Thought I’d share a recipe I stumbled on to on YouTube, for a sort of flatbread made with tahini. Just use 2tblsps of tahini to 1 egg (multiply up as desired), whisk to a batter and losen with a little water. Pour batter into a hot frying pan as thinly as desired, cook both sides. I haven’t worked out the nutritional values, but safe to say these will be low carb.
Made the batter and cooked two small thinnish flatbreads for a late lunch with some tuna mayo, tasty and surprisingly filling.

That sounds interesting Sunny, I’ll give it a go. I struggle with lunches, nothing seems as convenient as my long ago sandwich.
Just checking in with my weekly results, 400g or one lb gone. Slow but steady 😁

Hello everyone
Just checking in with my weight loss and an update on my pesky tooth! This week I have discarded 2.6 lb and weighed in at 151.2lb. I am so pleased that my hard work is paying off. I was expecting 1lb. I’m nearly in the 140s. I’ve discarded 15.4 lbs since January.
I had to book into the dentist as I had a massive bleed from the gum thats been a problem since July last year. I negotiated with the dental therapist today to get the tooth taken out . It’s a back one and is very problematic and I’ve suffered since July with ongoing pain and inflammation. Do you remember my dentist told me I had cancer!! I’m not seeing him anymore! Anyway I am seeing the dentist on Wednesday and hopefully she will extract the offending tooth. I hope I don’t have to be referred to the hospital which they said could be a possibility. My Dexa scan shows no deterioration in my osteoporosis which is also great news today. So, I’ve had a great day of good news.
How are you all doing? Looking forward to hearing how DCT enjoyed her holiday to New York. Yowser, how has your restart been this week? Dawn, how did you find your new plan this week? Mariet- well done on your discard. Good riddance to that pesky pound! Sunny thank you for the flatbread recipe-nice for lunch.
I hope everyone has had a reasonably positive week. The Middle East conflict is very very scary and I can’t help thinking and worrying for all the people caught up in the conflict. Certainly puts thinks into perspective. Sadly, my niece won’t be able to take up her teaching post in Dubai when she graduates in the summer.
Let’s try and stay positive. Let’s try and focus on saying goodbye once and for all to the excess weight we don’t want to carry around. -
Mariet, I made the tahini flatbreads quite thick yesterday and had them with topping, but today I made them very thin, cooled them on a cold plate and then used them as wraps … worked really well.
CC, well done on your discards. Hope you get the problematic tooth sorted out … take care of yourself. As you say, we all need to find some positivity with all that’s going on in the world at large.
Post holiday, I’m beginning to see a slow creep downwards on the weight front, but not counting chickens … will report in after my Tuesday weigh in. -
Hello Everyone,
Hope everyone is travelling well on their fast800 journey.
Sorry I haven’t been around, just completed 10 weeks fast800, feeling great! Still not weighed myself but using a measuring tape and clothes as a gauge.
Still trying to get my head around transferring to 5:2 in two weeks! A little nervous of the non fast days don’t want to slip back into bad habits! The fast 800 has been great I ‘enjoy’ having set daily nutrient goals to keep me on track. I’ve looked around and previously read the 5:2 books but wondering if there is target info for non fast days especially in the beginning, carbs is my main concern. I love carbs but they don’t love me 🙂
Any tips or advice welcome enjoy your weekend

Hello all, sorry still trying to get my head around everything, but just a little update, after 2 months the nurse repeated my HBA1C test and it’s dropped from 112mmol to 62mmol, I shall ask for another one in 3 months time, I’ve lost a stone since January and am now 152lbs or 70kg, I’m only 6weeks into doing the BSD properly however I seem to be getting the munchies more recently but that could be down to me running every day. I’m away this weekend so I’m going to try my best to eat as well as I can, there’s a pool so I shall attempt to swim daily and walk (no room in my bag for my running kit).
I’ve tried to keep up with everyone’s posts, the recipes sound good, and well done everyone for the hard work you are all putting in, I’m starting to realise this isn’t a sprint but a marathon and lifelong!!
Have a great weekend everyone 😀 -
Well done everyone on your results this week 🙂
I discarded another 400g (same as you I think Mariet). I did have a couple of days where I didn’t stick to plan, but I did manage all of the exercises this week, and walked on 4 days. On Tuesday I went out with my daughter, browsing op shops mainly, and we managed 16,000 steps!
I’m now fitting into jeans a size smaller, that I couldn’t fit into at the beginning of Jan. Overall discard since the beginning of the year is 5.7kg or 12.57lb – just realised that’s almost a stone 🙂
And Newbie – yes it definitely is a marathon and not a sprint! I realise I’ll have to continue this WOE permanently (with more calories of course), which may not be a bad thing – I read an article recently where they said a Mediterranean diet led to a big reduction in the chances of getting Dementia.
