It’s four weeks on Saturday. A lot can happen in four weeks Tokyo, can’t it? My first four weeks I lost 25lbs and the second I lost 10.5lbs (that was with one stay the same week). I could be down another dress size by then if I’m good!

I’ve done sod all but sit here feeling sorry for myself whilst everyone else sleeps lol. I’ve even only had one coffee because I can’t be bothered moving…

Oh me too Smp, I am lethal, screen shots, files of word documents with recipes copied and pasted from the last 13 years and cook books… jeez. If I lived to be 300 and cooked one recipe a day I’d never go through them. Good thing about hoarding on a computer is you don’t have to worry about space though! The chocolate muffins were lovely, chocolatey but not too sweet, I used this recipe http://myheartbeets.com/paleo-chocolate-cake/ and made fairy cakes with them. Lovely warmed with a scoop of caramel or mint Oppo on. I just made the cake and not the ganache, but if I was to make a cake for an occasion I would do it as the original recipe.

Speaking of Oppo, are you still around Runforfun?

The Chicken and Chorizo stew is a Knorr recipe, I had chicken breast that I’d frozen in a pack and needed to make two meals out of it last night. I have done a blog post with the NI etc that I’ll post when I’ve dished it up tonight. http://www.knorr.co.uk/recipes/detail/8513/1/chicken-and-chorizo-stew

Mayo is deceptive, how little you actually get. And apparently a tablespoon doesn’t mean a heaped one hahahaha

    Hi all
I’ve just started and on day 5 I’ve lost 8 lbs already with another 3 stone (42 lbs) to go. I’m diabetic on metformin and a statin for high cholesterol and high blood pressure and lanzoprazole for my stomach to cope with it all and an anti depressant so I can cope with it all lol! I’ve been reading all your posts and find it really encouraging. Finally decided to join the conversation after sitting in the sidelines feeling shy!
So hello from Dorset in the UK. Looking forward to the journey!

    Hi

left home at 6.30am yesterday, and got back at about 1 am in the morning, so haven’t read thru to catch up on threads – BUT 26,498 steps (including the 100 or so walking from the car after the pedometer had shuffled into today). Have now done the calculations and realised that half a mile is 1,006 steps (my avg stride length is 80cm). No idea why I hadn’t realised that before!
So about 13.5 miles. Included about 12 miles on a walk with a Hertfordshire walking group – and Orchid – which was great. Hi Orchid!

I left so early to avoid central London morning traffic – had breakfast at a branch of Greggs – OK but odd! (also v cheap, and better than the cafe next door where every breakfast option seemed to include chips or hash browns).
Bacon and Omelette on the menu turned out to be slivers of pre-cooked omelette and some bacon served in a roll or baguette – I asked for it without bread, but they don’t have plates, so that didn’t really work! I ate about 1/4 of the rather tasteless roll, but the bacon and egg were good.

I just worked through a mammoth load of emails to find one from the Nordic walking coach – she has decided to cancel the training course that was supposed to start tomorrow, which is frustrating.
Another one has got back to me, so I guess that gives me time to try someone else – she doesn’t have any courses starting until September either, but might be a bit less flaky than the first one.

I am obsessed with food Smp and therefore unfortunately, constantly on a ‘diet’ of some sort. I think this is the one for me for life (not 800 calories obvs, but this way of eating, no crap carbs apart from holidays 😉 ) I’m just trying to adapt it to what I know will make my life easier. A legal-er cake here and there and now my bread. Turnip wedges. I’m resourceful if nowt else haha.

Brilliant that you’ll have support! Does she live with you? Either way, great having someone in the flesh to talk to, as brilliant as the forum is. Plus it’s nice to see your own impact on a person you know. My husband has just come downstairs in his boxer shorts, which is significant as he has his morning routine. I heard the scales knock against the bathroom floor to switch on, and then footsteps running down my stairs. I thought one of the children must have weighed. Turned around to see who it was. Husband, in boxers looking excited – 0.7kg down from yesterday wanting to know what that was in real money and could I google it. He’s the lowest he has been in years, bless him.

