I am in the same boat with making lots of appointments, S-G. It’s like a part-time job, isn’t it? And somewhat never-ending. Best wishes on good A1c results, and also on finding that perfect pair of jeans.

I agree with you about the rogue posts. It makes the site seem much less safe and comfortable, as well as just being annoying. Thanks for reporting them. By the time I see them, they’ve usually been reported already. When you report them, do you ever get a response? It seems like if they’re going to keep this website open, they’d have someone whose job it was to monitor it.

Good morning everyone & I hope that you will all keep posting your news & progress 🤞🤞I have weighed & lost one of the two pounds I gained from last weekend when away. My knee is much more painful again & I know that I must lose weight to improve my situation & I am going to try to start again tomorrow & focus on losing some meaningful weight throughout March.
I hope you all have a good week.

Hi all, yes Becca it is like a job but even more so that I have to do it all in French. Think I have now arranged everything even in June when we go to the cardiologist for both our heart check ups.

Yes, I do often get a response with ‘thank you for reporting’ and sometimes get a note saying something about the post, especially if I have made an amusing comment like to one advertising Viagra. Wont say what came back 🙂

Well my weight is up and down again, I really want to be under 74kgs before I see the doctor on 16th, so still got time. Did get some skinny jeans but had to go up a size (from 44 to 46) but better to be comfortable.

Had a drink last night but first one in 3 weeks, I just get fed up of always being on a diet. Not just for a few weeks to lose weight but for the rest of my life for the diabetes. Something has to give sometime.

Hope you have all had a good weekend, see you next week – tomorrow.

Hello. Just popping in because I realise we are on the last stretch of this three month thread. So far I’ve really done no more than maintain. What can I say?

March feels brighter especially as we now have some sunshine instead of the constant rain of the last few months.

So I’m just carrying on as I have done in the recent past. If I lose fine if not fine. I just need to stay healthy. I really don’t eat much ‘rubbish’ but do have the odd days when I want to ‘eat’!

Anyway, hope everyone is achieving the goals set, if not then make them more realistic. We have to live!

    Just be healthy!

Weighed today and I have still lost 7lbs. Not good enough with less than 2 weeks to go. Tomorrow I will be home alone so I will take the opportunity to try on all my dresses – I think one needs the hem turning up. If they are too tight I have a black lace bolero jacket to come the arms, back and shoulders. I also have a beautiful white silk scarf/stole which I can drape over my shoulders and tie at the front. Just hope I can still get into them as I was 7lbs heavier when I bought them.

Talking about this particular thread coming to an end at the end of March and needing a new one setting up for April, May and June, I am sorry but I wont be here after the 18th March so I hope someone else will step in, just to set it going. If not then it goes. Sorry.

You will be missed, Sunshine Girl. I do understand since you have perhaps outgrown this forum, and it seems like the site is dwindling down and being infiltrated with spam posts. I also have been debating about staying involved, since my weight loss efforts have been less than consistent, and definitely have not at the 800-calorie level, but I do love the feeling of “checking in.”

I’m also preparing for a doctor visit, Sunshine, which will happen on March 17, so trying to get weight down for that, although I will still be obese regardless. Then on March 20 I’ll be gone for a week on the desert trip with my daughter and granddaughter.

My daughter turned 40 last month and because of that has been of a mind to start getting all kinds of first-time health screenings – mammogram, colonoscopy, lab work, nutrition counseling, etc. She unfortunately just got word today that she needs to return for a secondary mammogram and perhaps even an ultrasound. Apparently this is not uncommon and just a way to get a clearer view and solid baseline, but that doesn’t make a person feel any less anxious. She won’t be having that until after our trip, so hope she’ll be able to have a good time in spite of that hanging over her head. As her mom, I’m of course anxious, too, and reminded that I need to get my own mammogram scheduled.

Thank you for all of your support, encouragement & very useful guidance & information S-G throughout the time this & previous monthly threads have been going you are very inspiring & will be much missed. As Becca says it would be lovely if the thread could keep going after you leave & unfortunately I don’t know how to do this. I hope S-G that all your future endeavours go well & in particular your move back to the UK 😍
I have weighed today & lost 0.75lb after getting back on track & being more focused for the last five days. I’m sure that the better weather has certainly lifted my mood & helped my focus plus feeling less hungry now.
Good luck everyone for next week 🍀🤞🤞

Hey there, I am not going anywhere, except on holiday and wont be around to set up the new thread. I am sure most of you know I am going on a cruise and will be away for nearly 4 weeks. I just need someone to set up the new thread. Nice to get the accolades, it is like hearing what is said at my funeral before I am actually dead.