I’m away this weekend too, but trying to stay on plan as much as I can. Then back into it on Monday. Hope everyone has a good weekend! -
SueBlue
Well done on your amazing discard since January. Almost a stone gone! I’m so pleased for you and how lovely to be wearing smaller jeans already. Your step count is impressive.
I think the two meals a day 800 calorie plan is really good and has certainly made losing weight easier this time. What I’ve noticed since ridding my body of sugar is how my appetite has changed and I’ve no cravings at all. not even crisps! I’m enjoying eating proper food and not snacking. Something I need to remember when I am at target weight . I am going to use the lessons learned on this stretch of my weight loss to help me when I am maintaining.
I have no doubt you’ll be celebrating the discard of one stone in the next week or so. Well done Sue. We’ve got this! -
Newbie, what a wonderful result on your recent A1c!! You must be thrilled with that. Clearly you’ve worked hard to achieve that.
And SueBlue, congratulations also to you on losing almost a stone!
Cathy, how I envy you losing the cravings! Every time I think I’ve lost them, I’m hit with a wave that makes me want to eat endless sweets without restraint! Fortunately, I do not keep any in the house, but if they were here, I’d be done for.
Happy weekend, everyone, and happy almost springtime!

Hi everyone,
Well done on so many losses this last week! I’ve had a disappointing week so not sure I want to weigh myself tomorrow in case I’ve gained. Cathy it’s great that your cravings have gone, I thought mine had but this week they seemed to come back with a vengeance. I’m not sure if it’s maybe because I’ve changed my HRT over this last few weeks from tablet form to an oestrogen gel and it’s taken a while to get the dose right so my hormones have been all over the place and also the two meals a day plan hasn’t really been one I think I will continue, I didn’t fancy many of the suggested meals so was having to do a lot of swaps. I’m changing back to the original plan for this coming week and feel, now that my HRT is hopefully sorted, that I can get the enthusiasm back I had a few weeks ago🤞. This coming week is week 6 for me on the online plan so I still have 7 more weeks of it left which is plenty of time to get a good chunk of weight off. Cathy I hope your tooth extraction goes well and that it’s an end to the awful trouble you’ve had over a long period of time with it.
Dawn X -
Hi everyone. I’m back from NYC and just catching up on posts. Some great discards here – particular congratulations to CATHY and I hope you finally get that tooth on Wednesday. And lovely to read about so many NSVs too. Love the jeans result SUE! Also good to hear from some of the newer posters, am so glad you are hanging in there. Keep on keeping on, as the saying goes.
I had a wonderful time in NYC! So much to see and do and I really enjoyed having time with my daughter. The only downside was that I somehow managed to trip over on Wednesday evening and in the process broke my front tooth, split my lip and badly bruised my hand. So that wasn’t good – though I’m so grateful that those faithful body parts broke my fall otherwise it could have been much worse. And also grateful that it didn’t ruin things, I just felt a bit shaky the next day and have felt exhausted since I’ve been home.
Weight-wise, I’d got to 151.2lb just before I left and have put back on about 3lb whilst away. A bit more than expected, as we ate fairly wisely and did loads of walking. But I’m confident I can soon lose that again so am still hoping to get below 150lb by the end of the month. Here’s hoping 🤞
Hope that everyone has a great week, and I’ll check in again later in the week when I’m hopefully a bit more with it 😂
-
Really sad to read the news about your fall DCT. What a shock but thankfully no broken bones or severe facial injuries. Take time to rest and recuperate this week. It happens so quickly and we go down with a jolt. Be kind to yourself. We have thee weeks in March to achieve our March target of getting into the 140s. Won’t that be something to celebrate. We haven’t been in the 140s for a very long time.
I hope you get your tooth fixed and get over the shock of the fall very soon and feel better very soon. Sending you lots of love 🥰 -
Hi everyone,
I haven’t been able to post to the forums for some time now. I’ve tried everything including emailing the tech people but they have not responded. So I’ve made a new account and hopefully this works. -
Hurrah! It worked!
DCT – so sorry to hear about your fall. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
I’ve been trying to post for weeks now with no success. Not sure what happened to my old account. Anyway I haven’t made much progress so far diet-wise, but my new counsellor has been helping focus on self-care and especially sleep. I don’t think my sleep quality has improved too much yet, but I am getting to bed significantly earlier, am away from screens for at least 10 hours, and feeling a bit more rested, so that is a good start. I am hopeful that this will lower my cortisol levels eventually and help me avoid carby cravings moving forward. We’ve also been discussing how I probably need to treat myself as if I have ADHD, whether I have a diagnosis or not (my parents never got me evaluated in school in spite of the signs because they ‘didn’t believe in labels’) so that I can work on the impulse control and not use food to seek novelty and a dopamine uplift. We are exploring healthier ways that I can increase my dopamine levels.
