Out of sheer boredom at lunchtime (after I ate my sauerkraut and salmon and tomatoes and spoon of humous), I went out for a walk and found myself buying an americano… I don’t even like coffee very much! Also it seems to make my heart beat too fast and sometimes I really notice it the next day, a kind of frantic euphoria followed by a flat feeling. But anyway, just wanted something and it seems to have squashed all feelings of want and in fairness tasted quite good. Just flavoured water anyway, with a splash of milk so could have done worse:-) I went from getting lunch out nearly everyday to bringing in my own lunch every day for the last 8 weeks and it is really good but sometimes I just want to buy something!! That sounds like a bad thing doesn’t it – wonder why buying something is seen as a treat…
I definitely will have to get into meditation at lunchtime. Anyway, coffee fuelled now and ready for a productive afternoon – what’s the saying coffee makes you do stupid things quicker??… We’ll see…. -
Hi Eps, oh definitely could have been a lot, lot worse than a coffee! Sounds like you’re pretty sensitive to caffeine then? One of my friends gets palpitations with it, she’s ok with decaff. I bet that’s saved you a fair bit of money then, bringing your own lunches?
I’ve never heard that saying before, but now that I have, it puts about 95% of my life into context! Haha!
Well, I decided on Lamb and mint chickpea wrap ‘samosas’ for tea but I was slightly foiled… chickpea wraps once again faultless now I have the right brand of flour, the lamb mixture gorgeous, but the wraps wouldn’t ‘stick’ together along a seam when moistened like pastry does. So… I will try this again with the nacho pastry (but this will make them a lot higher in cals!) another week, and for tonight I guess it’s lamb samosa filling and chickpea wraps lol. Hubby had one for lunch and he said it was lovely. Will make a little greek yogurt raita to go with, and a salad 🙂
-
Hee hee well not sure it has worked that well, but I will say it totally disolves hunger! Weird… but wont be getting one often anyway, will stick to my peppermint tea!
Yummmm – samosa sounds so delicious! Lucky husband, I say it again!! :-)) Will have to start cooking something more exciting than courgetti – I hate to say it but I might just be getting sick of it… :-0 Had a thought today that if I got sick of cauliflower I’d be stuck with nothing to eat!!! ;-)))) Which isnt true obviously as LOADS of foods but you know the way. Discovered some lentil pasta the other day so will try that soon – on the day I make it to dinnertime without having used up too many calories – wasn’t too high in carbs and was bright red! Only lentil flour in it supposedly. Might make a nice pasta bake. I don’t know how people just divide their calories in two meals a day – I just can’t do that and spread it out over 3. Or havent yet anyway – maybe I should try as an experiment and report back…
-
Yes I know what you mean, if you exhaust courgetti and cauliflower you’ve lost your two ‘carbs’ to have a meal with, your pasta and your rice. Lentil pasta sounds interesting, I love lentils. I made a lentil bolognaise once that was amazing but I lost the recipe. It’s in a safe place, of course, so safe I can’t find it. Never used lentil flour though, I’ll need to buy a shed to keep all these bloody flours in!
I’m pretty much doing two meals a day, but I’ve never ever really been a breakfast person, unless it’s a full english and someone is cooking it for me and washing up lol. I find the moment I start eating in a day, it kickstarts me and I’m constantly looking for something to munch on, graze on. The longer I can leave it before eating, the better. Plus, I like a decent tea, and I need to be full up at night. Or rather, I used to need that. I’ve found the last week or so, my tea is the last thing that goes in my mouth at night, and I’ve lost the urge to snack for the sake of it. I haven’t even had my greek yogurt and berries because I haven’t wanted it. I was looking back over this thread for a recipe earlier and I saw that I’d had a mad one a few weeks ago wanting a packet of crisps lol. Not thought of them since. Progress!
-
Yay that’s great! Definite progress. Cant do the clapping hands here for you but I would if I could!
Hmm maybe I should try that about the two meals…
hee hee I have those safe places for recipes too… bits of paper in books…
-
I suppose everyone’s different Eps, some people may wake up ravenous and breakfast might keep them going until mid-afternoon. Some of my friends have porridge in the morning and are still full at lunch time, if I ate porridge, I’d need brunch AND lunch lol. Some people can eat smaller meals, I’ve been so used to eating massive portions – greed, plain and simple – that the thought of sitting at night hungry is terrifying. It probably wasn’t even hunger, just habit. As it is, even though my tea is much much smaller than what I’d have eaten before, I’m rarely clearing my plate. But I need to be sure that that one meal of the day is going to be enough to satisfy me. Or provide me with more than salad lol (you know me and salad!)
