliecat, I plan to avoid huge amounts of potatoes, rice, pasta… I have coeliacs so normally avoid bread anyway as gluten free stuff tastes terrible. Breakfast will likely be eggs, avocado, smoked salmon, tomatoes… Lunch will be soup or a salad and dinner will hopefully be meat/fish with veggies/salad and a small portion of potatoes/pasta. I’ll likely have a small glass of red wine most nights with dinner and I’ll not lie, I will have a few pieces of cake across the 10 days 😀 I’m not insulin resistant, I’ve just become a carb addict due to lack of sleep from breastfeeding and co-sleeping, biscuits are my nemisis!!! When I was pregnant I had gestational diabetes and I was so sensitive to carbs that by the third trimester of my pregnancy I was on a low carb diet, metformin and insulin twice a day so I feel the pain of those of you who are having to really watch their carb intake.

Tagiben, I plan to have exactly the same breakfast: boiled egg, mushrooms and eggs with garlic, rosemary, salt and pepper. Lunch: cauliflower cheese soup, raw carrot and celery sticks and a pear. I have 1 square of 90% chocolate and 100ml of full fat milk for in decaff coffee. This leaves about 320(ish) kcals for dinner. I’m only on day 3 and so far I’ve had roast chicken breast with roast veggies and 80g of new potatoes, creamy garlicky chicken with veggies and 80g new potatotes and diet cola chicken stir-fry with slim noodles. Tomorrow we’ll have a healthy fry up, Friday will be a Lo-dough pizza and salad, Saturday will be fajitas using lo-dough as a wrap and Sunday will be roast chicken, veggies and a tiny portion of roast potatoes. Most of the recipes are from pinch of nom recipe book. Good luck.

Today’s been good, I’ve barely been hungry, I’ve enjoyed the food, I don’t feel any more tired than normal, headache has definitely gone and I’ve lost 5lbs so far 🙂 only 30 days until our first holiday!!!

    Hi Wendleg
Yes I joined the BSD programme right in its infancy, and lost 52 lbs, there was an amazing gang in the hello thread and it was so funny and very supportive, couldn’t have done the 52lbs without them.
The forums are so supportive and very important. But unfortunately over time due to many factors I put the weight very slowly back on.
But I’m on it now and the carb monster has departed with my monster appetite thank goodness.
Hope we all have a good week

Welcome back Jan, I think I remember you from before. I am in a similar situation, although I didn’t lose as much as you previously, I did lose more than 10kg. It came back on after an accident last year, and I have been struggling to lose it again. I have been slipping up on getting enought sleep again and that is leading to eating too much/the wrong things again. Tomorrow is a new day and I will try again. I have been retaining water this week which has made things a bit demoralizing. 1.5kg up yesterday morning and in spite of practically non-stop peeing yesterday and overnight (I was up twice in the night which never normally happens for me!), I was only down 0.6kg this morning.
Wendy, I worked hard in the aqua jogging class. I am a little sore today, particularly through my neck and shoulders and my feet keep cramping up. I’m not sure it will be a long term place for me to be, but maybe alright as a way to get started again. The others in the class don’t lend a nice environment, which is really too bad. They seem to only want to socialize and pretend to exercise, all the while complaining that the water is too cold and the instructor is mean and making excuses for why they can’t work hard. When I was in bootcamp, the instructor used to say to people who were wondering if they would be up to joining the class that the only difference between our group and her other classes she taught was that when she told us to do something, we just went ahead and did it. There was no whinging or complaining. We just got to work and did our best. I guess we were a bit of a unique group in that regard, so that experience combined with my former national level sport training means I find coping with the complainers a bit annoying. I discovered that there is a masters swim club in the town I am moving to, so if my ears can handle it eventually, I will enjoy that.
I very nearly got my bicycle out tonight as it was a nice evening for a ride, but I was very tired today so in the end I had a nap before making dinner. What a luxury! Before I moved my horse, even if I was dead tired I would have to drag my weary bones all the way to see him and walk him his 2+miles anyway. I’m hoping the chance to rest up will start to relieve some of my stress and maybe even help with the weight loss. As I said, I didn’t have such a good day today, but I am hoping to have a better day tomorrow. I made cauliflower nachos again and will have some left over to take for lunch tomorrow. I have another harvest of salad greens from my balcony ready to be eaten too.

Welcome back Jan! Think we have both been in the same place a few times. I have to agree that it’s so much harder starting over again and it really is hard to summon up the same level of motivation. BUT, the fact is ….. we are still here and still trying! Hope you have a good journey this time around.

Arcticfox I’ve been using a meditation app and there are sections on getting to sleep and getting back to sleep when you wake in the night. My problem was waking in the night. I have to say it’s really helped me to go back to sleep when I wake, usually within five minutes. Kazz recommended a lavender pillow spray to get to sleep and I’ve used Deep Sleep pillow spray. I think lots of us have sleep problems one way or another. Hope you manage to get sorted.

Welcome back Greenjanet! I do remember you from before and it is great to have you join the forums again!
I’m sorry you have struggled with maintenance but I always just say, start again! It’s never too late or too overwhelming to just start again. Any day you are eating BSD-friendly foods is a day you are care-taking your health and body.
I remember you had a big construction project, with a barn-to-house remodel — that must be done by now — are you pleased with the result?
Well, you know the drill! Best wishes as you move forward!

    Hi California girl
You’ve got a good memory unfortunately our project is a four year one 😱 as it’s just my husband and me and he’s 63 and I’m 62 we are both fit but still not as fast as we was when we was 20
The site is restoration of a large 2 storey 17 th century barn and single storey very long 19 century barn then a 25 foot long new barn to connect the 2. It will then be two homes or a holiday let and our home.
We started on Valentine’s Day 2016 but because it’s in a conservation area and is an environmental building it takes much longer than the norm, just the French drainage system took almost 3 months to dig out and get sorted. That then creates more work because you’ve dug up an area 45x 50 ft.
Ironically I’ve only put on weight since I’ve moved here. But on it now and almost a stone gone so feeling great 💃💃💃

It’s such a relief to be back in control again. From experience of meditating at least twice a day for many years it’s the way forward to quieten down your mind so you can sleep well. So keep it up it will help 🙋 jan