I have also been trying to make sure that I go swing dancing and to pottery every week. I did a yoga class with the Girl Guides last week. It was the first time doing yoga in ages. So I opened up my online gym subscription again to do some of the yoga sessions in there. I am considering joining a masters swim club in the city where I go for counselling for their spring session as I can go just one day per week, and that will tide me over until the outdoor pool in my community opens for the summer.
Hopefully getting these good habits in place first will help me get back on the diet. It would be so nice to start the discard again. I can see now that I was just under so much stress over the last year and it wasn’t doing me any good.
Cathy – great to see the 2 meals per day and cutting sugar are working well for you. I would like to get back to that as soon as I can.
Will hopefully catch up on everyone else’s news here shortly. Good to be back! -
Oh, DCT, so sorry you had that experience. : ( Glad you had a good time otherwise. I can imagine with the long flights you had a lot of tiredness and jet lag, and also plane travel is famous for adding a few pounds from cabin pressure, sitting still for so long, and cortisol from stress. Kudos to you for doing well with your vacation food and also getting in exercise!
Dawn, hope things settle down with the HRT. Those cravings are just awful when they hit, for whatever reason. I have been addicted to chocolate since early childhood, and it has never subsided. And once I start eating it, I find it very hard to stop.
I also gained a few pounds last week (not from chocolate, but from slacking on tracking), but hopefully back on track now as I prepare to get weighed at my doctor appointment and then wear a swimsuit on my little trip. (!!)

Oh, I missed the post from ArcticFox because I didn’t renew the page after I got home! Great to see you! I was fascinated by your post, since I’ve often wondered about ADHD in myself, and also have trouble with using food for dopamine hits, and getting to bed at a reasonable time, and just staying focused on anything, really. Some of my family members have been diagnosed, but I’ve not yet been tested, and not sure if it’s something I should pursue in my 70s now or not. Best wishes and kudos for all the things you’re doing right!

Morning all! ARCTICFOX great to see you back on here again, I’ve been thinking of you and wondering how you were getting on. I’m glad that things are moving forward in many ways, and particularly that you have lots of positive habits and activities coming into your life. It sounds as if you are in a better place and getting more constructive support. I’m sure the weight discard will soon follow.
BECCA thanks for your good wishes. I thought of you in Macy’s store as there was a lovely T shirt with the slogan “I left my heart in Sedona” on it. I was tempted to buy it but resisted. My daughter is a big shopper, and I am not. If I see something I love and need, and can justify, I may buy it, but she is much more easily swayed. So overall I bought very little whereas she was stuffing her case! I think there’s a generational thing there too though : for me, experiences and memories are now much more important than “stuff”. In fact, I continually seem to be trying to get rid of stuff so am very reluctant to bring in more! Anyway, I look forward to hearing your progress over the next few weeks before your trip. Won’t it be wonderful to enjoy being in a swimsuit again! You CAN do this 🙌
CATHY thank you too for your kind words. I’m taking things easy but getting frustrated as there’s so much I want to get on with. I’m a very list-based person and had a long “to do after holiday list”, but my hand still hurts in certain positions so I’m a bit limited on physical activity at the moment. I’ve made a dentists appointment but she only works Thursday and Fridays and it’s not till Friday 27th. They’ve suggested I phone first thing Thursday morning to see if she has any cancellations or can fit me in as an emergency (which I don’t regard it as being, but do want it checked asap in case there is any damage below the surface). So we”ll see. But I really hope that your appointment goes well tomorrow and they sort your tooth once and for all. Will be thinking of you.
I’m back on the online Fast 800 plan and the scales have moved downwards this morning which is good. I’m currently doing the New 5:2 version, three meals a day, which so far is working well. But in a couple of weeks or so I may try a switch to either two meals a day or a stricter Fast 800 if I feel I need to shake things up a bit. It’s good to have the flexibility to chop and change. DAWN I hope you have a better week this week.
Best wishes to you all X
-
DCT, rest up and take things gently while you recover from your injuries and jet lag. Good luck with the dentist. Don’t panic about that gain, I’m sure it will disappear quite quickly once you’re back on track.
Becca, we all lose focus from time to time, but you’re back on track now, so fingers crossed you’ll see a better result this week … I’m sure you will.
Arctic, good to see you posting again. Sounds like you have lots going on, hope the adjustments you’re making help.Better report my result from the last week, down 1.5lb which was a surprise and might I say, a good result for a slow discarder like me. Continuing with my established pattern this week and hoping to see more discarded at weigh in next Tuesday.
-
My dental extraction has been cancelled by text this morning as the practice was broken into last night! You couldn’t write the script! I’ve rescheduled to 23rd as I am working all next week at the college invigilating! Another plot twist to come to terms with! Nothing is simple. I’ve done a lot of juggling to arrange today’s appt. Hey Ho!
