BSD friendly, warm, versatile, tasty, filling. Good with Lentil Stew and when comfort food is required.

Ingredients

•  1 ¼ cups Besan (Chickpea) flour
•  1 heaped teaspoon baking powder
•  1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil (evoo)
•  ½ teaspoon garlic powder
•  ½ teaspoon cumin powder
•  ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
•  ½ teaspoon salt
•  ¼ teaspoon black pepper
•  1 cup warm water - plus:
•  1 tablespoon evoo for cooking

Method

Mix all ingredients well in a bowl.
Place 4 x tablespoon drops in a good non-stick pan which has been brushed with a little olive oil.
Cook on med-high for 2 mins or until lightly golden.
Flip and press down a little. Cook a further 2 mins.
Makes 10-12.
So satisfying while still warm and fresh.

    Hi Burtie,
Its a great question. 1 cup chickpea flour is around 360 calories. And there are around 120 calories in 1 tablespoon olive oil. So if you ate 3-4 pikelets from a single batch of 10-12, it would equal around 200 calories. They’re great on their own as a snack or with a BSD recommended soup or stew. Nicest fresh but will freeze in batches if you’re cooking for one. I’m doing the BSD online program down in Australia. As long as you count your calories honestly, stick to small portions and the BSD food choice guidelines, you should be fine, as they are basically just spiced-up chickpeas and olive oil.
    Best wishes.