Margaret it is easy to start a thread, you just go up to Forums, click again on The Forums and it gives a list of all the subjects like Welcome to the BSD, scroll to the bottom of that sections where it says Browse all topics/start a new topic, click on start a new topic and it brings up a blank you just type in a new title like ‘April through June, join us soon’ go to The Content box and say a few words of introduction. I hope someone manages to do that for me while I am away.

Weight dropping again so determined to keep going and get to at least a 9lb loss.

    Have a great weekend.

Hi. Weird but I only seem to get message when Margaret posts. So I was shocked to see her wishing you well in the future s-g!
Margaret if you’d like to set up a new thread then great but I’m here until the end of April and would be happy to set up a new thread, haven’t done one for ages now. Just let me know.

Becca please stay involved. It’s the times when you are ‘less consistent’ that you really need to have some encouragement. I know it can sometimes be hard when all around you seem to be doing well but you are just feel like you’re only just keeping your head above water…. that’s the time to hang on in there. Even if you don’t post don’t give up otherwise everything suddenly starts going south before you realise!

Hope everyone has a good week.

Ahhhh, sorry I misunderstood, Sunshine, but very happy to be wrong in this instance! And Verano, thanks for your kind words of support today as well as all of you for the ongoing support, and I will keep checking in and keep making an effort! I do get annoyed with myself for all the up-and-down, but the overall trend continues downward and that is the important thing.

Wendy, great job on seeing the scale go down this week! And Tulip, I just want to reach through the screen and give you a big hug of support for all that you are dealing with.

Not sure how it is in the various places you all live, but we start daylight savings time tomorrow night, which means the clocks move forward one hour until they get put back again in the fall. The result of this is that it stays lighter later in the evening, which I LOVE, since I’m more of a night person than a morning person. But I feel for all those who will find it more difficult to get up to more darkness in the mornings.

    Happy almost spring!

Stress and exhaustion have been huge factors in delaying me getting back on the WOE….I’m so glad to be back on track now, as although it takes effort and planning, the upshot is much more physical and mental energy to put into all the other things too 🙂
UK here, I believe are clocks aren’t going forward until the last Sunday in March….?

Hi all, Becca I think you should stay with the site despite all the trolls. As soon as you think you have got this and you leave you have no reason to stay safe, no one to discuss this with, not many people understand the low carb and calorie way of life and they soon get sick of hearing about it. Take my word, even when we go on holiday hubby always says dont talk about the diet. But it is inevitable when people at the table see me going without bread or rice or potatoes, they usually ask me, and hubby rolls his eyes. But we are here and you can tell us anything just for someone who understands you.

I bought a little black lace bolero to go over my dress which shows my back fat. Anyway, yesterday I took a couple of inches off the hem and while trying it on thought I would try it with the bolero, could I hell as like find it. Even hubby went through all my drawers and looked under the bed, everywhere. Then last night I went to bed and had a dream that I found it and it was in a white Amazon bag with a little plastic zip. So I asked hubby to take another look, only this time looking for a white bag not a black item. He looked everywhere again. I went into my leisurewear drawer (swimming costumes, yoga pants etc) and there it was. The power of dreams.

Monday tomorrow and our week is starting to fill up with nurse for blood, car service and cleaner coming and it is getting near to our leaving. I dont want to start packing until after our viewing as I dont want suitcases and stuff strewn about. It is on the16th so I will have 3 days to get packed up. So have a good week everyone, see you tomorrow if I have anything to report.

SG: I think that’s great advice, about staying on the forum- absolutely right, I feel like people start to think we are obsessive or something if we go on too much about calories- I’m most likely to tell other people I am eating a healthy mediterranean diet and mention Michael Mosley as my guru but I don’t go into more detail unless they’re really interested.
    Also, great dream!

I’m down to minimal calories and carbs for the next 12 days as I prepare for getting weighed at the doctor’s office and possibly getting into a swimsuit on my trip! Looking forward to the trip, but hoping I won’t put too much weight back on.

Hi all, I am well and truly fed up, scales this morning show me up from 74.2 to 75.2. Not a morsel has passed my lips that shouldnt have. Not quite managing TRE as I am looking for a snack in the evenings but it is usually meat or chicken. Anyway, I am fasting tonight as the nurse will be here first thing in the morning for blood letting 🙂 So no food after 8pm.

