Chickpea pasta

    Hi all

    I have just bought some chickpea pasta in Sainsbury’s. Made from just ground chickpeas & water. It does say 45g carbs per 100g but I think I’ve read somewhere that chickpeas have little effect on BS??

    Any advice would be great 😀

    Yes chickpeas do have a low GI value at 28 which means they have a slower effect on blood sugars. BUT a low carb diet is usually based on less than maybe 50g of carbs a day. So to stay low carb, as in the BSD, you wouldn’t get too much chickpea pasta in your daily allowance. Maybe try courgetti spaghetti instead!