-
Oh CATHY I’m so sorry to hear that. How frustrating!! As you say, you couldn’t make it up. All the best for the 23rd 🤞
Hope everyone else is doing ok xx -
Sorry you have to continue to wait to get your tooth sorted out Cathy. Good luck for 23rd … hope it goes well.
-
Oh Cathy! You are having the worst luck with your tooth. I hope it happens without any further mishaps.
-
Checking in for Friday- a small 200g discard which is disappointing. I am having some trouble with ‘slow transit’ and feel uncomfortably bloated so hopefully when all the psyllium husk, etc that I am using works there will be a better result! I am going to review my online BSD plan as well- they recommended a5:2 plan but I think I do better doing the same thing every day so I’ll see what else might suit me better.
Looking for better things from others 😁 -
MARIET a loss is a loss! And I feel sure that once your system starts flowing again that will make a difference too. Also I seem to remember that you don’t have that much to lose? In which case I guess it makes sense that the speed of loss will slow down (seems logical to me anyway 😊).
SUNNY well done on your discard this week. I’m really pleased for you, particularly as you say you are a slow discarder. Fingers crossed for next Tuesday.
I’m delighted to report that I’m now back to the last weight I took before New York, 151.2lb. It feels like this week has been a bit of a recuperate and reset kind of week, so I’ve not been doing much exercise or anything but have been back on the online New 5:2 plan. So it seems to work for me for now and I’ll keep going on that until I feel the need to change. I really do like the meal plans as food planning is not my best skill. And there are so many recipes to swap to if you don’t like the sound of the suggested ones. I’ve found it makes food shopping easier and once you have a core stash of the ingredients they use it does become quite economical. I’m also getting better at finding recipes that use up leftovers I already have, so nothing gets wasted.
I hardly dare say this in light of CATHY’s frustrating dentist’s experience this week, but my dentist did manage to fit me in yesterday and has repaired my front tooth. She did say it may need more work in future such as a crown, or may even die : apparently I gave it quite a bash. But for now it has a white filling and just looks like normal though feels a bit funny (you know when your tongue won’t leave it alone!). So I’m pleased about that and really hope CATHY that your tooth gets sorted once and for all on the 23rd 🤞
Hope that everyone reading this has a good weekend and some good progress towards whatever your own goals are X
-
Hello everyone
Well done to Mariet and DCT for discarding this week. I’m so glad you got your tooth fixed DCT. I totally understand about your tongue not leaving it alone! I’m surprised I’ve not worn the tip of my tongue out! It’s been poking into the top corner of my gum since July last year!! Good that you’re recuperating from your trip and getting back on track.
I am delighted to report a loss of 1.5 lb this week taking me to …. 🥁 🥁 🥁 149.6!!!!!!!!!!! Woooo hoooooo!!! I can’t remember when I was last in the 140s. I am sticking to the plan 100% and it’s paying off! I’m hosting book club in a couple of weeks and thats going to be a challenge- not from me but from peer pressure and people egging me on. But I am thinking of my blood sugar blood test coming up in April and am determined to be in the normal range.
I’m working this afternoon and all next week so lunches are going to have to be ok the hoof- I’ll make Greek salad, apple and cinnamon muffins and take cheese and nuts, hummus and celery etc hopefully I’ll be ok. It’s a good test for when I’ve finished the 12 weeks and got to learn to eat intuitively again. -
Sunny – being a slow loser is probably better for our skin. All the literature i have read says it is better to lose slowly. I have always been a slow loser and have been frustrated when reading how much people lose but I’ve come to terms that we are all different and slow and steady wins the race. I have found that breaking it down to small goals has really been rewarding.
ARCTICFOX – glad to see you back and it sounds like you’re in a good place. I can endorse the two meals a day 800 vegetarian keto- it’s definitely made a difference to my journey.
Dawn- have you had a good week? Did you change your plan?
Keep going everyone – we’ve got this.
Of to work (I must be mad). I am supposed to be retired! -
CATHY well done you! That’s great news and I’m so pleased for you. In the 40’s again 👏👏👏. What a great end to the week.
Your strategy for work lunches/snacks sounds great – and why not make some muffins for the Book Club? I’m going to try the pear and walnut ones today – will report back in due course!-
Enjoy the weekend x
-
DCT-what a fab idea to make the muffins . I have the pear and walnut ones saved for next week. They sound lovely. Please let me know what you think. I’ve made a batch of apple and cinnamon ones this morning. They’re delicious with a cup of coffee.