Finally started my packing. All seems a bit over the top but I have 4 long dresses, 2 dressy jump suits and 2 short dresses, then 2 dress trousers. That is 10 nights so 2 more but I think it will be the trousers again with different tops. Then on the last night you just wear what you are leaving the ship in as you have to have your bags outside your cabin by 10 pm the night before. Exhausted just thinking about it. Luckily I have a packing list that I can follow.

Will let you know my results tomorrow afternoon, they usually dont take much longer than 4 hours but nurse has to drop them off at the lab so that depends how long she waits to take them.

    Bye for now.

Results are in and I am back down in the 6’s but only just (6.9), that is down from 7.3. Cholesterol is very low at 2.45 and I am going to ask doctor to reduce the amount of statins I am on as I also suffer from really bad cramps at night. Triglycerides is really low so just proves I dont drink much alcohol or eat processed foods.

Weight has dropped back down but I am past worrying. Fitting into all my dresses for the holiday although I by my natural instinct will not be diving into cakes and still sticking to low carb. Things are a bit mad now with everything happening at once, nurse and bloods, car service, cleaner on Friday, house viewing Monday followed by doctor in the afternoon, hairdresser on Wednesday, sitter arrives Thursday, leave for holiday Friday. Phew I am exhausted thinking about it all. But I have nearly finished my packing.

    Have a good week everyone.

    Hi everyone,
Sorry I have been absent for most of the ‘new year’. I haven’t caught up with all your posts… so many to read, I just hope you are all ok and keeping on!

I have been working through a cancer scare since mid January and finally have had biopsy taken… non cancerous! 😅 Such a relief!
During this time I have not been watching my diet carefully, but have kept to the same weight as I started the year. (5.5 stone less than when I began in 2024 but 1/2 stone heavier than my lightest in 2025)
    Blood sugar has kept stable!

There is no doubt that I am finding it difficult to get going again on losing weight & being mindful of what I am eating & drinking every day because it all feels such a faff!! Tomorrow I will be going to a Mothers Day family gathering at my eldest sons house seeing all three grandchildren & we will be eating pizza & drinking wine so a diet exclusion day.
Happy Mothers Day for tomorrow 💐🥂🍷

Got the doctor tomorrow so had hoped to be less than 74kgs which is what I was when I last saw him, now 74.7kgs. Just waiting now to get the viewing over tomorrow morning then I can get on with more packing.

Hi all, leaving on Friday morning so this might be my last post as still a lot to do. The viewing went well and it is between 2 houses. However, they are spending a week in France so have lots of other houses to see. Unfortunately, they want a second viewing while we are away. I am lucky enough to have a housesitter who is happy to keep the house clean and vacate when any viewings occur, plus I have a lovely agent who said she will come in before the viewing to check everything is as it should be. She said she would even do a deep clean if she had to. I am sure she would. Just want it to be super tidy. Just a thought, when we were selling up in the UK 21 years ago we had a viewing while we were on holiday in France – a reversal of roles – and that was the viewing that sold our house. Fingers crossed.

Doctors visit went as well as expected because it wasnt my doctor. A young man who didnt even know why I was there. He was happy with my results, I got him to decreases my statins due to cramps, and he didnt bother to take BP or weigh me. So I got away with not having lost anything since last visit. However, being stressed I was going to have a few drinks last night but didnt and stayed away from snacks (roast pork from Sunday) and I have lost a kilo. My total loss for this season is 8lbs and I am not finished yet. Still got 3 days to go.

It has come to the time to say I will not be around when this thread comes to an end and I hope someone will step in with just a few words and a new title. It is not difficult. Otherwise I will come back and find a very lonely place.

Have a good Spring and welcome to the Summer months. See you in 4 weeks.

S-g I’ve agreed to step in and set up the next thread so ‘WE WILL SURVIVE’! Thought the title you suggested will be fine unless anybody comes up with something spectacular……
    suggestions please!

S-g 2nd viewings are good. You usually get a ‘feel’ for a place first time round and if it’s negative no second viewing, so good luck. Strangely enough we sold our last home when we were away. The viewers viewed on Christmas Eve!!!!! They went back on NYE and made an acceptable offer. They always say you can’t sell a property around Christmas but you know, when you see a property you want it really doesn’t matter! Best of luck with the sale.

S-g glad your appointment with the doctor went well. I’m being really naughty. I got a message from my doctor to have blood tests a few weeks ago but haven’t! Maybe I will soon,

Pootle hello again. So sorry to hear of your ‘worry’ but so pleased it was unfounded. The worry with these things can so knock you you can’t really concentrate on anything but the ‘outcome’. Glad yours is good.