Welcome Orinoco, nice to meet you 😀 Well done on a great first weight loss and the week isn’t over yet! Your description of your medication made me chuckle, hopefully you can see a reduction in some of those, I’m not on BSD for medical reasons, but I know a lot of people have come off certain meds 🙂

Ah don’t be shy, not in this thread anyway 😀 We’re a lovely friendly lot 🙂

    Gawd it’s hot.

That’s a shame about your Nordic walking thingy 🙁 But you’ve probably a better chance of finding something similar living in London, I suppose? We haven’t even got 3G hahahaha.

Yes my dd does live with me and is pampered to bits…hence why mum was up doing breakfast smoothie and lunch for us both.
Hubby is on kind of onboard as well altho he is a man after his own means so he will eat whatever is in front of him + whatever he fancies, but if I press it too much You can / cant eat, before he himself tells me, am in for a right ole time so I leave it to him to say am on board 100%, which he will once he sees us 2 losing….so here we go

Yowzer that is impressive indeed. One of the reasons my dd is on BSD is coz I keep quoting figures like that at her! She is not a diabetic but does suffer Chrons. She has some stones top lose coz put lots on ( prob meds ) so shes hopeful.

Feeling we can really do this today….

And well done to Luckys husband….lol made me smile about routine – must be a man thing hahhaha

Yep Smp. Pee. Weigh. Shower. Considers clothing options like a Kardashian love child for at least ten minutes. Dresses. Ambles downstairs. Sits down and waits for coffee to be brought to him. Today he ran downstairs in his underwear lol. My hubby has been overweight for years due to diet and alcohol consumption, as he was a confirmed bachelor always out with the lads every weekend until he met me at the age of 37. I was curvy but still overweight, I’d say a size 16 when we met. Contentment led me to rise to a 24 and him to nearly 21 stone at one point. He’s just as eager as I am to lose weight, so I’m lucky in that he’s willing to give anything a try, he’s done WW, SW, ADF, cabbage soup. But this is different somehow, the rapid weight loss has kept his interest piqued. That’s why I try to vary things and I am so eager to try replacements, so he can still have a cake or a sandwich etc.

Today is going to be *awesome*!!! Weightlosses, sunshine, walking, woooooooooooo go team!

Going to take some pain relief with me. It’s downhill and flat all the way there and we’ll get a bus back. Should cover a minimum 3 miles anyway. Call in the Asian Supermarket, which I only get a chance to whenever I’m on foot as there’s little or no parking in that part of the city. See if we can get some clothes for these kids for the christening.

hi antigone – well done on the half stone, that’s a really good start. I had a problem with lack of salt at one point – bacon or salmon sorts it out! (or the more mundane putting table salt on your food 🙂 )

Lucky – why were you feeling sorry for yourself this morning? hope everything is Ok. (was working my way down the thread, sounds as if you’d cheered up by 10.30!) If it was just sitting quietly with a cop of coffee and not getting much done – put a positive spin on it and call it meditating or being mindful. OH sounds amusing. leaping about in underpants to celebrate success. I may have missed some posts, but I hope post-holiday BSD recovery is going well for you.

    congratulations Yowzer, excellent loss

I used to do a lot of walking, enjoying getting back into it. I am noticing that I need to take far more water than I ever used to! Felt very dehydrated yesterday afternoon because I was low on water.
I felt a bit stiff when I got up at around 5.30 (Froglet breakfast), but went back to bed & felt fine when I got up at about 9am.
Hacked off about the Nordic walking – gives me time to try taster sessions with other trainers, no other starter courses kicking off immediately. I did like the first woman when I met her at the weekend- but less keen now that I’ve realised she is so flaky.

