    Hey Guys,

I am nearing my 40s and last year i was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. After starting on Metformin i put on 10 kilos of body weight.

I have completed first 4 days in the 8 weeks diet. I can agree with everyone’s comment here is first 2 days were bloody hard.

I am carb obsessed person. Carbs were major portion in my diet. 4 days in I have only 2 meal with 1 cup of Brown Rice. I started off with 103 kilo of weight in just 4 days i have brought down 4 kgs. I am looking forward to completing my 8 weeks. I can already feel more energy in my body. I am couch potato and my step count in day would be around 4000 only but i started making effort since yesterday to at least do 10000 steps and i did achieve it. I hope i can achieve it everyday for rest of my 8 weeks and after that as well.

I will continue updating my results here and i am looking forward to all the support as well from this Forum….

    Welcome, iwannagetfit
You have definitely made some good progress towards your goal of getting fit. 4kg in four days, and more than doubling your activity level! You should be doing a little victory dance 🙂
Read the posts on the ‘what have you eaten today’ thread for ideas on how to replace the carbs in your diet. There are also some great recipes on the site. Cheesy veg mash is a great substitute for potatoes, and cauli rice is good with curries etc, or some of the gram flour flatbreads. Pasta is easily replaced by zucchini (courgette), either spiralised like noodles or cut lengthways like lasagne.
You will get lots of support, advice and encouragement from your fellow BSDers. Keep posting cos your great results will inspire other newbies.

    Great stuff, Iwannagetfit!! 🙂
Well done, you can make that victory dance a victory lap now you have all that extra energy lol.
Now you know why the rest of us are such fans of the BSD. Carbs rob you of energy and following the BSD gives it back to you.
Like Red Devil I’m looking forward to your next update.

    Update on 12-04-2016

I have weighed myself this morning without taking any food it is 96.7 KG. Fasting Blood Sugar 5.6. Energy level quite high…. I have started doing 12000 steps per day from 4000 steps 1 week ago. I started taking public transport to work so i can walk to and from Railway station to my work place which is 1.5 KM. I am feeling awesome. I have never been so active or ever got of my couch to do house chores and going for walk willingly.

My wife is quite happy 🙂 with me helping her in doing chores in the house. I am eating approximately 700-800 cals a day and burning approx 400 cals by walking.

    Update on 13-04-2016…

For some reason my weight has increased to 97.7 kg. Blood sugar 5.7. Yesterday’s steps 13000.. I didn’t do anything out of ordinary. I did stick to my 800 cal yesterday.

I am feeling little tired this morning i only had 5.5 hours sleep but that didn’t stop me from taking walk from Railway station to work this morning in fact took a longer route. I can say that my motivation had big blow this morning when say weight increased but while i was in transit i thought i shouldn’t get dishearten and i need to stay motivated to do this that is the only way it will last 8 weeks and results will be better at the end of the 8 weeks.

Thanks Cherrianne for your support notes its very mush appreciated.

    Hi Iwannagetfit,
You’ve hit what I call the week two blues!
Many people hit a plateau or have a little gain in week 2, not sure why it happens but it seems to be a fairly common phenomenon. It will come off again soon. Someone else posted that fat cells don’t disappear but as they empty of fat, they refill with water initially. This might explain the weight gain/ plateau.
Eventually the water drains away and you experience the ‘whoosh’ effect and a sudden drop of a few pounds.
Haven’t researched that theory myself but it sounds plausible.

    Update on 15-04-2016
Weight – 96.9 kgs 2 days in a row my fasting Blood Sugar is 5.0.

    Steps 13-04 was 15000+
    Steps 14-04 was 17000+

After weight gain 2 days ago I am back on track to bring my weight down. Eating healthy and staying active is the motto I am following. Yesterday I had a set back with a tummy bug in the morning so I changed my all day diet to smoothies and soup also went for little longer walk. I am feeling refreshed this morning ready for new challenge.

    Hi All,

Sorry I haven’t been able post an update in last few days. I am 2 weeks and 2 days in to this diet.

This morning weight is 95.9 kgs blood sugar is 5.0. I have really stepped up my walking. Yesterday I did 22000 steps by going for walk in the morning afternoon and evening. Weight loss seems to have slowed down but I am going to continue this diet as I feel more energetic and I am sure with dedication the result will be seen in weight loss as well. I defenetly have dropped pant sizes as an old trouser which never fit me in last few years now it fits me.