I’ve browsed through my Kindle and yes, Girl on the Train. I have been meaning to read it for ages so while it’s fresh in my head, I’ve binned Tipping Point for a bit, I was in a novel mood anyway, and what the what is going on in this book???? I have absolutely no idea what is going on. Which is the point, I suppose…
Everyone quiet tonight?
-
Here I am! As Lucky is aware, I’m in experimental mode again tonight.. And have just made broccoli flatbread! It’s currently cooling so will report back. I substituted gram flour for the almond flour as thought it was a. cheaper and b. more savoury! Loving the new food processor, which blitzed it!
I also finally downloaded Girl on a Train but really need to finish current book. Argh, no spoilers please!!
-
Ooooooooooh look at you mixing it up with your flours! 😉
No spoilers from me, I’m still in a state of WTF, to be honest 😀
-
fishcake disaster how do you make it all stick together tried with the chickpea flour but it was no good
grated the beetroot blitzed the chickpeas but will put it together tomorrow
roasted a load of peppers and courgette and aubergine to make a veg lasagne at some point near the end of the week
hopefully will be ahead of myself for a while -
Ooooh, I don’t know Josie. Usually you’d mash with potato but, I haven’t a clue what would bind it and taste nice. Janey? Any ideas?
Aren’t you good, all prepared? I’ve got as far as knowing what I’m eating, but I’m cooking day by day still. Life was a bit simpler when I was eating the old way, but I am enjoying the learning new things, eating new things, stretching myself and not giving up on certain foods. I am a Taurus, we’re stubborn… hehe.
-
Ha ha girl on a train reading club👍👏🏻
No spoilers as I can’t really remember the end… Actually I can…will say nothing! 😝
Good one on the flat bread Janey! Hope it’s deliciously green🐛👏👏
Was just at a yoga class that felt like Bootcamp, ah well it’s worth it for relaxed feeling after it. Why don’t I get up early and do some myself every morning?? I don’t know. So hard to do things that I know are good and so easy to do things I know are bad. 🤓 (The nerd face is for philosophising) 😹
-
Maybe an egg Josie? Love fish cakes, yum. And roasted veg, brill.
Hee hee Stubborn lucky, Taurus are determined, sounds better than stubborn. A talent I’d say.
I’m Scorpio so other than being supposedly evil, I’m all about the extremes apparently!! Currently extreme healthy hopefully 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😹 -
My four closest friends are all Scorpios! 4th, 5th, 7th and 10th November. I don’t know why but they just seem to compliment me. Wouldn’t say any were particularly evil though lol. Love Scorpios 🙂
The bread is more than green, Eps, it has a distinctive feature that I’ll let Janey fill you in about. It looked good though.
I think Yoga is on my 40 before 40 list too, I’ve always wanted to try it. Just want to point out that because I started my 40/40 list stupidly late, I’m allowing myself this year to do the things too 😉 Always last minute, me.
-
It makes for a bloody expensive birthday week though, especially when you add in my Dad on the 12th… lol
-
Complement me, not compliment me…
-
Good evening ladies !!!
good to see you cope without me although i personally think your lacking a bit of brenda and her cinderella moments !!!!
i have read girl on a train and i do remember the ending and i thought it was ………….( got you going then!!)
well today avoided tea and biscuits at work god i am getting good at this didnt realise the amount of crap we got !!!!
Weekly weigh in tomorrow so fingers crossed although mid week cheeky weigh in was good !! am struggling with fluid intake at work its a bit funny drinking it all then getting halfway thru an op and saying ” hang on i need the loo”!!!!!! so not quite drinking as much but then if i drink when i get in i am up at night !!! doh the traumas of a BSD er !!!!!
my end goal is that my eight weeks will be up 11 august i go on hols 10 th to antwerp the home of the best chocolate in the world !!! also frites and mayonaise ( not ordinary mayonaise the most lusicious mayo ever and on chips !!!)i shall be partaking of copious amounts so hopefully it wont kill me !!! -
i am also a Taurus, the reason i have used up everything is that i am fed up with buying loads of stuff that i don’t end up using
-
Well, we’re definitely experiencing a Tokyo deficiency! Well done on resisting the goodies (or baddies, should I say) long may it last!
