Hi began my 8 week BSD eight weeks ago and over that time I have lost 30lb, 2lb short of 1/6th. of my body weight. Have been off medication for seven weeks and my bloods are, mostly below 6. I am now wearing 34″ trousers, cannot remember when I last had 34″ waist. Lost 6″ from around my tummy. Met with my diabetes nurse every two weeks to monitor my progress and her last comment was that I was well outside the diabetic range, which is why I began this diet.
But the change does not end here, will continue to eat the same kind of food to maintain my weight loss, and because I have enjoyed being on this diet, and steadily increasing my calories to 1500. Have no idea how many calories I need to maintain my weight loss so it will be hit and miss.

Well done vielnouve, you have done great and achieved what we are all aiming for, remission. You are right, this is a life long way of eating and finding the right number of calories for you to maintain is your next step. Keep on keeping on…

Hi everybody, I’m a newbie! Started my 8 week challenge today and have gone well so far today! It seems like such a long stretch, but you have to have a day 1, and I want to look back in 8weeks time and say I’ve done well, not, I wish I had started! You are all a great source of inspiration to me! Thank you so much! I am aiming to try do 3 cycles as I would like to drop 40kg, it sounds like such a mammoth task, but I really want to succeed! Thanks again! Kindest regards and a big hello! X

Hi Briggs,
Welcome to the forum, 40kg is possible, I know because I have done it – I started in October 2017, but I would suggest that its better to also work out smaller goals, and celebrate when you achieve them.
The goals don’t have to be just about the reading on the scales, we have a common term on the forum of None Scale Victories (NSV). A NSV can range from inch loss, or easier to do a physical activity. It depends on the nature of your journey how important these are. Alleycat who will pop up at some point when she stops giggling about linseed and bats (different thread) lost half her body weight over ten months loosing weight consistently each week, but her journey did not involve increasing exercise. – My journey does involve increasing physical activities so over the last few months the weight loss has been very slow but the shape change continues.
There are a couple of regular threads, a weekly challenge and a 4 weekly challenge, where people say their aim at the start of the challenge and report in progress. (The weekly weigh in on the 4 week challenge is today). The challenges are good with a mixture of newcomers and people who have been on this WoE for a while sharing their experiences. I would recommend joining one. -
Many congratulations vielnouve on your success. There is a thread here for maintainers, where you can pick up and share tips – After reaching your target, what next? Maybe we shall see you there now and again! Best wishes for the next phase. I am three months into maintaining, and so far so good….

Thank you for those kind words! I have set some goals regarding fitting into certain clothes etc. I will keep numbers on the tape measure and scale! A handy tip! Thanks again! Kind regards! B

Congratulations vielnouve, that’s a great achievement! 💐
Briggs, welcome! I also started this with 40kgs to lose. By the end of my first 8 weeks I’d lost half of that and am now doing round 2 to continue work on the remaining 20kg, so it’s fully achievable!

WOW! AMARELA THANK YOU SO MUCH! You have just made my day! I do sometimes feel like it is a big hill to climb but you saying you lost that much has just made such a difference to me! You are awesome! May I ask, do you do any exercise in your cycles?
I really appreciate the welcome and that motivational boost!🌻🌻 -
You’re welcome Briggs!
I walk daily, I have dogs so not really an option not to, but that’s about it. The 10 000 steps that I think is recommended in the book is pretty much how much I do on a normal day but I’ve put more effort into picking up the speed and doing more challenging routes like hilly roads and forest walks and it’s gotten so much easier with the kilos falling off!
Doing more exercise is next on my to do list, have a few exercise DVDs waiting and I’m thinking of joining an exercise class in the autumn. Would’ve been TOTALLY out of my comfort zone in the spring!
For me personally I feel the that the biggest boosts for weight loss have been counting carbs and keeping them 20g most days and intermittent fasting, there is lots of great links to these in the “take a look at this” thread.
It can all seem a bit daunting at first but gets easier when you find your feet and own feel good levels on this way of life!

You are a legend Amarela! I have a very active boxer puppy so for me it is the 10000 step target too! Thank you so much for that! You have made such a difference to my way of thinking and feeling, it now seems possible! Have the best day ever! B🌺🌺🌺

Hi Brigg just finished my first 8 weeks and it’s amazing. You will find it great just allow time for food prep so you don’t make bad food choices. Loads of energy too just doing couch to 5k running with a club too. Never run in my life since I was a child now 48 and running albeit slow. Lost 32 lbs so You can do it. Catherine70

Hi Catherine70,
Congratulations on the weight loss! WOW! definitely feeling motivated by everybody’s kind words! I agree, food prep and menu prep is very important! In life I take time for the ones I care about, so I guess it is only right for me to take time for myself too! I am taking my boxer puppy for walks she is very energetic and keeps me on my toes! Thank you so much for your kind words! I really appreciate it!
Kind regards, B🌺🌺 -
