    Hi,

I have just recently started out on the journey to reduce my Carbohydrate intake. I have bought the books (The 8-week blood sugar diet & The 8-week blood sugar diet recipe book). I have a simple question, which no amount of online research seems to be able to answer.

When I look at a food label it gives 2 figures: carbohydrates in grams per 100g of food & “of which sugars” in grams per 100g of food.

    1. Which of these 2 figures is the one I should be monitoring?
    2. Why are both provided?

Thanks for your response to these 2 questions.

It’s the first (biggest) figure you need to use for this diet.

It’s a legal requirement to provide both figures. Some cabohydrate starts of as sugar, and is the very worst type for diabetics, but most other carbohydrate (except fibre) become sugar, or the equivalent, when eaten and therefore only limited amounts are consumed on this diet.