The liquid thing is doing me too. My midwife warned me, she warned me that if I didn’t do my pelvic floor exercises I would be like an 80 year old woman by the time I was 40. That’s how bloody lazy I was, I wouldn’t even do exercise that was clenching muscles. Everything I drink goes straight through me in the day, but I seem to be ok at night, oddly enough.
Ooooooooh that sounds lovely Tokyo! Well, you never know, you might not over-indulge either – your body might not like it any more! You might find that you’ve done so well that you don’t want to go completely off track? But if there’s one time you should treat yourself, it should be a holiday. I’m determined to stick to it while we camp though, the more situations I can get through eating this way, the more inclined I will be to stick to it. It’s going to take a lot of planning though, I have got a list… me and my bloody lists haha.
Josie, I hear you! I just can’t stop myself. If I didn’t buy another thing for another three months, I’m sure we wouldn’t starve. I need to stop. Must be a Taurus thing.
-
I’ve got 4 kilos of bloody chickpea flour… how long is it going to take to use all that up???
-
Ha ha yes it’s funny I know, even though some bit of me thinks it can’t mean anything, it’s weird how often my friends are all born Around the same few times of the year!
Oooo you’ll have to try yoga Lucky, it’s sooo great. Just mKe sure you get a nice relaxing class to start out with, and avoid ones where people are more concerned with their outfits.. Loads of good classes for free on you tube too, beginner ones too👏👏
I’m intrigued about the flat bread hee hee it’s not that it smells pretty bad before it’s cooked is it??? Broccoli stink 😹😹👏
-
so i am 5 weeks in and go on holiday to France on the 15th August, when i return i am due to have my bloods done so am definitely not able to eat the bread but can have a glass of red!!! Oh well
-
Sounds great Tokyo, by then you might even be able to afford a few chips and them get back onto it again, or a bit of chocolate, you’ll probably feel sick after so little anyway!!😂At least you’ll know what to do to get going again after holidays. Have to be able to live too. Ah holidays, wedding in Italy in September is mine, can’t wait. Focusing on floaty dresses every time I think of chocolate
-
Josie I was on France in April and it was partly what prompted me to start this!! Felt sick and bloated and unhealthy after a week of cheese and bread and pain au chocolates (I’m clearly not made for bread I think) and wS determined to change! So it’s all over rated is what trying to say and you’ll be so much better off if you have to avoid or limit it, everything looks waaaaay better than it tastes anyway. Few glasses of red wine will be delicious with some nice cheese👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
-
bloody hell i have only got 1 kilo and was wondering the same, i can tell you it did nothing for the fishcakes
-
I can’t tell, they’re Janey’s to spill the beans about 😉 Yes, I think it’s something I’m going to look into now, feeling a bit more confident about my body, still big but at least I won’t be waddling into there!
Looking at all these posts I am so glad we haven’t got passports and holiday in the UK or I would be in huuuuuuge trouble! Thankfully I only have Llangollen and Norwich to negotiate between now and September 😀 Thank God I’m not going to Devon this year, I need a bit more time and experience (and weightloss) under my belt before I could inflict that on me again. I think the closest I came to fruit and veg for the whole fortnight was the wine (grapes) and the clotted cream ice cream (blackcurrant). Oh, and the salad on my kebab. My word, I was awful.
I had to buy another 2 kilo yesterday Josie, because the ones I bought won’t make the chickpea wraps lol, they just stick to the frying pan, and it’s a really good non stick one. I had to throw about 6 of every ten I cooked.