-
Hi everyone,
Articfox it’s good to see you back:) Becca I also totally have a chocolate addiction so whenever I have food cravings that’s what it’s for, thankfully I’m more or less back on track this week. Sunny well done on another pound and a half off, Mariet a loss is a loss however small you may think it is, DCT well done on getting back to your pre NY weight and Cathy congratulations on being back in the 140’s, it’s decades since I was last there and I know I will be ecstatic when it happens for me! I’m back on the original Fast800 plan this week so 3 meals a day again. I’ve had cinnamon cooked apples with yoghurt for breakfast today which was lovely. Other meals I’m enjoying are Mediterranean mozzarella chicken, baked mozzarella meatballs(I cheat and use M&S 3 ingredient frozen meatballs) Cajun chicken, Tuscan chicken, chicken fajitas, mushroom basil omelette, easy egg lunch box, Portobello pizzas and the broccoli and three cheese frittatas. I would like to try the curried chicken kebabs next week and the cheesy ham and tomato pikelets and will definitely make some of the muffins which have been mentioned! I would be pleased with any loss at all when I weigh myself on Monday so 🤞 I hope everyone has a lovely weekend. Dawn X -
Hello all, Happy Saturday 🙂
DCT – sorry to read about your fall and I hope you continue to recover well. Definitely get your hand checked out. Almost 2 years ago now I fell over and had what I thought was a sprained ankle – it actually turned out to be broken, but I only found out 2 weeks later, after continuing to walk around on it!
ArcticFox – good to have you back, your post came across as very positive, keep up the good work.
Mariet – I’ve been having small losses too, I was another 1lb down this week, but I’m that bit closer to having lost a stone (think it’s 13.67lb lost now!). I also recorded measurements this week and I’ve shed 13cm from my bust, waist, hips and thighs (since beginning of Jan).
Cathy – congratulations on being back in the 140s!! I know you’ve tried so hard to get there for a long time now. I think it’s a weight I’ll never see again, would be almost 40 years ago for me!! At this stage I’ll be happy to get back under 200lb, but that’s still another stone away I think.
Dawn – sounds like you had a good week, I agree the food is lovely, I’m enjoying trying new meals. I did make the Chard slice (recipe which won the 1000th recipe Competion) but don’t know that I would make it again, or if I did I’d use less Feta, it was very salty. Was quite expensive too once I’d sourced Silverbeet (chard), 1kg ricotta, 2 blocks of feta, 6 eggs, fresh dill… Anyway have enjoyed all of the other meals.
I made some veggie soup this week to have at lunchtimes (and to use up all the veg in the crisper, as I’ve been buying so much). Yesterday I had a small amount of leftover Dahl, so put that in my soup and it was lovely – a curried lentil and veg soup – I’d definitely make again.
I’m finding I need to swap the meals around quite a bit so I’m not buying quite so much food, I try to cook once and eat twice, so often dinner one night becomes lunch the next day or day after (or I freeze it).
Sunny – nice to have you back, and well done on your discard.
Yowzer, Becca and anyone else I’ve missed – hope you are all going well.
It’s certainly starting to feel that we do indeed have this!! -
Hi everyone,
I’m 2lb down and another half inch off my waist so am pleased to be back in the swing of things again. I have a nice week of meals planned, Sue like you I have done quite a few swaps as would rather not waste food and also mainly have things this week which are recipes which I have tried and liked. I am trying a couple of new ones but would like a steady week. I didn’t do many of the exercises last week but would like to get back to doing them daily so that is one of my aims this week. It is still really helping me that a few of us are doing the online plan, along of course with everyone else’s helpful posts. I would love in the next two weeks to get down into the 10s which would be a big boost for me as it’s been a while since I’ve been there! Hope everyone has a good week. Dawn X -
SUE and DAWN well done for your ongoing losses, both on the scales and in measurements. That’s great news.
Like you both, and CATHY too, I’m enjoying the online plans. I’m sure they are helping me to stay focused and keep losing. More so than when I’ve gone it alone :probably just because I was getting stale and needed a bit of a nudge in the right direction!
CATHY I made the pear and walnut muffins. They were ok, but I want to make them again properly. I was in a rush so just threw everything in and estimated the quantities. So I think they were probably a bit more almondy than intended and maybe needed more pear, but will definitely give them another go. I’ll also try your apple ones and I noticed a recipe somewhere for banana and blueberry which I thought sounded nice. Hope your work goes well this week.
A big hit for me this weekend was the cottage cheese, smoked salmon and cucumber salad which was lovely and very easy to make. I also did the halloumi and veg traybake on Saturday night which was very tasty, and I did some pasta for my husband to have with it. I made the chicken cacciatore last night and cooked double so it can be reheated tonight : I do yoga on Mondays and get in around 7:15pm so am always looking for something quick and easy to have.