Just a quick note to s-g and Margaret …. my scales stayed the same today too. Such is life! Next week is a new week ….. let’s work a bit harder!

Happy holidays s-g see you next month. Enjoy!

Verano, I think the title for the next thread is very apt.
I am, once again, struggling to lose the excess weight I gained at Christmas with the carb cravings still having a major hold on me! I can go all day being very good then ruin it all and in the evening by picking at all the wrong things!
The worry of the past 2+ months, whilst it has eased, has had an unwelcome effect on my resolve! I just have to find the motivation to knuckle down and get ‘carb control’ again. Not so easy now my husband has filled the kitchen cupboards with very tempting treats!
Just hope I haven’t pushed myself back into diabetes!
    Onward..

Think we have our wires crossed a little! When I said ‘we will survive’ I was talking about the three monthly thread! S-g suggested ‘April thru June: join us soon’ . Maybe we can combine the two …. any ideas?
    A couple I have
April thru June: our time to bloom.
April thru June: survival is out tune.

We have 12 days of this month left so let’s make them ‘count’.

The first three months of this challenge, over winter, have seen me literally just ‘paddling water’. No gains but no losses to speak of. I find that the warmer months lift my spirits and also the need to wear ‘summer dresses’ definitely helps me to focus more! So yes, we need to ‘focus’ and maybe find specific, but achievable, goals for the coming months.

‘Achievable’. I think that is the real ‘base’ from which we need to start. Ok. I’d love to lose a stone in a week, who wouldn’t!!! … not ‘achievable’! We have to be realistic. One or two pounds a week is probably realistic. So maybe we should all set some goals for the coming months.

I also think that we have to remember to ‘live’ . Yes be low carb or whatever but also enjoy that birthday or wedding or other celebration just don’t go OTT. I must admit, although it’s taken me a long time, I can now just have one, or maybe two, spoonfuls of a dessert and not polish the lot off!

We also have to ‘live’ so we need to be ‘realistic’. It’s a balancing act. Most importantly health, rather than the number on the scale, is the key!

Verano, this was a very well-written and reassuring post. I have kept off some of what I lost, but not all. I’m with you on wanting to learn the art of a more rational, level approach to it all.

I’ll be leaving for the Arizona desert tomorrow for a week with my daughter and granddaughter. No doubt I’ll be eating less healthfully than I should, given what’s available in all those roadside diners. But I plan to just do my best, enjoy the trip, get in a swimming pool for the first time in decades, and then come home with a renewed spirit, ready for a fresh start.

Have a good week, everyone, and I’ll see you at the end of this month. Here’s to springtime!

Thank you for asking Verano & my knee is still painful rising after sitting, after standing long whilst food prep in the kitchen, using stairs & in the evening & then in bed. I am back playing short mat bowls & I am walking now without using my stick but still carry it with me just in case of stumbling. I think the suture abscesses plus a UTI soon after surgery then all my side effects taking antibiotics for eight weeks really has slowed up my recovery & knee flexibility and I am still taking strong pain & nerve pain medication before bed. However I am slowly improving but it’s very frustrating & it would be lovely to have no pain 🤞🤞. Sorry for the saga but it has also affected my mobility & that is why plus poor motivation to concentrate on dieting why I have gained nearly one stone since my surgery last June. I know that I must address this because of both of my knees having to carry this extra weight & my left knee is deteriorating which is rather depressing so when I have a review next September I will be told that I need another knee replacement 🙁. I have a river cruise in June to look forward to & would like to lose weight before this to be able to wear all my summer clothes & attractive dresses plus being able to walk further on the various visits 😀. I need a good kick up my derrière to get my dieting motivation back 😂
I am off to play short mat bowls this morning & to have my hair trimmed this afternoon 😀
    Keep on going everyone 🤞🤞🍀🍀

Hi Margaret sorry to hear you still need strong painkillers but hopefully as the weather warms up you will be able to do more outside which I think always lifts the mood. I know only too well how mobility can lead to low mood and it makes everything just that much more difficult. As you say you have a river cruise to look forward to so concentrate on that and don’t worry about your other knee until September! I know that’s sometimes easier said that done!

We were invited out for lunch yesterday and I was faced with plates of ginger cake, little dainty slices of cheese cake and strawberry scones all of which I love. I didn’t eat any! Funny how tastes/willpower can change. I’m no angel and certainly not stoic but the cakes just didn’t appeal to me yesterday!