-
i am afraid i shall be eating as much beguim choc as is physically possible to ram in my very large and loud gob and if i feel sick i shall blinking enjoy it !!!
by that time i shall hopefully be in many cinderella outfits !!! specially put away for hols !!!!
every night i get up middle of night now !!! to nip to the loo so this water just go straight thru !!!!! -
before all of this started i had bought low G I bread at Lidl but couldn’t find out what the carbs were so stopped eating it. Anyone got any ideas
-
I’d imagine it’ll take a lot less now to make you feel sick than before, Tokyo. Which is good 🙂 Being able to enjoy something without taking it to excess. Maybe one day I will be like that about wine… 😉

-

i may even taunt you with pics !!!!! -
Should t matter in a good yoga class what size anyone is. There’s this lady, think she’s American, who is now a teacher and she is still bigger than typical yoga types but obviously gets loads out of it – should look her up with my not very helpful intro😹 She seems inspiring though. Not sure what complimentary description you’d have to put into google to find her though..😳
-
I’ll be licking the screen Tokyo 😂😂😂😂😹
-
I’ll be deactivating my Twitter while you’re away then Tokyo 😛 😉
I was wondering how to phrase that, would I have to be terribly politically correct???
-
-
that was quick how did you find that, looks quite high in carbs i would guess thats for about 1 slice what do you think
-
so countdown to tomorrows weigh in !!!!
end of week four and so far all i gained are you thelma and louise !!!!!!!!
fair trade tho for bread biscuits pasta potatoes !!! ( although not sure bout biscuit trade !!!)
a good old fry up for tea tonight no fritatta in sight !!!!!! may that word not be mentioned again !!! -
Hello hello, I’m back. Sorry, was battling the grey hair into submission in the bathroom so am now youthful looking (albeit with a runny nose and purple ears).
Now, fish cakes. Pop and egg white in to bind it. And keep your chickpeas a little more chunky.
The flatbreads… Hmm. Lucky and Tokyo already know that I have discovered the farty smell seems to linger AFTER cooking. I tried an off cut and it tasted a bit farty/cauliflower like. But I will reserve judgment until I have made it into an open sandwich tomorrow! The wraps are lurking in the fridge for tonight..
Yoga? I once was asked to leave a Pilates lesson as my friend and I couldn’t control our giggles when a fellow participant accidentally passed wind during a move!! I did a bit of Body Balance too. That’s a cop out version of Pilates/ tai chi and yoga.
And guess what star sign I am (not that I really believe that stuff)…. LEO!!! Gotta be the centre of attention? Surely not!!
-
Thanks Eps 🙂 Will check that out now
I just put Lidl Low GI bread in a google search and found the nutritional info on a website. I think it said for 100g, is that a slice? I don’t know, I’ve never weighed bread to be honest, I wouldn’t have a clue!!
Haha, well friends are better to gain than pounds or kilos, eh Tokyo? Depends what biscuit, if we’re talking Rich Tea, then yeah we are better. Chocolate Caramel Digestives… maybe not.
From now on it shall be referred to as an omelette. Even if it is more fritattaey than an omelette. Fritatta is confined to room 101 with coriander the herb and my smoked mackered cauliflower rice kedgeree.
-
i suppose this will be the new mantra keep your chickpeas chunky
-
i am not liking the sound of these flatbreads it may be a fartbread to far !!!! ( see what i did there!!!)
-
You can bet a pound to a pinch of shi*e that I would be the one to fart…
Leo the Lion eh? Oh, I’m a great believer in astrology, you wouldn’t believe how many computers have died on me during Mercury Retrogrades over the last five years, I think it’s 4. My mobile phone copped it the last time. I always have to spend about a week beforehand backing up all my stuff!
Good luck tomorrow Tokyo, are you working? If so try and pop on and let us know how your weigh in went before you go!
-
Haha Josie, that’s a good one, that can definitely go in with a pot of hurrah and tutting at wilted kale. Can just imagine Janey stood over us as we cook like Gordon Ramsay, barking ‘KEEP YOUR CHICKPEAS CHUNKY!’
-
no i have done my bit for the ill this week back next tues cleaning andcwindow washing tomorrow !!! woo hoo
i shall be here reporting in !!!
and for the record brenda is a scorpio !!! -
Yayyyyy another Scorpio to add to my collection 😀 I’ll be up from around 5 am if you weigh early and are excited lol
-
It’s a Scorpio fest! At least we’re all different.
Will an egg go on my fart bread for brekkie? Or squeaky cheese? Can I even do broccoli for breakfast????? 🙄
-
i was just sick at the very thought of it brocoli for breakfast !!! bread that smells of farts wrong on so many levels !!!!!
-
I don’t know, Janey… you’d need iron guts to cope with fart bread in the am.
-
i am sticking to my yoghurt !!
over and out brenda !!!!