Thanks SUE for the tip about my hand. Tbh it still doesn’t feel right : the bruising has gone and there’s no visible swelling or anything, but it still hurts if I try to twist it. I think I’ll see how I get on at yoga tonight (downward dogs and all!). Perhaps I just need to exercise it, but if it’s still playing up tomorrow I may do an e consult and see if I can get it x-rayed.
Hope everyone has a brilliant week! X
-
Hi everyone,
I’m still working on my sleep. I slept for a solid 8 hours last night with only one wakening that I recall. It is really helping with my energy level and focus through the day, so hopefully it will translate to better meal planning and then sticking with it. I made the appointment to see my GP next week about possibly getting the ADHD assessment done. Bit nervous about what he will say, but we’ll see. I scored really quite high on the self-assessment my counsellor gave me. I’ve been looking up some helpful videos and reading a couple of books on how to stay organized when your executive functioning is compromised and it has been quite helpful. For instance, I bought an over-door organizer last week and hung it on my bathroom door, and all my little things are staying organized and out of the way so it made it a breeze to clean this weekend. -
ArcticFox- it’s lovely to see that you’re feeling positive and the little changes and tweaks are having such an impact. Well done! Sometimes the little things make a huge difference.
You’re doing great. -
Hello everyone
I’m plodding along and am still following the plan but I can feel that things are going to get harder and slower. I’m half way through the 12 week online plan and I can honestly say that this has been life changing in terms of shifting some excess after years of not being able to lose anything! I am being realistic now going forward that I’ll most likely hit a plateau but I’m 100% sticking wlth this. I have lost more weight than I expected to. I’ll weigh in on Friday – need new batteries for my scales! Hoping to be 1lb down but won’t be disappointed if I stay the same .
Keep going everyone. We have definitely got this!!! -
Quick check in to report an inexplicable 1lb blip upwards on the scales for the past week. Have no idea why this should be and am somewhat frustrated about it. However, am sticking with it and hoping for better things at next week’s weigh in.
Well done to all those who are seeing both scales and non-scales victories. Hope to be reading of lots of positives results soon.
DCT … hope your hand is getting better now.
Arctic …. hope you get the assessment results you expect and it’s helpful going forward.
Cathy …. all we can do is keep going, the results will come eventually. -
Hi everyone, just a quick update. I know many of you are aware I have not been able to eat eggs for around 18 months as they were aggravating my stomach. However, thanks to someone locally who raises duck eggs, I have discovered that I can eat them instead. This is huge because as a mostly vegetarian (sometimes pescatarian) I was struggling to find low carb protein sources and I was overly reliant on dairy products, especially cheese. I had a 2 egg omelet for lunch today and no stomach issues whatsoever! I’m so pleased because I will be able to get things back in the rotation like the broccoli sandwich bread without having to add heaps of flaxseed in order to get it to stick together. So for this week, I have soy-free tofu, lupini beans, greek yogurt and 2 eggs left as protein sources. It has suddenly warmed up here after cold and 20 cm of snow on Monday, so hopefully I will be able to finally harvest some spinach from the garden. Just have to set the tunnel up again as the snow collapsed it. Hope everyone has a good week.
-
Hi everyone, I haven’t posted in a bit, but glad to see so many still having good success with the online plan, and thanks for mentioning the recipes you’re enjoying! ArcticFox, that’s great news about being able to eat eggs again. I’m curious, do they taste the same?
I’m headed off on vacation to the Arizona desert with my daughter and granddaughter tomorrow for a week. I suspect the roadside diners will not have the healthiest options, but will do my best. Planning on getting in a pool for the first time in decades!
When I get back, I look forward to starting back fresh as we head into spring. Have a great week, everyone.
Becca

Becca- have a wonderful holiday. Enjoy precious family time and don’t worry too much about food. You can get back on track when you get home. I am going to enjoy holiday times and special occasions and get back on track in between. We have to live our lives. Embrace getting back in the pool.
I’ve had a busy week invigilating and am absolutely shattered. I am going off grid for a week to recharge my batteries. I feel I want to be on my own! It’s not like me. My husband is away on retreat next week so it will be me and Monty (my cat) and I am so happy to have an empty diary apart from hopefully my tooth extraction on Monday – fingers crossed! I have lost 1.4 lbs this week and today I am 148.2lb. I forgot it was Friday yesterday so weighed today. I am happy with another loss! I was expecting to stay the same or maybe lose half a pound so this is great news.
The sun is shining and spring has sprung and I can’t remember ever feeling the need for spring as much as I do this year. Have a good weekend everyone. Hope you’ve all had a good week. -
Hi everyone,
I have had a really good last few days eating-wise, and I’m feeling much better for it. The improved sleep was helping me make better decisions, and then eating better has helped my sleep further. Although I did shut off my alarm on Saturday morning, fell back asleep and slept for a further 2 hours, but they were nightmare-filled, unfortunately. I tend to have very vivid dreams so nightmares can stick with me even after I wake up. But last night’s sleep was good again.
