and for anyone thats interested that jaime oliver book isnt bad some good stuff for now and after i get to goal
-
i think i would say we are away that week.
-
i bought an apple watch, if i am sitting for longer than an hour it gives you a buzz to remind you to get up and move around, some times i feel like i will have a heart attack when it goes off.
-
I bought the U2 in purple and gold because I am addicted to all things purple. I suspect that it will rapidly show that I am no way getting enough steps in. I’m ashamed to see it’s often only in the 100s if I’m at the office. Appalling 😱 Anyway the intention is to get out and WALK.
OPPO. OMG. I made my OH do a taste comparison and apart from the slightly grainy texture he couldn’t tell the difference between that and the 8000 cal version he has. I won’t eat it everyday but it’s amazing to have a pudding for once!!!
-
Oh and who had the courgette pizza base recipe? I have a glut of them!!
-
Oh God. I made a sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiight booboo. I weighed the Oppo… 100g. Only after realising that it definitely wasn’t 2/5s of the tub gone and more like 3/5s, I realised that it was meant to be 100 ml. Not 100g.
Oh well… 🙂
Verdict – oh my God. For the first time in 6 and a half weeks, I have eaten something that feels naughty, and hubby agreed. It was like a luxury ice cream. Well, it is price wise, but you know what I mean. On a par with the so-called ‘premium’ brands. I would never have known that it was a ‘good for you’ ice cream. Absolutely fantastic. Hubby is already talking about going back for some mint for himself tomorrow. Wonderful. All the more SC for me! So now, I know that every time I feel like something sweet, something naughty, I can indulge and feel like I’m indulging. Everyone, go buy some! Now!
-
I liked the texture Janey, I commented on it to hubby that you get that in quite a lot of ice creams. I won’t eat it every day as I couldn’t afford to (especially not with my portion sizes 🙂 ) but it’s nice to know that I could, if I wanted to. It’s less calories than my bowl of greek lol.
-
Going to watch Fixing Dad now on catch up 🙂
-
Oo great thanks run for fun, glad to hear it might make it to me soon 👏🏻👏🏻😂 beat marketing ever in here anyway, though we re sitting ducks for a bit of sweetness 😳😂😂👏🏻
-
So lucky..the pitter patter of paws anytime soon???? 😜🙉🐶
Might be sleep time I think ✅
-
can’t find the ice cream where i live, have checked Holland and Barratt not very close to a Waitrose. will persevere tho
-
Janey i did make the Nigella cake, bugger i used something called Stevia which was on offer at Sainsburys. does that mean i can t eat it now
-
Don’t panic, Stevia is just as good a replacement. How did the cake turn out?
-
just grate the courgette place in a clean tea towel and then squeeze the water out of it. Mix with some beaten egg place on a baking sheet and press into shape, cook for a while until it has dried out a bit then add toppings as you like.
-
cake looks fine, haven’t tasted it yet. Would be nice with the ice cream if i can find some. I think i used every bowl and utensil in the kitchen for some reason
-
Eps, sorry, I didn’t answer that. It would be a good idea but… and I feel like a right plonker for saying this… I can’t deal with animal poo. Especially dog poo. Some people can, some can’t, I can’t. I also can’t open tins of cat or dog food? I start retching at the smell, so I am no use if you’re off on holiday, my friends know not to ask me to go and feed their animals lol. My husband is exactly the same too. We had two rabbits but that was because their poo was non offensive, small and solid. I haven’t even got anyone I could borrow a dog from to walk, all my friends have cats. And even if they did, if they did their business while out, I’d be in a heap by the side of the road, heaving and receiving an on the spot fine for not picking up lol. It has crossed my mind before but I just know I couldn’t do it and it wouldn’t be fair to the poor dog.
Fixing Dad was interesting. And definitely reinforced that I am doing the right thing. My husband is only 8 years younger than ‘Dad’ in the documentary, and I want many more years with him.
-
morning
hope all well ? -
alls well, just had a mid week weigh stayed the same result for me. Hope all is well with you Tokyo. Made the Olive oil cake courtesy of Nigella, looks like cake tastes like cake
-
Can we come out from under the table yet Lucky??
Josie – that cake is the biz, eh?!
So far my day has started with me cooking vindaloo Madhair Jaffers style (aka ‘faff style’ Tokyo!). Friend coming for tea tonight so I’ve got it slow cooking all day the house will smell like a Goan Gastropub by this evening!!
-
We are all going to have an amazing BSD week I can feel it in my bones.😇😇😇
-
What have I missed?
Went to the outlaws at the weekend. Their diet is fairly healthy/med orientated anyway, so eating clean was easy. Apart from when me and the missus went out for a meal for our anniversary. Couple of pints before food then deep fried brie to start, fillet steak with sautéed potatoes, washed down with a bottle of Tinto all polished off with a large brandy. Damn it was good! Plus it didn’t really affect my weight! Far too much alcohol and sat fat though.
