Over the moon with my first week. Lost 6lb and I know the first week always shows the greatest loss. This is my second week and I honestly have been religious about the diet. I train 3 times a week at a gym and always have. I have only lost a measly pound. I’m gutted. Is this the norm? I know a pound is still a pound but a pound? Please tell me it’ll get better before I bury my face in a Tiger loaf?

You might want to try a Search … top right …. for the word plateau.
It’s pretty normal … and if you don’t have tons to loose you are going to loose more slowly than those who do.
Many people here also suggest you go by changes in your measurements … clothes fitting better etc.
And while it’s not big poundage most of us do want to loose the fat around our liver and pancreas.
The only way to get all the benefits is to stick with it, especially since the first week is usually the hardest. We are all different and our bodies are going to adjust to the new eating plan as they will.
Good luck. 🙂 HUGS

Put the tiger loaf away, Shalimar is right, low loss is normal after a big loss and 6lbs is not to be sniffed at. Stick with it and it will happen.

Ah thanks. I guess I shouldn’t have got on the scales but lots of information on here about weighing often. I haven’t got loads to lose maybe another stone and a bit and I’m not pre-diabetic but I am addicted to carbs especially bread and have a large waist. I suppose I thought the plateau would come later.
I will chuck my scales out of the window I guess xxx -
Thanks all of you. I feel like an alcoholic going through the 12 steps xx

I felt a bit the same when I weighed in at the end of week 2, but it gets better. Four weeks in, the tale of the scales (Kg’s converted to pounds) is:
Week 1: 9.24lb
Week 2: 2.2lb
Week 3: 3.5lb
Week 4: 9.68lbTotal so far: 24.62lb
I am type 2 diabetic, 5’11” and weighed 294lb or nearly 21 stone, and have not done any exercise as I’m pretty much paralysed from the waist down due to a crushed spinal cord, although I still manage on a frame.
The Panorama programme ‘Diabetes: The Hidden Killer’ frightened me to death as I could see that was going to be me having limbs hacked off if I didn’t do something about it soon, as only the previous Thursday a visit to my doctor had shown my blood sugar levels were up nearly 70% on my previous blood test the year before.
Disappointed after my week 2 weigh in, I re-watched the programme on freeview, it got me thinking straight again. I was shocked by week 4’s weight loss, but had taken 2 days where I ate only an apple or couple of pears, a small handful of nuts, not by design though, but because I was busy and later when settled down didn’t feel particularly hungry so didn’t bother with an evening meal. Found out today my belt on the jeans I put on had gone in 3 notches, yeah baby!
It’s weird, I feel as if I’m in a kind of positive zone mentally wise lately, and am feeling a lot more relaxed, happy and most importantly, in control of what and when I eat; I control it, not it controls me. Your losing 6lbs in two weeks is not bad at all, just imagine carrying a shopping bag with that in it all day, you’d know about it at the end.
Keep on course, chin up, it will get better!

WOW!!! Big ned…..that’s fantastic, you have done incredibly well. I started the year at the same weight as you, the difference being I’m only 5’3″ – I have lost 2 1/2 stones up to now, but over a stone in the last 5 weeks after starting BSD. I know how you feel about shift in attitude, it’s great isn’t it ?
Wish you every success in the coming weeks, but know you’ll smash it ! -
I know exactly what you mean about that mental attitude, I have never experienced this level of control before, i was always being called or driven to eat by cravings and availability of easy carbs and sugar, this WOE really is a revelation.

Good drills DTT! Keep at it! For some of us the realisation that it must be done or face the inevitable consequences is what’s driving me, and so far, so good. I sure feel more positive after getting over the initial disappointment and fighting the urges for sugary treats only to think that a couple of pounds weight loss was not very good, and why was I bothering?
After buying and reading Mike Mosley’s two books, plus viewing the bigger picture of what’s what, and what to expect on this forum, I quickly came to realise that ANY weight loss a week, however insignificant it may initially appear, is another step towards better health and piece of mind. It has to be done, LOL.

Spuddy61, what you’re experiencing is entirely normal. I plateau every 2 weeks consistently:
Wk 1: 104.5Kg (-8.2Kg / 18lb)
Wk 2: 101.8Kg (-2.7Kg / 6lb)
Wk 3: 100.8Kg (-1.0Kg / 2lb)
Wk 4: 95.6Kg (-5.2Kg / 11.5lb)
Wk 5: 94.6Kg (-1.0Kg / 2lb)
Wk 6: 90.8Kg (-3.8Kg / 8.5lb)
Wk 7: 89.9Kg (-0.9Kg / 2lb)I’m 4 days in to week 8 and have already lost 3lb – big loss followed by small loss…

Hate to tell you cmawp, but if you are losing – no matter how little – it’s really not a plateau. Many of us experience periods of absolutely no loss at all, which is what is meant by the term plateau. Well done on you consistent weight loss and hope it continues for however long you want it to.

I feel fine about it . Start of 5th week and 12lb lighter. I have decided that once I get to the weight I’m happy with, I will continue 800 cals Monday-Friday. Saturday will be a naughty day and Sundays semi-naughty. I really don’t want to think of never having a piece of toast again or having a pint of Thatchers Gold 😭😭.
I have to get there first….. then there’s Christmas. The diet wrecker of all diet wreckers. .
