    Hi Ziggy
Hope it goes well with the weigh in today.Good luck my friend.
I am lucky so far in that I have had no cravings.
I do not exercise as such but my job involves me continually moving around and lifting moderately heavy items for 7.5 hours a day, 5 days a week.

Day 6 – I don’t know if it’s my imagination but the clothes are feeling a little looser. LOL I could be hoping it felt that way too. Since I just took measurements yesterday I will need to wait a bit to see how that goes.

Still feeling tired and today I just felt plain lazy. I was planning on doing some things and then just lazed around the house, watch some tv and read my book. I got some lc soup cooked up for lunches because DH decided he is going to join me on LC. We’ll see how long that goes.

Weighed in this morning and only 3.6 lbs lost so far. I can’t say I was completely upset about that because it’s still weight that has come off and this time it better not come back on. I’m curious to see what my grand total will be on Tuesday for a whole week on plan.

SunnyB thanks for the encouragement. I wasn’t going to beat myself up for the potato because given the choice of flour, rice, grains or potato, I thought the potato was way less processed too. LOL Now that could be my brain making excuses, but I know that I will be throwing potatoes in there from time to time, especially since it’s summer right now and the baby potatoes from the garden are fresh. As long as I am not giving in to them on a daily occurrence and just every once in a while, I can live with that. ๐Ÿ™‚

This is my first post but I have been reading the posts almost from the beginning.

I would like to thank everyone on the forum . I have been onBSD for 12 weeks now with very mixed results but because of all the advice I stuck in there and am now starting to believe that I can really do this.
I often became very discouraged as I was losing and regaining the same kgs and didn’t seem to be getting anywhere but I keep reading the forum and kept persisting and now am seeing regular losses.
I would just like to assure everyone that if you stick to the principles you will start to see results.
Just hang in there this does work.

Heart breaking to get on the scale and see a kilo come back, when I had a normal meal ie. steak and salad and the next day some 1 piece of sourdough with goats cheese and hommus. I have been exercising every day and count and measure everything! But this morning I am more determined and off I go again for another week.

    Hi Penny,
I’ve had a fab weekend thanks – but totally off plan.
I’m too ashamed to write what I’ve eaten, but I will not dwell on it. I’m going to act like it didn’t happen and give the coming week 100%.

I shall stick to less than 50g carbs; maximum of 800 calories; no less than 10,000 steps per day and use the gym 3 times this week. Oh, and a minimum of 1.5L of water per day. Sounds difficult, but the fact is, I know that it can be done, as I’ve done it before ๐Ÿ™‚

    Looking forward to week 3.

I tell you Tokyo, I’m reaching my limit slowly. Everyone has a mad one as a one off, I do, but on special occasions. New Year, birthdays, things might go on until 12 or 1 am. But not every weekend like she does, and we do keep it down to a dull roar. She doesn’t know the meaning of the words ‘indoor voice’. Looks like weather bad for next weekend too, so camping might not be then. Can’t wait to get away from them. I’d rather freeze in a tent and get sleep than be kept awake like that again. I was fantasising about going downstairs about three this morning, with an axe, hacking their back door to pieces and saying ‘Slam it now, mo-fo’s!’. But I was too exhausted to channel my inner Arnie.

No, Josie? What’s that? Hubby has got something on catch up about Mexican army and drugs. I’m off to bed in a bit.

Evening Tokyo ๐Ÿ™‚ I spent the day snoozing in my chair, but to no avail. Kept up all night by her, and kept up all day by him screaming at their children because she was trying to sleep! Fancy that! Alright for some, eh? ๐Ÿ™‚ Happy days! Watched my favourite MvG win the darts. Didn’t get my 10,000 steps after a good start but I did do an hour’s walk, and 7688 steps, not bad on no sleep. Feeling very tired and very cross indeed. Lamb dinner was nice and had a dark chocolate mousse bar with the darts. Could sleep for a week…

It’s very tough when you’re going through plateaus. And I’m sure most of us have problems with sticking with it. I had a birthday last week and after best part of 2 weeks of really strict intake, I went out with my family and had a normal sized curry. No starter and no pudding and water to drink but a decent portion of food. Gained 3lb. I know I know, it’s mostly water etc but that feels so unfair. Got back on the horse again and hope I will shift this and move ahead again. Feel like lost the push to the extreme I did have it. But this is for life isn’t it? And not getting in a big sulk when the scales go the wrong way and giving up is the plan. Fall down 9 times, get up 10!