Anyway, hope anyone that’s still reading this thread is doing well. New month just around the corner. Love ‘new’ anything always makes me feel like I have a new ‘beginning’.

    Good afternoon!

I’ve just looked back through this three month thread and we seem to be a group of 6 or 7 with the odd post from others here and there.

The first quarter of the year is coming to an end and I’m wondering who would like to continue with the three month thread ?
Would anybody like to go back to a monthly thread ?
    Or even a weekly one?
Do these threads help at all ?
Do you find other people’s losses encouraging or demotivating?
Do you have any suggestions for making the thread more interesting/useful/encouraging?

    All thoughts really appreciated.

In the meantime…. THE CLOCKS SPRING FORWARD tonight so let’s enjoy the longer days and let them help us enjoy ‘healthy’ food more!

Hi Margaret I feel a bit like you in that I’m not really finding the 3 month timescale very helpful.
Just thinking of maybe setting up a one month thread for April. I’m away in May so maybe sunshine-girl might feel like doing May. She has been left very much ‘holding the baby’ without a great deal of support really and has done an amazing job to keep this thread going.
Might be better if we can do some sort of rota with others too, all taking turns to host a month???

So for a title for April…. fourth month of the year, spring is here, summer just around the corner, just 30 days, holidays on the horizon, sunshine and summer clothes, looking better, feeling better, eating salads, lovely new fruits…. lots of things that could be incorporated in our new month.
I’m thinking , will be back soon, but all suggestions really welcome …. please post here !

Hi Verano and everyone else, sorry I have not posted much, but I do read every message that is posted, I find them all very interesting, informative and encouraging, I feel a bit of an outsider as you have all been at this for so long that I feel if I suddenly post things and make comments on others posts that I’m intruding, if you know what I mean, but I do find the thread very useful and would love for it to continue in any shape or form, maybe I will be brave and contribute more, I just feel like you all know everything so I dont have much useful info to share. Anyway enjoying the start of spring with the extra hour today, got lots of jobs done, looking forward to family Easter time, speaking of which how do people get around Easter, do you allow yourself a little egg or a hot cross bun, just trying to plan my strategy 😉, hope you all have a good week

Hi Newbie2026 never ever, ever feel that you are an ‘outsider’. I’m sorry if you have felt like that. We all have something to contribute to each other and newcomers often the most. You have you ‘new enthusiasm’ to share which rubs of on all of us. You can also remind us of things we may well have forgotten that are really useful. Please comment whenever you feel like and please feel welcome. We all share a common goal.

As to Easter I guess that’s very much a personal thing. I see you have T2 so probably best to stay away from the ‘buns’ and all the other high carb foods but maybe a small dark chocolate egg, 70% plus, will be ok. Depends on whether you can just stay at one! If there is going to be too much temptation then could be best not to have any. We’re all different.

Look forward to hearing from you !

    Good evening.

Tomorrow is the last day of this three month thread. I think the general consensus is a monthly thread might be better next. Please speak up if you disagree or have any other thoughts.

So based on that assumption I’m proposing a one month thread, if that’s acceptable to everyone else, to start on Wednesday. My thoughts for a title are ……

One Month at a time: meet your goal.
    : exceed your goal.
    : excel!!
April: our spring into summer with gusto month.
    …???

Sorry out of ideas at this moment …. please add all your motivational ideas!
I’ll set up a new thread tomorrow to run through April

Good evening all, please no-one made me feel like an outsider, just a personal feeling that I didnt want to butt in and intrude, but will try to contribute more and get to know you all. I had a bit of a rough day Friday and felt sorry for myself for lack of food choices, 3 months of cauliflower rice almost every day was taking it’s toll, but I had a word with myself that at least I have food, and I shouldn’t be so ungrateful, so much so that that nights dinner did infact consist of cauliflower rice! I’m not sure if I’m doing the right thing, but I’ve done 8 weeks of 800 calories and found it not sustainable with the running that I do, so I have increased it to a max of 1200 meaning I have more energy and enjoy my runs and i’m not tempted by the naughty things, i’m still losing weight slowly and i’m happy with that, for me its got to be about balance. Please tell me if i’m doing the wrong things, I try on a couple of the days to have lower calories a bit like the 5:2.
A small dark chocolate egg sounds like a good idea, i’m quite restrained if it means I get a treat over more days.
I’m sorry but I’m not very good with “catchy” titles for the new group, but I like just “one month at a time”.
Anyway another day tomorrow to give it a go, night all