Hi Orinoco – sounds like a complicated meds cocktail – hope BSD sorts some of your health issues for you

Had a delicious salad for lunch – I bought it yesterday evening but didn’t need it – M&S Beetroot, lentil & aubergine with goats cheese – bit carby (313 cal, 33g carbs) but delicious & filling.
And – haven’t eaten it yet, but I bought sugar free jelly crystals in the supermarket the other week & forgot about them. I haven’t eaten jelly for years, but thought it would be a good option with yogurt on days that have been a bit carby. A pack makes an entire pint! Smelt a bit chemically rather than ‘Mmmmm blackcurrants’ (9 calories and less than half a gram of carbs). Willl report back on what its like.

Bikini! I may be a size 14 with lumps and bumps that 40 sthg mums have, but this is the best I’ve looked and felt in a long time!!

Lucky – the ice cream was rum & raisin. I’m not even sure I LIKE that flavour but my mum always raves about it so I thought it was worth a try! I had a bacon sandwich h this morning; first ‘real’ bread for 13+ weeks. And you know what? I could take it or leave it! All those cravings for bread at the start of this journey..gone!!

Welcome Antigone 🙂 Well done on the great start to BSD 🙂

FANTASTIC list Yowzer! He gets it spot on, doesn’t he? I love Peter Kay, saw him live on the Tour that didn’t tour Tour in Liverpool and I think we were 10 or 11 rows from the front, best seats I’ve ever had at any concert or comedy gig. Apart from Lawson where I was stood at the front like a hysterical 14 year old. Fan-momming. It’s like Fan-girling but for older women.

Hello Frog 🙂 I was just feeling sorry for myself because my lower half packed up and then my husband came down in his undies and said he’d walk into town with me, and the boys said they would come sans protest, so today I pushed through it as opposed to yesterday. Oh Frog! I bought some of that in the first week of the diet and I’ve clean forgot about it, think mine was lime though! Might be ok with a bit of Greek on it?

Wooooooooo Janey, BSD beach babe! 😉 If I was a 14 I’d be shoved into a bikini too, wearing my stripes across my stomach with pride (I bloody earned them). Mmmmmm, I like that in an ice cream, but not actual rum.

Well – I have had a lovely 4 hours out of the house! We walked into the upper half of town which took an hour precisely from home. We went to the Asian Supermarket and I bought some bits from there, sauces mainly. Then we went to this little independent health food store, and I found more ground flaxseed, same make as Tesco – a pound cheaper. All the stuff I’d bought in H&B it was much much cheaper in there, they even had chestnut flour, which I found a recipe for bread the other day that used it. And they had little tiny 60g bars of dairy free, crappy sugar free, everything free raw fudge. Had little bits to sample, it was LOVELY. Expensive at £2.20 but for a little treat occasionally, and low carb at 6g per 20g portion and I’d probably slice it into 6 as opposed to 3, that was coconut sugar and peanut butter and can’t remember what else, I’ve had to put it in the fridge as it’s so hot it’s melted! Then we walked down into town and went into the Cathedral for a wander around and got some lovely photos before leaving a donation – costs nearly £500 a day for them to open the doors to the public. Needed to buy tops for the Christening, found the boys two sale shirts a fiver each, and managed to get myself an off the peg size 20 NON STRETCHY TOP in the sale! Woooooooooooooo go me! Bus home almost to the door to find the car is done, my friend is just taking my husband now, £40 less than we’d been originally quoted… sun is shining – tea is made since last night, what a lovely afternoon 🙂 Told you all it would be a good one!

I usually eat well during the day and I walk about 8000steps at work but no other exercise. My problem is I find myself giving in to temptation very easily. previously I was very strict ,now I am treating myself and giving in to cravings.I have lost and gained .3kg every day for two weeks. feel so stuck and loosing motivation fast.Any ideas??