I am basically eating all the healthy ingredients that I have in my store cupboard and freezer that I was continuing to buy even when I wasn’t eating it. I’m having my tray bake broccoli for dinner tonight, but instead of having lentils with it I have gone for the lower carb option of lupini beans. I had a veggie stir-fry with soy-free tofu last night. Pretty much keeping to the 2 meals a day but with a snack of cheddar cheese or some almonds in between if I get hungry. I am doing a 4 min tabata workout each weekday from my online gym and a walk after dinner now that the evenings are lighter. But this weekend has been full of quite hard core gardening with lots of moving wheelbarrows of compost, etc. so I’ve counted that as most of my exercise, and then I went swing dancing for just 45 min this afternoon (normally I go for 1.5 hrs, but too busy today).
Cathy – wishing you all the best with your tooth extraction tomorrow. Hope it finally fixes that issue for you. -
Hi everyone, happy Springtime! to most of us. Happy Autumn Equinox SUEBLUE and MARIET xx sorry if ive missed anyone out.
🌸Spring fever: the only fever you’re actually looking forward to catching.🌸
CCATHY I mainly came on to say, good luck at the dentists!X

Havent beenposting as havent had much to say,but have been reading all the lovely newsy posts as they pop up in my inbox. Im still very limited walking and in a lot of pain, have been referred to specialist pain clinic, not sure how long I’ll wait for an appt.
Seem to have got a grip now on the mindless eating and feel a little lighter, tho havent been on the scales. I cant actually get on them,as I can barely lift my left foot,so I’m too wobbly!
Have a fab week everyone andremember, progress not perfection! Love to all XXX

Morning all! Just checking in and wanted to wish CATHY every success at the dentist today. I hope it goes smoothly and that you finally get your tooth sorted. Also hope you have a nice peaceful week with just you and Monty. And well done for further loss last week – you’re an inspiration!
I’m hoping to get below 150 this week 🤞 Was hovering just a little above it for.a couple of days at the end of last week then regained a bit over the weekend. Things weren’t helped by our fridge packing up on Friday! A replacement is coming on Wednesday but in the meantime I either froze (we have a chest freezer in the garage) or used up everything I could, but a few things have since been wasted. And I’m now shopping from day to day until we can chill things again. No major issue really, but it’s broken my newly gained habit of weekly meal planning, shopping and using leftovers so I’m keen to get back into that later this week.
ARCTICFOX I’m so glad that you are eating and sleeping better, and also that you are making time for fun activities too. It already feels like it’s going to be a much better year for you.
YOWZER always lovely to hear from you but I’m so sorry you are still in so much pain. Will be thinking of you and praying for you, and really hope that you see some improvement soon. And well done on starting to get back on track eating-wise in the midst of everything else.
BECCA not sure when you go away but hope you have or are having a wonderful time!
Hello to everyone else too, and hope we all have a positive week X

Hi everyone,
Cathy, I will add my wishes to everyone else’s that all goes well at the dentist today and also Becca hope you’re having a lovely time away. Yowzer I really hope your pain gets sorted soon, it must be very draining. Articfox that’s great news about your eating and sleeping! DCT it must be a nuisance having to shop from day to day, roll on Wednesday when your new fridge comes! I would normally weigh myself today but I went totally off plan over the weekend so will leave my weigh in until next week. I also didn’t try the two new recipes I had planned so have included them in this week’s food plan. I think maybe my HRT still isn’t at the right level since changing to the gel as certain symptoms are returning but I’ve read it can take up to three months for your body to adjust so I will see how things are by then. I hope everyone has a really good week. Dawn XX -
Thank you everyone for your kind wishes. I’ve just had a phone call from the dental surgery and they say that the dentist who is due to do my extraction this aftenoon has looked at the x rays and thinks it’s too complex for her and so they’re referring me to a specialist!!!! She said she could give it a go but it might not be successful! I’m fuming. Why did they wait until today to decide this. Also, I’m going away on 1st May and she said not to have an extraction two weeks prior to going away. There is no way I’ll get an appt for the extraction on the NHS within the next couple of weeks. However, if I pay £300 she said a private dentist will be going into the surgery and he can take the tooth out on Friday! This goes against the grain for me. It’s a lot of money. Is it a money making exercise? My husband is away this week. What a mess. The receptionist said they’ll give me antibiotics to cover my holiday and if the pain is unbearable she will attempt to remove the tooth (it’s got a curly root apparently) but in the meantime I’m being referred to a specialist dentist who deals with complex extractions! Is it me?

