I am a 67 year old male who has suffered from type 2 diabetes for about 15years. I started taking metformin 12 years ago after unsuccessfully trying to control it by diet finally finishing up on insulin 10 years ago.
My weight has fluctuated over the years after trying various diets from 18 stone 10lbs (253 lbs) to 16 stones(224lbs) but it averaged out at about 17stone 6lbs.
After seeing a tv programme explaining how it would be possible to help or even reverse diabetes hosted by Professor Taylor I decided to try the 8 week blood sugar diet. I started the diet mid January and finished mid March with excellent results.
    I weighed 17 stones 2 lbs when i started with a waist size of 44 1/2 inches after 8 weeks I had lost 2 1/2 stones
With a waist of 40 inches . I have continued to eat healthily following a Mediterranean type diet and now weigh 13 stones 9 lbs and a waist of 38 inches.
After taking 26 units twice daily of insulin and Lixienitide I have slowly reduced and now stopped these drugs altogether I now only take metformin I have been under the supervision of a specialist diabetic nurse who has been amazed by the results. I now feel fitter than everand hope my story helps anyone reading this

Frank, Well done! heartiest congratulations – you will be one of many but that is not to underestimate your personal triumph. This stuff is so simple but really works in spite of certain of the professional advice. I am sure others will join me in their own words but have a great life, we are both 63 here but were not fully diabetic so cannot claim such a high success as yourself, but we are much better now.

Frank, congratulations! Those results are so inspiring. I bet you are so proud of yourself 🙂
The diabetes nurse who witnessed your success will be recommending the BSD to others no doubt. So you’ll indirectly responsible for other people reversing their diabetes too 🙂

    Well done Frank.
Not only is your story going to inspire others on the forum but you seem to have convinced a medical professional that low carb really is the way to go for T2D sufferers
That one little thing could make a massive difference to countless others if she starts recommending it to her other patients.
I too have a very supportive medical team at the GP surgery and I’m so glad after reading some of the horror stories posted by others.

What an inspiration you are, Frank! I’ve just finished my 3rd week and have to say that your story and ones like this that I’ve read on these forums are what keeps me motivated. Well done, sir.

Frank that is incredible, whilst the diet makes this achievable, you still have to put in the work and have the willpower to push on and achieve such spectacular results. I am 4 weeks in and have lost 16lb, I am hoping to lose a similar amount in the next four weeks and another 16lb after the full blown diet to get where I want to be. My big motivator is doing this with my wife who has T2 diabetes and is on insulin, she has been steadily reducing her insulin as her levels have dropped, though still on the same level of Victoza and Metformin. Our first goal is to get off injecting insulin (and off the DVLA 3 year driving licence) then maintain the same principals to see if the others can eventually go in the bin. The BBC 2 programme “Fixing dad” was inspirational for anyone affected by T2 diabetes who wants to try and reverse it, if you missed it get it on catch up. Again well done.