Still onwards and upwards. Still ruining myself in the gym and the pool and with just under 2 weeks to go until holiday I’m being like an angel now. I want to hit 87kg by the time I leave. 3.5k to go!!
By the way Janey, I know you’ve been struggling with yoghurt. We started making our own after the weekend using an EasiYo. SOOO simple to make and damn tasty too.
-
Hi Timmy
I’m queue jumping here as a forum stalker!!! Please can you share how you make your yoghurt I have an easi yo but in the past have bought the packet mixes . Would love to make my own. Thanks -
It couldn’t be simpler. Buy one of the yoghurt sachets (I’ve got 165g ones). Pour the sachet into the container and half fill with water. Put the lid on and shake until it’s dissolved. Top it up with water to the top and put the lid back on. Fill up the outer container (the big red one) with just boiled water to the top of the red insert. Pop in your container, close the lid. Leave! After 8 to 12 hours it will be set.
You can eat it straight away but it’s more like French yoghurt. If you chill it overnight it becomes more like British yoghurt.
This method involves repeatedly buying culture sachets, but I’m planning on trying to just use one culture and carry on making it with milk without having to buy more cultures. I’ll report back on how I get on!
-
Love your responses to Oppo!! Sent them round the rest of the team here and they were so pleased! We are going to try a sort an special offer or voucher out for all BSDers so keep spreading the word!
On day 3 and not sure about the no-carb Bircher..
-
on the yoghurt front, there’s always forgetting to put the milk back in the fridge when you go out in the morning.
I didn’t try it, but got home to a solid half bottle last night – there’s a level of logic that says that yoghurt/curd cheese etc is the same thing, but on the other hand – YUK
-
Hold up a mo I’ve gone through dozens of posts, what’s oppo it sounds very important, quick tell me someone , dont know how any of you find time to eat you chat so much hehe, please enlighten me I get that it’s some kind of ice cream, please tell me more.🤔🤔🤔
-
Woohoo just googled it I have downloaded a voucher, and AMAZINGLY they sell it in the coop, my village has the largest and apparently most profitable coop in the country, hence why it’s still there, everyone really dislikes it as it’s usually about 10-20 % more than anywhere else. We was supposed to get wait rose, but that went to another village by mistake. Mind you I’m a aldi/Lidl girl, I love saving money on delicious food, their fruit and veg is always über fresh, as it always sells out everyday.
But back to the ice cream what’s the count on it. Carbs and cals. Anyone know. I’m typing fast this is the old Jan thinking about her food fix ooh ooh bad👹👹👹👹👹👹👹 get back in that box.
In the voice of Yoda MINDFUL I AM TODAY. , and the little pixie on my shoulder says in the other ear about ***** time. -
I’m not sure gone off milk is quite the same Frog, LOL!
I too want to know what this OPPO is. It is some sort of ice cream?
-
Hee hee I think you’re probably not alone on the poo-phobia Lucky! But unless we find a dog that doesn’t need to go very often, I guess that solution is out! Though some dogs are very discrete!! 😉
Hope today is a good day – Wednesday already – can’t believe it. :-)))
Oppo needs to make it over across the sea very soon, what with all the talk of it. Though I have decided to have no more dark chocolate (continuing saga) in the house for a few weeks as a tiny piece is sneaking in all the time so not sure another sweet tasting thing however healthy is good.
The French yoghurt which becomes British over night hee heeeee. Wonder how long we have to wait before it goes Greek ;-)))
-
OPPO is THE FUTURE! Its’ non dairy, low carb ice cream – 38 cals per scoop, and low GI! And most importantly, it tastes like a proper dessert! I am sold on the salted caramel! Lucky also gave it a big thumbs up last night! Download your voucher Timmy – it’s a game changer for healthy choices!
Thank you runforfun – we are happy to spread the word on this!
Now, back to less exciting yoghurt. My mum used to make her own by reusing the live culture. Apparently very easy once you’ve got started. I may head over to ebay to see if there are any yog makers going cheap (or is that moo?)!
-
Janey’s Goan Gastropub for 6? :-))))
-
I don’t like the bircher idea either. Anything that’s been left to get soggy overnight in the fridge is a nono! Have a poached egg, handful of rocket and a slice of smoked salmon for brekkie like I did today – you feel like you’re dining like a duchess but being good as well 😉
-
Hey Greenjanet
So pleased youve found Oppo near you.
For 100ml of the tub Salted Caramel had 76Kcal, 7.4g of carbs of which sugar 6.2g
Very good for a naughty food fix!Hi Timmy
Oppo is a healthy ice cream which is much lower in carbs, sugar and fat but taste just as good as normal ice cream! -
oooo nooo I’m telling you there’s soggy and then there’s nice-tasting-soggy – much better ;-)))
I sometimes put 20gs of oats over night mixed with almond milk/coconut milk with no sugar (or normal milk if you have it) + tablespoon of Chia seeds, some frozen raspberries, tablespoon of Fage and a teaspoon of almond butter/peanut butter = SOOOOO delicious. Can also add cacao powder and leave out raspberries and add coconut – so nice. 🙂
-
Epspecially your idea sounds so much better! going to try that instead of the bircher next week. Thanks!