I forgot to post yesterday but it was okay. For some reason I thought it was a good idea to cook chili on the hottest weekend of the year. So smart! It was yummy and so hard not to eat all of it.

    My totals were:
    Saturday kcal 922, Carbs 74.2g
    Today kcal 802, Carbs 57g

Bit of a mixed weekend but hoping it doesn’t affect the weigh in tomorrow too terribly.

Hi Wheelie, and great to see you being creative. I guess that many of us have had to make adjustments to the “rules” and yet have had good results. My wife, for example found that having no bread upset her tum, so she has just two half slices a day at the time of taking pills which have to be taken with food. She has lost loads of weight.

Don’t forget also, that the initial university study on which so much of this is based involved the consumption of “replacement meals” and so you’re following in a well-trodden and approved path.

Do keep posting, and let us know how the weigh-in goes in September. You must have the patience of a saint.

I have just shelled out ยฃ60 on a pair of “Target Oriented” jeans.

The story of my diet could almost be told against the framework of 3 pairs of trousers.

    1) At the latter part of last year I bought a pair of very reduced (but still expensive) cycling trousers. They were hopelessly too small, but I intended to make a bit of an effort on weight in the New Year (as always) and hoped I could shrink into them. Tried them in March (having rather forgotten them) to see if I was any where near getting them on. They were already too loose. I am still using them (I’m too mean not to), but after my ride yesterday, I had great probems stopping them falling down.

    2) A month or two into the diet, I bought a pair of jeans (also “saving myself a fortune”, if you know what I mean ๐Ÿ˜‰
They were really uncomfortable, but by now I have to wear them with a belt to keep them up.

    3) Well, as quite a few of us seem to be finding out (apart from Lynne, who sticks to it and gets her well-deserved rewards) it can be quite hard getting that last stone off. SO – I thought another pair of trousers was worth a try. Again, I have lashed out on a pair of jeans which were too expensive not to take seriously, but they are uncomfortably tight. I tried wearing them today when we went out for lunch, but thank goodness I was wearing a longish shirt not tucked in, as I had to undo the waistband surreptitiously. Hopefully the mean streak in me will ensure that I make the final push.

    Onwards and downwards,

    John

WOW! First time I ever ate one. Followed the directions.. Drizzled with a good amount of olive oil and sprinkled salt. broiled for 3 mins.

Didn’t have goat cheese and pine nuts, so I threw on feta & pistachios.

broiled for 3 more mins. To be honest after this I drizzled on even a little more olive oil! can’t have too much of it! healthy stuff!

Didn’t have chives so sprinkled on thinly sliced scallions

WOW just delicious! I’ll be having this often. Made it for my man and myself. (First time he ever ate a portabella as well — he also thinks it’s amazing!) The combination of flavors & textures is so amazing! And this was just the first recipe I tried! Can’t wait to try more now! Amazing!

    Hi Autumn,

I plan in a ‘cheat day’ once week. I’ve been doing the BSD Fast 800 for 4 weeks, (although I aim for 1000 cals a day after calculating the book recipes and realising that the calorie counts were a bit ‘light’), and although I’m loving the BSD, (never thought I’d say that about a ‘diet’), I’ve found having a ‘cheat day’ is essential for my sanity.

Essentially, I know I’m only human and so having a ‘cheat day’ once a week helps me through the other days of the week if I start feeling a bit carb ‘crav-ie’.

Inevitably having a cheat day does hit the speed of overall weight loss, and after losing a lot of weight in the first week, I was disappointed when some of that loss went back on after my first cheat day, but I’m in this for the long haul/life, (I have a huge amount of weight to lose), so if it takes me longer to reach my target weight, so be it.
I’d rather it that way than total abstinence causing me to fall off the wagon completely.

The key for me is to make sure the ‘cheat’ food is not still in the house when I’m back on the BSD. If it is, then it’s a disaster!

As others have found, I get fuller, far quicker on my ‘cheat days’ than before I started the BSD and because my brain occasionally checks out of my body where food is concerned, there are the odd occasions when I’ve gone to bed on my cheat days feeling over stuffed and incredibly unwell, which in some ways is a helpful reminder of the bad old days.