Hey Butterlover. Sorry to hear that you’re struggling. I see from your profile that you have temptation lying around and the only thing I can suggest is to talk to your family honestly and tell them that by having it around, it’s making it harder for you. At the end of the day in your case it’s not just doing this to lose weight, you have a medical reason to, it’s for the good of your health. Maybe the others could keep their junk food where you won’t have access to it? My children eat all manner of stuff but I’m reasonably good on this and make sure I have alternatives like dark chocolate and nuts and things and I bake little legal muffins and cupcakes and have one of those warmed with Oppo ice cream if I fancy something sweet. I find this thread is good for motivating me when I’m having a meh day and I in turn motivate my husband. If you can, keep posting regularly, someone will pick you up. I don’t know how you could kickstart the weight loss again, that would give you a boost, but I’m not great at the facts and figures and sciency bits. But I’m sure someone in here will know. Chin up chook x

I could do one of those oreos now Tokyo, just to try. The car, it turns out, had some broken pipe, only a small job. Fully serviced too. And I went to put my lottery on online and decided to play a scratchcard, a very, very rare occurrence as I’m a bit cynical about them, especially online as I feel they could be ‘fixed’ – and I won £100! Could the day get any better? Is there salted caramel Oppo left? If so, then yes!

Hi Butterlover – if you get tempted then remove all of the foods. Replace with other healthy options and allow maybe 100 calories a day for them.

As Lucky said if others in the house ,maybe it’s time for a tougher and stronger approach. Tell them not ask, that when “x” foods are eaten they are not being replaced. Instead there will be apples etc…..

Your health is more important than anything else. Be tough and stronger.

And drink black coffee and more water if you can.

I havent stuck to it as well as I could have the last couple of weeks but I am still feeling better than before I started and looking better although when I did my weigh-in on Sunday I had gone back up 1.2kg since 2 weeks ago. Getting back on track this week, Im good at sticking to it during the week but I struggle at the weekends cause im often at other peoples house, working at events or back at home where there are lots of temptations. One postive is that I dont give in to these tepmtations like I use to.

Hi Runforfun 🙂 Nice to see you back! Haha, yes it is a bit daunting trying to keep up with this. I haven’t touched on the posts from where I was away, best to just jump back in to it where you land 😉 You know that you can shift that 1.2 kg in a matter of days if you put your mind to it, so don’t worry about it. I’ve lost 1.5 kg in two days lol. It sounds really hard especially if you’re on the go all the time, so well done for resisting as much as you do. I don’t know if you saw my posts after my camping, I had a few treats but I made certain concessions. I took my ice cream (not as nice as Oppo – although – coffee Oppo??? Tell the powers that be… 😉 ) in a tub instead of a cornet, I shared a portion of chips with my husband instead of having one each (and it was enough to be honest because I’m not used to eating that much now). I had a slice of cake and whoa man it was too sickly in parts. The cake was ok but the icing on top and the buttercream, set my teeth on edge it was so sweet. As long as you make the right choices most of the time, it will come off 🙂

    You’re welcome Gavin 🙂

Thanks Yowzer 🙂 It had come after I’d forked out £150 on the car, so it sweetened the sting of that, I suppose! Paid for the car service at least 😀 Just been out chatting to our pensioner neighbour in the glorious sunshine, gave her a good handful of our homegrown tomatoes. Entering some competitions now, see if my luck holds 😉

I don’t think I’d want to spend it all in a cake shop any more!:-) Not all in one go, anyway. Spread over three years maybe 🙂

    Hi
just had nice supper – ratatouille and cheese stuffed mushrooms with bacon – bit salty though!
Conran was right – life is indeed too short to stuff a mushroom – that’s why M&S exists!
The jelly was pleasant too – refreshing, if not an overly strong flavour – ‘stretched’ a smallish dollop of fage.

I had a random call to make an appointment to see the diabetes nurse today, so that’s scheduled for Thursday. Doesn’t seem that long since last time. How frequent are these things supposed to be?
I managed to find another Nordic Walking course that starts on Tuesday – on Hampstead Heath though, so might be a bit hilly.