Cathy just jumping on quickly to commiserate. That’s awful. It sounds as if your dentist is as much use as the proverbial chocolate teapot!! I’m so sorry, and also angry on your behalf. 🤬
I hope you can clear your mind and decide what to do next. In your position I think I’d be tempted to get out the credit card and pay to get it done on Friday. Then hopefully that’s the end of it. But you’re right, it should never have come to this point in the first place.
Sending hugs X

Aah Cathy that’s unbelievable and I’m not surprised you are cross, that’s so last minute!!!! I honestly don’t know what I would do in the same situation, yes it would be good to get it sorted on Friday but it’s annoying that you would have to pay 😡 Sending hugs too. Dawn X

Cathy so sorry to read that you are still having trouble with your tooth 🙁 I would be incredibly angry in the same situation! I hope you can get it sorted soon.
My daughter recently had to shell out $1500 for fillings, she’s not in a health fund so it’s all out of pocket. Dentistry is so expensive. I have quite a few missing teeth as when my family were younger and we were on a low income, it was far more affordable to have an extraction than a filling, so I’d have a tooth removed when it became troublesome!
Anyway, I hope you can get it sorted soon x
Yowzer sorry to hear you are still in pain – I hope you can get some relief soon x
DCT – how is your hand going?I had a funny week last week, I tripped over and landed on my hand. Thankfully just had a grazed elbow and a cut on my finger, but also a bruise under my nail and in the nail bed, so my finger is still quite sore. Then a few days later I dropped a 5kg weight on my foot – luckily no injuries other than a nasty bruise!
Diet wise I didn’t weigh in on Friday as had a few off plan days. But I weighed this morning and have discarded another 600g in the past 10 days 🙂 SO this means I have finally lost the first stone 🙂 as since the beginning of Jan I’ve shed 6.8kg which is 13.86lb, or just over 1 stone. Anyway very happy with that!
I still have a long way to go but feel like I’m getting somewhere this time around.
I’ve had 2 big walks over the last week or so with my husband. We pick a destination, go there on the train and then walk around sight seeing / browsing shops etc. One walk (down the coast) was 16k steps and the other (a country town) over 20k. Because we both have seniors cards now our train fare is only $2.50 a day to go anywhere on the Greater Sydney network basically – this includes trains, buses and ferries. We are making the most of it and going up to the Blue Mountains on the weekend.
I’m still mainly following the online Fast 800 plan, but swapping some meals for my BSD favourites and tracking everything on My Fitness Pal. I’m also following the recommended exercises most days. I just need to keep going, as when this 12 weeks ends I’ll still have more to lose. Hope everyone else is having a good week! -
Hi everyone,
Cathy, so sorry to hear what happened with the dentist. I hope you do mange to get it sorted. Dentistry wasn’t covered here on our provincial medical plan but now the federal government has stepped in for people without insurance. I’ve been fantastically lucky that my insurance plan for work covers pretty much 100% of all my dental care. It isn’t too great a plan for other things (like counselling 🙁 for instance) but I’m always grateful for how good it is when I go to the dentist and know most are not so lucky.
I’ve had an upsetting end to the day as I found out that job cuts have hit some of my work colleagues and one in particular that I have worked with for many years and rely on to do my job has had her position axed. It has shaken all of us. I’m only 5 years from my earliest possible retirement date and 10 years from receiving a full pension, but now it feels like I will be lucky to keep my job for the rest of the year (so maybe goodbye dental plan after all?). Anyway, I saw a retired former colleague who now works on contract for us (so he collects his full pension and gets paid!), just as I was leaving the building and he told me to not stress about it until it happens and that I will be able to cope with it if it does. So I’m trying to not think about it anymore this evening.
SueBlue – that is some very impressive walking you have been doing! And how good about the transit pass.
I did my longest walk today in ages as I asked my counsellor if we could try a walk and talk session today as the weather was gorgeous. We did 4 times around on a path that loops around a small lake in town. She said most clients usually just do 2 or 3 and that I walk at a pretty good clip! It was about 3.5km total, so not too bad. Maybe she will back off telling me that I need to stay fitter throughout the winter now! I think she was forgetting that although I do less cardio in the winter, I am still hauling water buckets and firewood and hay bales, so I stay strong. Also, I look so tubby that it might be easy to assume that I’m less fit than I am, I suppose.
Anyway, I’m feeling quite proud of myself today. I was really hungry after that walk and had to stop at the supermarket on my way home, but I just got Greek yogurt, cheese and a cucumber and stayed away from the carbs. When I got home, I had leftover tofu steaks with some avocado on top for breakfast, Greek yogurt with blueberries for lunch and then dinner was broccoli, cauliflower and a tilapia filet. So even with that upset this afternoon, I managed to stay on plan and have a healthy dinner when I really felt like crisps and lemon drizzle cake. I have a busy couple of days coming up, so hopefully I can keep on keeping on. And hope you all do too!