-
Hi
What’s the carbs and cals in your version -
It changes depending on what I put in it Greenjanet. Do you have Myfitnesspal or one of those apps for your phone? You could check the ones online if not. I put everything in there and it tells you what the carbs and calories are.
Havent made this in a while but checked back last time I did it was something like this: Oats 26g = 96 calories (16g carbs), 6 g almond butter =39 calories, blueberries 50g=28 calories, coconut milk 200ml = 52 calories, chia seeds with cinamon (it’s a pack) =54 calories so total was 270 for breakfast. Hope that helps 🙂
-
270 cals of bircher for breakfast? I’d rather hav 2 scoops of Oppo @ 78cals lol! Maybe they can make a breakfast version runforfun? Berry yoghurt flavour – with chia bits if necessary! Put it to the team 🙂
-
:-)))))) hee hee
I have to make my own Oppo in the meantime – it’s a hard life on the islands 😉
-
i have not fried oppo yet but it sounds like it will be a winner
janey i shall be round bout 7 for my te ok?
wheres lucky to today ? has she finally run off with mrs martin??
and timmy on my way to work this morning i saw to young persons wearing red sweatshirts that had ” team speedos” written on the back !!! i thought of you as i drive past laughing !!! -
Haha Jenny, we are actually in the middle of not only creating another flavour of Oppo Ice Cream but also another Oppo product maybe a couple of desserts..
Im sorry Especially! We are trying to get Oppo over to you!
-
Morning Tokyo, Josie, Janey, Janet, Timmy, Collie, Runforfun, Frog and Eps! Apologies if I missed anyone out 🙂
The scales are up. I repeat, the scales are up. I have gained – a new one for the list…
An OPPO pound – the random half a pound to a pound that is gained when the night before you ate nearly half a tub of OPPO by confusing millilitres with grams. Because you’re a tool.
Oooh Janey, bet your house smells lovely! Not quite safe yet, but safer than yesterday anyway. So far. It’s not afternoon yet.
Greenjanet – spoke too soon… lol. We had the Co-op in our village, which was then replaced by Waitrose. The Co-op moved to the next village, replacing the old Kwik Save/Somerfield. Co-op used to be really good, you could do a decent shop there, but this one looks like something has dropped on it. It always looks untidy, the reduced section always seems to have more in it than the actual shop has, it’s hideously expensive, and it has one wall of a frozen section. I’d say 60% of which was dessert lol. But, in all fairness, they stocked the Oppo!
Timmy – hope you and your wife had a lovely anniversary. And if you can’t treat yourself on your anniversary, when can you?
Yayyyy Runforfun, and one thing you can guarantee is that you’ll get an honest opinion. If we make bread, or cake, or pizza (eggy pizza meh) and it isn’t like bread, or cake, or pizza, we will slaughter it. Mercilessly. Oppo have made an ice cream, that tastes like a luxury ice cream! And it’s a ridiculous amount of calories. I’m just waiting for someone there to say ‘Oh, shoot… my bad. Miscalculated that one! That was meant to be 176 calories…?’ haha! Good luck on Day 3, it gets easier, I’m on Day… 47. It’s flown.
So I’m not completely bonkers then, Eps? 😉 Not completely, no…?
Tokyo, you have not fried Oppo? Like you get in chinese restaurants, where they batter it? Oh my GOD! DEEP FRIED OPPO IN CHICKPEA BATTER! Or am I overthinking this?
And I wouldn’t run away with Mrs Martin, aka PALTROW. Pffffffffft :-p -
Lucky I’ll have to try find you on UP if you dont make an appearance soon ;-)) You can walk but you can’t hide :-))))
-
Fried Oppo? Are you from Glasgow originally Tokyo?
I’ll be donning my speedos in the outdoor pool tonight and doing my best to splash the non-wet hair swimming brigade.
-
‘Fried’ Oppo Tokyo??!! Don’t do that, it’ll be another ‘butterflies’ culinary disaster!! I’m hopeing Lucky hasn’t run off with MRS Martin either, or she will be in the clutches of Paltrow.. *gasp*
Ooh runforfun, now I’m intrigued. Obviously if you need product testers…….. 😉
-
What is the beef with Paltrow??!!
-
Hmm, add the Oppo Pound to the list Lucky (now you’ve surfaced). This is described as a BSD miscalculation rather than misdemeanour..
I’m waiting for my Up2…… where’s my Up2 got to??!!
-
Paltrow. don’t get us strated…
-
Timmy – she’s a ****
Apart from that? Nothing 🙂