Whoo Hoo on the win Lucky – has it gone in to the repair the car fund? Glad the damage wasn’t too serious
Coffee Ice Cream? yuk! I think we ought to run a poll for our favourite flavour for RunforFun to suggest to Oppo to make next. Pistachio every time!

Well done on the hotel stay Verano – “I’ll have the Eton Mess without the Meringue and cream sounds like my request for “can I have it without the bread please?” in Greggs

Aster – I think the “speak to your GP before you do the diet” is a bit like when you get “dry clean only” labels on a cotton T Shirt – belt and braces approach! My GP called me about something else and I mentioned that I was doing BSD – I think at that point I’d lost about a stone – response was “Jolly Good” – when I said something like another 5 to go, the response was “gosh, that’s ambitious” – Doctor told though! If you see a Warfarin Nurse regularly though, probably a helpful to discuss with her – may have more time, when I took warfarin a few years ago, I found the nurse helpful (Helpful-ish – when I saw a consultant he asked why I was still taking warfarin, I should have only needed it for 8 weeks)

Butterlover – if the 5:2 isnt working for you, why not do a couple of weeks 800 to reinvigorate your enthusiasm/reset your ‘yuk’ its sweet and sugary buttons and then try the Low Carb Mediterranean plan instead.

Sorry you had a frustrating hospital trip Izzy, hope they get to the bottom of things soon.

Haha, life is too short to stuff a mushroom – stolen! Fantastic that you found another course starting so soon! Yes, it’s gone to replace what was paid out, would have been nice to have splurged but hey ho, it all goes the same way, doesn’t it? And I had a lovely day and a new top. Oh and new dressy flip flops as my EWM ones are a bit… non Christening-y. And the world’s most expensive fudge. I checked before, it was almond flour, coconut sugar, peanut butter, himalayan sea salt and there was one more thing. There’s always one thing I can’t remember. Raw fudge, who’d have thought. Raw. Fudge.

Oh I love coffee ice cream! Ok, I love ice cream. Especially ones that break from the boring supermarket norm. I like pistachio too. Clotted cream and blackcurrant. Jaffa cake. Banana. Christmas Pudding. I’ll shut up now.

I’ve given up trying to keep track. It’s just tricky replying as you can’t automatically quote a post (s).

Anyway I had my bolognese and corguetty for dinner. Really like this particular meal. Decent quantity of food too.

I’m not a massive fan of courgetty, I really wanted to be, because I love courgettes ordinarily. I enjoyed the carrot and butternut spaghetti mixed, seemed to be a bit more substantial than courgette. But I would still eat courgetty. Hubby looks crestfallen whenever I give it to him.

Tea tonight was the lamb shepherds pie with a crumble top. In the BSD recipes on this site . Quiet nice actually but the carbs and cals were a lot considering the portion wasn’t great ( or am too used to piling the plates lol ) I don’t feel stuffed, just nice. But sone now and dd enjoyed

Gosh Lucky, you have the right username! And yes appreciate it has paid you back…nice one!!

Frog, I totally forgot but have a shed load of sugar free jellies
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00M467TRK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 to get through.

I heard about them on a diabetic board, as they are suitable for vegetarians. Might do some tonight for a snackarooo.

Just read your blog, Gavin, well done – looks great, interesting stuff, and introducing a whole new audience to the BSD. What’s not to like – congratulations on your great results! 🙂

1960smp your dinner sounded lovely though.

Lucky, I can understand the corguetty feeling. I did have butternut squash noodles with a pork stir fry and they were much tastier.

Frog – stuffed mushrooms are delicious:)

Igorasusual, thanks very much. It does open up an audience of tech readers. I’m shocked how many of my regular tech readers are type 2, or have health issues relating to diet. It’s like it’s a hidden epidemic.

Now who mentioned they loved ice cream 😉
