Morning All, I have been reading posts and reviews, quite inspiring, well done all. I started on Monday and after weighing in today I have lost 14lbs, is this even possible? I must have been holding a lot of water! I have not had any cravings yet or felt hungry, infact I am enjoying the challenge of eating different things that are still tasty, early days I know but determined to stop this yo yo dieting cycle and learn a new way of eating healthy forever. I have at least 5 stone to loose, probably more but will decide a target after my 8 weeks. My Mum is diabetic, I am fat and 50 and although

Gill33UK – an amazing weight loss. You are right – you must have been holding into a huge amount of water from the carbs you were eating. What I love about the BSD is that when you cut out the sugary starchy carbs you don’t crave them – so an end to yo yo dieting. You.are being so sensible to start this now. Much better to prevent diabetes than to tackle it once it strikes.

Thank you, I will have a look. I have 2 sister’s that are doing this two, one started 108 days ago and has lost a staggering 36lb and now weighs what she did at 20! She has inspired me and my twin to not end up like our lovely Mum so the challenge is on!

Thanks, just did a rough calculation of what I would eat in a day without lunch and dinner and its about 2500! No wonder it’s dropping off! I was a real secret biscuit/sweet eater and in denial, extra thick toast with loads of butter and wine! Loosing a stone in the first week (day 3) is a real shocker but no surprise really after dropping at a conservative guess (take away/eating out/alcohol) 3000 cals a day, now to keep it up but the scales and my sisters are a great motivation.

    Hi Gill,
That’s an amazing result in the first week! Well done for getting started, it’s very motivating to read of others’ experiences. I haven’t started yet, I’m preparing for next week Wednesday, when I get back from a trip. Are you taking your measurements too? I have just taken some photos of me in underwear and then printed them out, I intend to keep them next to my bed, along with a chart I drew up so I can tick off the days over the course of the two months. I am trying to give myself every possible bit of motivation that I can, as I am beyond frustrated with my eating habits and resulting overweight. Like you, I have been in denial to the extent of my overeating, and I know I crave refined carbs and sugar like crazy, so I am looking forward to adopting a way of eating that will reduce those cravings. Good luck for the coming weeks!

All the best to you all as you embark on this new cruisy way of life!!!!! In 4 weeks I had discarded an incredible ll kgs!!! Thats 2.2lbs per kg. And I FEEL amazing, energised, sharper and just all round better!!! Seems I am one of those who is diabetic – according to my latest blood tests . . . so my resolve to avoid insulin injections – (because I couldnt tolerate the tablet meds) – is almost an obsession. Several “”advisors” “dietary specialists” had previously OK’d my menu of wholesome homecooking etc. II could see nothing but a dead end of insulin injections to my demise. What was astonishing was to discover though a friend of my sons, and Dr Moselys book that carbs could do it . . I checked out my breakfast oatmeal, crispbreads with cheese tomato etc for lunch . . . a crumpet for supper and my beef/chicken/hamhock soups. ALL BSL skyrockets. I had NO TROUBLE ditching them for stirfrys, eggs, salads and veges even though I have NEVER been a big vege person – I can manage the stirfry selections well . . . so I eat LOADS of stirfrys. I havent had to try hard to get to where I am. Im enjoying the challenge of new meals ideas, getting an amazing BSL reading before my meals . . .and not even looking at the after ones!!! Ive figured if the before ones are way low then they must have peaked then lowered already!!! Go for it! So much to gain!

Thank all, may have been a bit premature, I thought it was too good to be true, new battery in my scales say that I have lost 4lbs, still happy with that as only been doing it for 4 days, I new it was too good to be true ๐Ÿ™‚ Never mind, 4lb is more realistic so will take it! Love the encouragement already from these forums and the sound advice, good luck all.

Dont keep weighing ๐Ÿ™‚ Leave it a week – and then check (if you must!) – but I think that just adds expectation and more stress which isnt necessary ๐Ÿ™‚ Enjoy the experience and just go with the flow ๐Ÿ™‚

Gill33UK – so pleased to hear that your scales were faulty. If your weight loss had been 11lb – it would have meant that you had been eating a truly industrial amount of carbs for your body to release so much water so quickly when you cut out the bad carbs. The carb flu that would have followed would not have been pleasant.

So great news that your true weight loss was 4lb.

Its like a lifeline out of a huge hole or bog isnt it . . .? Im still dealing with anger about ALL the people Ive been too who DIDNT suggest or appear to know this might help me. Some of them I need to go to again before this is over. That will be a tough call after wht they out me through. Bit Im doing my best to use my eerience to educate them if they dont know . . . then if they do Ill be asking for answers ๐Ÿ™‚ Politely of course. But if the Insight programme I watched is any indicator, when the DIabetes Australia representative couldnt answer the programme hostess’ simple question re carbs on the diet plan . . . I dont have much hope ๐Ÿ™‚
